TEV - "The Priestly Blessing" - 22 The LORD commanded Moses 23 to tell Aaron and his sons to use the following words in blessing the people of Israel: 24 May the LORD bless you and take care of you; 25 May the LORD be kind and gracious to you; 26 May the LORD look on you with favor and give you peace. 27 And the LORD said, "If they pronounce my name as a blessing upon the people of Israel, I will bless them."

<RR1> Psalm 89

KJV w/Strong# - {15} Blessed <0835> [is] the people <05971> that know <03045> the joyful <08643> sound <08643>: they shall walk <01980>, O LORD <03068>, in the light <0216> of thy countenance <06440>. {16} In thy name <08034> shall they rejoice <01523> all <03605> the day <03117>: and in thy righteousness <06666> shall they be exalted <07311>. {17} For thou [art] the glory <08597> of their strength <05797>: and in thy favour <07522> our horn <07161> shall be exalted <07311>.

NRSV - 15 Happy are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O LORD, in the light of your countenance; 16 they exult in your name all day long, and extol your righteousness. 17 For you are the glory of their strength; by your favor our horn is exalted.

TEV - "A Hymn in Time of National Trouble" - 15 How happy are the people who worship you with songs, who live in the light of your kindness! 16 Because of you they rejoice all day long, and they praise you for your goodness. 17 You give us great victories; in your love you make us triumphant. 18 You, O LORD, chose our protector; you, the Holy God of Israel, gave us our king.

<RR2> Psalm 33

KJV w/Strong# - {11} The counsel <06098> of the LORD <03068> standeth <05975> for ever <05769>, the thoughts <04284> of his heart <03820> to all generations <01755>. {12} Blessed <0835> [is] the nation <01471> whose <0834> God <0430> [is] the LORD <03068>; [and] the people <05971> [whom] he hath chosen <0970> for his own inheritance <05159>. {13} The LORD <03068> looketh <05027> from heaven <08064>; he beholdeth <07200> all <03605> the sons <01121> of men <0120>.

{15} He fashioneth <03335> their hearts <03820> alike <03162>;...

{20} Our soul <05315> waiteth <02442> for the LORD <03068>: he [is] our help <05828> and our shield <04043>. {21} For our heart <03820> shall rejoice <08055> in him, because <03588> we have trusted <0982> in his holy <06944> name <08034>. {22} Let thy mercy <02617>, O LORD <03068>, be upon us, according as we hope <03176> in thee.

DHH - 11 pero los proyectos del Señor permanecen firmes para siempre. 12 Feliz el pueblo cuyo Dios es el Señor, el pueblo que ha escogido como suyo. 13 El Señor mira desde el cielo y ve a todos los hombres;

NRSV - 11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage. 13 The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees all humankind.

15 he who fashions the hearts of them all,...

20 Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and shield. 21 Our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. 22 Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.

TEV - "A Song of Praise" - 8 Worship the LORD, all the earth! Honor him, all peoples of the world! 9 When he spoke, the world was created; at his command everything appeared. 10 The LORD frustrates the purposes of the nations; he keeps them from carrying out their plans. 11 But his plans endure forever; his purposes last eternally. 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD; happy are the people he has chosen for his own! 13 The LORD looks down from heaven and sees all mankind. 14 From where he rules, he looks down on all who live on earth. 15 He forms all their thoughts and knows everything they do. 16 A king does not win because of his powerful army; a soldier does not triumph because of his strength. 17 War horses are useless for victory; their great strength cannot save. 18 The LORD watches over those who obey him, those who trust in his constant love. 19 He saves them from death; he keeps them alive in times of famine. 20 We put our hope in the LORD; he is our protector and our help. 21 We are glad because of him; we trust in his holy name. 22 May your constant love be with us, LORD, as we put our hope in you.

<B1> Psalm 19

KJV w/Strong# - {1} The heavens <08064> declare <05608> the glory <03519> of God <0410>; and the firmament <07549> sheweth <05046> his handywork. {2} Day <03117> unto day <03117> uttereth <05042> speech <0562>, and night <03915> unto night <03915> sheweth <02331> knowledge <01847>. {3} [There is] no <0369> speech <0562> nor <0369> language <01697>, [where] their voice <06963> is not heard <08085>. {4} Their line <06957> is gone <03318> out through all <03605> the earth <0776>, and their words <04405> to the end <07097> of the world <08398>. In them hath he set <07760> a tabernacle <0168> for the sun <08121>, {5} Which [is] as a bridegroom <02860> coming <03318> out of his chamber <02646>, [and] rejoiceth <07797> as a strong <01368> man to run <07323> a race <0734>. {6} His going <04161> forth <04161> [is] from the end <07097> of the heaven <08064>, and his circuit <08622> unto the ends <07098> of it: and there is nothing <0369> hid <05641> from the heat <02535> thereof. {7} The law <08451> of the LORD <03068> [is] perfect <08549>, converting <07725> the soul <05315>: the testimony <05715> of the LORD <03068> [is] sure <0539>, making wise <02449> the simple <06612>.

