The Revised English Bible with the Apocrypha (REB) (Cambridge, England: Cambridge University Press, 1996) is a very reliable phrase-by-phrase English translation of the Bible. It is the best English alternative to the GNT. Like the GNT, it captures many of the original languages' nuances that are missed in word-by-word translations.