NRSV - 1 The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard; 4 yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In the heavens he has set a tent for the sun, 5 which comes out like a bridegroom from his wedding canopy, and like a strong man runs its course with joy. 6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and nothing is hid from its heat. 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the LORD are sure, making wise the simple;

TEV - "God's Glory in Creation" - 1 How clearly the sky reveals God's glory! How plainly it shows what he has done! 2 Each day announces it to the following day; each night repeats it to the next. 3 No speech or words are used, no sound is heard; 4 yet their message goes out to all the world and is heard to the ends of the earth. God made a home in the sky for the sun; 5 it comes out in the morning like a happy bridegroom, like an athlete eager to run a race. 6 It starts at one end of the sky and goes across to the other. Nothing can hide from its heat.

"The Law of the LORD" - 7 The law of the LORD is perfect; it gives new strength. The commands of the LORD are trustworthy, giving wisdom to those who lack it. 8 The laws of the LORD are right, and those who obey them are happy. The commands of the LORD are just and give understanding to the mind. 9 Reverence for the LORD is good; it will continue forever. The judgments of the LORD are just; they are always fair. 10 They are more desirable than the finest gold; they are sweeter than the purest honey.

<B2> Psalm 103

KJV w/Strong# - {19} The LORD <03068> hath prepared <03559> his throne <03678> in the heavens <08064>; and his kingdom <04438> ruleth <04910> over all <03605>.

{22} Bless <01288> the LORD <03068>, all <03605> his works <04639> in all <03605> places <04725> of his dominion <04475>: bless <01288> the LORD <03068>, O my soul <05315>.

NRSV - 19 The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.

22 Bless the LORD, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul.

TEV - "The Love of God" - 19 The LORD placed his throne in heaven; he is king over all. 20 Praise the LORD, you strong and mighty angels, who obey his commands, who listen to what he says. 21 Praise the LORD, all you heavenly powers, you servants of his, who do his will! 22 Praise the LORD, all his creatures in all the places he rules. Praise the LORD, my soul!

<B3> Psalm 84

KJV w/Strong# - {11} For the LORD <03068> God <0430> [is] a sun <08121> and shield <04043>: the LORD <03068> will give <05414> grace <02580> and glory <03519>: no <03808> good <02896> [thing] will he withhold <04513> from them that walk <01980> uprightly <08549>.

NRSV - 11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield; he bestows favor and honor. No good thing does the LORD withhold from those who walk uprightly.

TEV - "Longing for God's House" - 10 One day spent in your Temple is better than a thousand anywhere else; I would rather stand at the gate of the house of my God than live in the homes of the wicked. 11 The LORD is our protector and glorious king, blessing us with kindness and honor. He does not refuse any good thing to those who do what is right. 12 LORD Almighty, how happy are those who trust in you!

<B4> Genesis 1

KJV w/Strong# - {27} ...God <0430> created <01254> man <0120> in his [own] image <06754>, in the image <06754> of God <0430> created <01254> he him; male <02145> and female <05347> created <01254> he them.

NRSV - 27 ...God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

TEV - "The Story of Creation" - 26 Then God said, "And now we will make human beings; they will be like us and resemble us. They will have power over the fish, the birds, and all animals, domestic and wild, large and small." 27 So God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created them male and female, 28 blessed them, and said, "Have many children, so that your descendants will live all over the earth and bring it under their control. I am putting you in charge of the fish, the birds, and all the wild animals. 29 I have provided all kinds of grain and all kinds of fruit for you to eat; 30 but for all the wild animals and for all the birds I have provided grass and leafy plants for food" -- and it was done. 31 God looked at everything he had made, and he was very pleased. Evening passed and morning came -- that was the sixth day.

<B5> 1 Chronicles 16

KJV w/Strong# - {11} Seek <01875> the LORD <03068> and his strength <05797>, seek <01245> his face <06440> continually <08548>. {12} Remember <02142> his marvellous <06381> works that he hath done <06213>, his wonders <04159>, and the judgments <04941> of his mouth <06310>;

{23} Sing <07891> unto the LORD <03068>, all <03605> the earth <0776>; shew <01319> forth <01319> from day <03117> to day <03117> his salvation <03444>. {24} Declare <05608> his glory <03519> among the heathen <01471>; his marvellous <06381> works among all <03605> nations <05971>. {25} For great <01419> [is] the LORD <03068>, and greatly <03966> to be praised <01984>:...

NRSV - 11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his presence continually. 12 Remember the wonderful works he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,

23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Tell of his salvation from day to day. 24 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. 25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;...

TEV - "A Song of Praise" - 8 Give thanks to the LORD, proclaim his greatness; tell the nations what he has done. 9 Sing praise to the LORD; tell the wonderful things he has done. 10 Be glad that we belong to him; let all who worship him rejoice! 11 Go to the LORD for help, and worship him continually. 12...13 You descendants of Jacob, God's servant, descendants of Israel, whom God chose, remember the miracles that God performed and the judgments that he gave. 14 The LORD is our God; his commands are for all the world.

19 God's people were few in number, strangers in the land of Canaan. 20 They wandered from country to country, from one kingdom to another. 21 But God let no one oppress them; to protect them, he warned the kings: 22 "Don't harm my chosen servants; do not touch my prophets." 23 Sing to the LORD, all the world! Proclaim every day the good news that he has saved us. 24 Proclaim his glory to the nations, his mighty deeds to all peoples. 25 The LORD is great and is to be highly praised; he is to be honored more than all the gods. 26 The gods of all other nations are only idols, but the LORD created the heavens. 27 Glory and majesty surround him, power and joy fill his Temple.

<B6> Psalm 139

KJV w/Strong# - {14} I will praise <03034> thee; for I am fearfully <03372> [and] wonderfully <06395> made: marvellous <06381> [are] thy works <04639>; and [that] my soul <05315> knoweth <03045> right well.

NRSV - 14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.

TEV - "God's Complete Knowledge and Care" - 13 You created every part of me; you put me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because you are to be feared; all you do is strange and wonderful. I know it with all my heart. 15 When my bones were being formed, carefully put together in my mother's womb, when I was growing there in secret, you knew that I was there -- 16 you saw me before I was born. The days allotted to me had all been recorded in your book, before any of them ever began.

<B7> 1 Corinthians 13

KJV w/Strong# - {9} For we know <1097> in part <3313>, and we prophesy <4395> in part <3313>. {10} But when <3752> that which is perfect <5046> is come <2064>, then <5119> that which is in part <3313> shall be done <2673> away <2673>.

{12} For now <737> we see <991> through <1223> a glass <2072>, darkly <135>; but then <5119> face <4383> to face <4383>: now <737> I know <1097> in part <3313>; but then <5119> shall I know <1921> even <2531> as also <2532> I am known <1921>.

NRSV - 9 For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part; 10 but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end.

12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.

TEV - "Love" - 4 Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; 5 love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; 6 love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. 7 Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. 8 Love is eternal. There are inspired messages, but they are temporary; there are gifts of speaking in strange tongues, but they will cease; there is knowledge, but it will pass. 9 For our gifts of knowledge and of inspired messages are only partial; 10 but when what is perfect comes, then what is partial will disappear. 11 When I was a child, my speech, feelings, and thinking were all those of a child; now that I am a man, I have no more use for childish ways. 12 What we see now is like a dim image in a mirror; then we shall see face-to-face. What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete -- as complete as God's knowledge of me. 13 Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope, and love; and the greatest of these is love.

<B8> Psalm 23

KJV w/Strong# - {1} The LORD <03068> [is] my shepherd <07462>; I shall not want <02637>.

{3} He restoreth <07725> my soul <05315>: he leadeth <05090> me in the paths <04570> of righteousness <06664> for his name's <08034> sake <04616>.

NRSV - 1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.

3 he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his name's sake.

TEV - "The LORD Our Shepherd" - 1 The LORD is my shepherd; I have everything I need. 2 He lets me rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water. 3 He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths, as he has promised. 4 Even if I go through the deepest darkness, I will not be afraid, LORD, for you are with me. Your shepherd's rod and staff protect me.

<B9> Genesis 31

KJV w/Strong# - {3} And the LORD <03068> said <0559> unto Jacob <03290>, Return <07725> unto the land <0776> of thy fathers <01>, and to thy kindred <04138>; and I will be with thee.

NRSV - 3 Then the LORD said to Jacob, "Return to the land of your ancestors and to your kindred, and I will be with you."

  • TEV - "Jacob Flees from Laban" - 1 Jacob heard that Laban's sons were saying, "Jacob has taken everything that belonged to our father. He got all his wealth from what our father owned." 2 He also saw that Laban was no longer as friendly as he had been earlier. 3 Then the LORD said to him, "Go back to the land of your fathers and to your relatives. I will be with you."

  • <B10> Genesis 32

KJV w/Strong# - {24} And Jacob <03290> was left <03498> alone <0905>; and there wrestled <079> a man <0376> with him until <05704> the breaking <05927> of the day <07837>. {25} And when he saw <07200> that he prevailed <03201> not against him, he touched <05060> the hollow <03709> of his thigh <03409>; and the hollow <03709> of Jacob's <03290> thigh <03409> was out of joint <03363>, as he wrestled <079> with him. {26} And he said <0559>, Let me go <07971>, for the day <07837> breaketh <05927>. And he said <0559>, I will not let thee go <07971>, except thou bless <01288> me. {27} And he said <0559> unto him, What <04100> [is] thy name <08034>? And he said <0559>, Jacob <03290>. {28} And he said <0559>, Thy name <08034> shall be called <0559> no <03808> more <05750> Jacob <03290>, but Israel <03478>: for as a prince hast thou power <08280> with God <0430> and with men <0582>, and hast prevailed <03201>. {29} And Jacob <03290> asked <07592> [him], and said <0559>, Tell <05046> [me], I pray <04994> thee, thy name <08034>. And he said <0559>, Wherefore <04100> [is] it [that] thou dost ask <07592> after my name <08034>? And he blessed <01288> him there <08033>. {30} And Jacob <03290> called <07121> the name <08034> of the place <04725> Peniel <06439>: for I have seen <07200> God <0430> face <06440> to face <06440>, and my life <05315> is preserved <05337>.

—Si no me bendices, no te soltaré —contestó Jacob.

NRSV - 24 Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he struck him on the hip socket; and Jacob's hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. 26 Then he said, "Let me go, for the day is breaking." But Jacob said, "I will not let you go, unless you bless me." 27 So he said to him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Jacob." 28 Then the man said, "You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed." 29 Then Jacob asked him, "Please tell me your name." But he said, "Why is it that you ask my name?" And there he blessed him. 30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, "For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life is preserved."

TEV - "Jacob Wrestles at Peniel" - 22 That same night Jacob got up, took his two wives, his two concubines, and his eleven children, and crossed the Jabbok River. 23 After he had sent them across, he also sent across all that he owned, 24 but he stayed behind, alone. Then a man came and wrestled with him until just before daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he was not winning the struggle, he hit Jacob on the hip, and it was thrown out of joint. 26 The man said, "Let me go; daylight is coming." "I won't, unless you bless me," Jacob answered. 27 "What is your name?" the man asked. "Jacob," he answered. 28 The man said, "Your name will no longer be Jacob. You have struggled with God and with men, and you have won; so your name will be Israel." 29 Jacob said, "Now tell me your name." But he answered, "Why do you want to know my name?" Then he blessed Jacob. 30 Jacob said, "I have seen God face-to-face, and I am still alive"; so he named the place Peniel. 31 The sun rose as Jacob was leaving Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip. 32 Even today the descendants of Israel do not eat the muscle which is on the hip joint, because it was on this muscle that Jacob was hit.

    <B13> 1 Peter 1

KJV w/Strong# - {15} ...as he which hath called <2564> you is holy <40>, so <2532> be ye holy <40> in all <3956> manner of conversation <391>; {16} Because <1360> it is written <1125>, Be ye holy <40>; for I am <1510> holy <40>.

{22} Seeing ye have purified <48> your <5216> souls <5590> in obeying <5218> the truth <225> through <1223> the Spirit <4151> unto unfeigned <505> love <5360> of the brethren <5360>, [see that ye] love <25> one <240> another <240> with a pure <2513> heart <2588> fervently <1619>: {23} Being born <313> again <313>, not of corruptible <5349> seed <4701>, but of incorruptible <862>, by the word <3056> of God <2316>, which liveth <2198> and abideth <3306> for ever <165>. {24} For all <3956> flesh <4561> [is] as grass <5528>, and all <3956> the glory <1391> of man <444> as the flower <438> of grass <5528>. The grass <5528> withereth <3583>, and the flower <438> thereof <846> falleth <1601> away <1601>: {25} But the word <4487> of the Lord <2962> endureth <3306> for ever <165>...

NRSV - 15 ...as he who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in all your conduct; 16 for it is written, "You shall be holy, for I am holy."

22 Now that you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth so that you have genuine mutual love, love one another deeply from the heart. 23 You have been born anew, not of perishable but of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God. 24 For "All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, 25 but the word of the Lord endures forever."...

TEV - "A Call to Holy Living" - 13 So then, have your minds ready for action. Keep alert and set your hope completely on the blessing which will be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 14 Be obedient to God, and do not allow your lives to be shaped by those desires you had when you were still ignorant. 15 Instead, be holy in all that you do, just as God who called you is holy. 16 The scripture says, "Be holy because I am holy."

22 Now that by your obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves and have come to have a sincere love for your fellow believers, love one another earnestly with all your heart. 23 For through the living and eternal word of God you have been born again as the children of a parent who is immortal, not mortal. 24 As the scripture says, "All mankind are like grass, and all their glory is like wild flowers. The grass withers, and the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord remains forever." This word is the Good News that was proclaimed to you.

    <B14> Philippians 4

KJV w/Strong# - {8} Finally <3063>, brethren <80>, whatsoever <3745> things are true <227>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] honest <4586>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] just <1342>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] pure <53>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] lovely <4375>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] of good <2163> report <2163>; if <1487> [there be] any <1536> virtue <703>, and if <1487> [there be] any <1536> praise <1868>, think <3049> on these <5023> things.

NRSV - 8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

TEV - "Instructions" - 5 Show a gentle attitude toward everyone. The Lord is coming soon. 6 Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. 7 And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. 8 In conclusion, my brothers, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. 9 Put into practice what you learned and received from me, both from my words and from my actions. And the God who gives us peace will be with you.

DHH - 11 ¿Por qué voy a desanimarme? ¿Por qué voy a estar preocupado? Mi esperanza he puesto en Dios, a quien todavía seguiré alabando. ¡Él es mi Dios y Salvador!

NRSV - 11 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.

TEV - "The Prayer of a Man in Exile" - 9 To God, my defender, I say, "Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go on suffering from the cruelty of my enemies?" 10 I am crushed by their insults, as they keep on asking me, "Where is your God?" 11 Why am I so sad? Why am I so troubled? I will put my hope in God, and once again I will praise him, my savior and my God.

{8} Salvation <03444> [belongeth] unto the LORD <03068>: thy blessing <01293> [is] upon thy people <05971>.

8 Tú, Señor, eres quien salva; ¡bendice, pues, a tu pueblo!

NRSV - 2 many are saying to me, "There is no help for you in God." 3 But you, O LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.

8 Deliverance belongs to the LORD; may your blessing be on your people!

TEV - "Morning Prayer for Help" - 1 I have so many enemies, LORD, so many who turn against me! 2 They talk about me and say, "God will not help him." 3 But you, O LORD, are always my shield from danger; you give me victory and restore my courage. 4 I call to the LORD for help, and from his sacred hill he answers me. 5 I lie down and sleep, and all night long the LORD protects me. 6 I am not afraid of the thousands of enemies who surround me on every side. 7 Come, LORD! Save me, my God! You punish all my enemies and leave them powerless to harm me. 8 Victory comes from the LORD -- may he bless his people.

NRSV - 1 After this there was a festival of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate there is a pool, called in Hebrew Beth-zatha, which has five porticoes. 3 In these lay many invalids -- blind, lame, and paralyzed. 4 [ Omitted in NRSV ] 5 One man was there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had been there a long time, he said to him, "Do you want to be made well?" 7 The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; and while I am making my way, someone else steps down ahead of me." 8 Jesus said to him, "Stand up, take your mat and walk." 9 At once the man was made well, and he took up his mat and began to walk...

TEV - "The Healing at the Pool" - 1 After this, Jesus went to Jerusalem for a religious festival. 2 Near the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem there is a pool with five porches; in Hebrew it is called Bethzatha. 3 A large crowd of sick people were lying on the porches -- the blind, the lame, and the paralyzed. 5 A man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6 Jesus saw him lying there, and he knew that the man had been sick for such a long time; so he asked him, "Do you want to get well?" 7 The sick man answered, "Sir, I don't have anyone here to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up; while I am trying to get in, somebody else gets there first." 8 Jesus said to him, "Get up, pick up your mat, and walk." 9 Immediately the man got well; he picked up his mat and started walking. The day this happened was a Sabbath, 10 so the Jewish authorities told the man who had been healed, "This is a Sabbath, and it is against our Law for you to carry your mat." 11 He answered, "The man who made me well told me to pick up my mat and walk." 12 They asked him, "Who is the man who told you to do this?" 13 But the man who had been healed did not know who Jesus was, for there was a crowd in that place, and Jesus had slipped away.

DHH - 8 ¡Naciones, bendigan a nuestro Dios!

NRSV - 8 Bless our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard, 9 who has kept us among the living, and has not let our feet slip.

TEV - "A Song of Praise and Thanksgiving" - 5 Come and see what God has done, his wonderful acts among men. 6 He changed the sea into dry land; our ancestors crossed the river on foot. There we rejoiced because of what he did. 7 He rules forever by his might and keeps his eyes on the nations. Let no rebels rise against him. 8 Praise our God, all nations; let your praise be heard. 9 He has kept us alive and has not allowed us to fall.

    <B19> Psalm 116

KJV w/Strong# - {7} Return <07725> unto thy rest <04496>, O my soul <05315>; for the LORD <03068> hath dealt <01580> bountifully <01580> with thee. {8} For thou hast delivered <02502> my soul <05315> from death <04194>, mine eyes <05869> from tears <01832>, [and] my feet <07272> from falling <01762>. {9} I will walk <01980> before <06440> the LORD <03068> in the land <0776> of the living <02416>.

NRSV - 7 Return, O my soul, to your rest, for the LORD has dealt bountifully with you. 8 For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. 9 I walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

TEV - "A Man Saved from Death Praises God" - 1 I love the LORD, because he hears me; he listens to my prayers. 2 He listens to me every time I call to him. 3 The danger of death was all around me; the horrors of the grave closed in on me; I was filled with fear and anxiety. 4 Then I called to the LORD, "I beg you, LORD, save me!" 5 The LORD is merciful and good; our God is compassionate. 6 The LORD protects the helpless; when I was in danger, he saved me. 7 Be confident, my heart, because the LORD has been good to me. 8 The LORD saved me from death; he stopped my tears and kept me from defeat. 9 And so I walk in the presence of the LORD in the world of the living. 10 I kept on believing, even when I said, "I am completely crushed," 11 even when I was afraid and said, "No one can be trusted." 12 What can I offer the LORD for all his goodness to me? 13 I will bring a wine offering to the LORD, to thank him for saving me. 14 In the assembly of all his people I will give him what I have promised.

    <B20> 2 Corinthians 4

KJV w/Strong# - {6} For God <2316>, who <3588> commanded <2036> the light <5457> to shine <2989> out of darkness <4655>, hath shined <2989> in our hearts <2588>, to [give] the light <5462> of the knowledge <1108> of the glory <1391> of God <2316> in the face <4383> of Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>.

NRSV - 6 For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

TEV - "Spiritual Treasure in Clay Pots" - 6 The God who said, "Out of darkness the light shall shine!" is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts, to bring us the knowledge of God's glory shining in the face of Christ.

    <B21> 2 Timothy 1

KJV w/Strong# - {8} Be not thou therefore <3767> ashamed <1870> of the testimony <3142> of our Lord <2962>, nor <3366> of me his prisoner <1198>: but be thou partaker <4777> of the afflictions <4777> of the gospel <2098> according <2596> to the power <1411> of God <2316>; {9} Who <3588> hath saved <4982> us, and called <2564> [us] with an holy <40> calling <2821>, not according <2596> to our works <2041>, but according <2596> to his own <2398> purpose <4286> and grace <5485>, which <3588> was given <1325> us in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424> before <4253> the world <166> began, {10} But is now <3568> made <5319> manifest <5319> by the appearing <2015> of our Saviour <4990> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>, who hath abolished <2673> death <2288>, and hath brought <5461> life <2222> and immortality <861> to light <5461> through <1223> the gospel <2098>:

NRSV - 8 Do not be ashamed, then, of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power of God, 9 who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace. This grace was given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, 10 but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

TEV - "Thanksgiving and Encouragement" - 8 Do not be ashamed, then, of witnessing for our Lord; neither be ashamed of me, a prisoner for Christ's sake. Instead, take your part in suffering for the Good News, as God gives you the strength for it. 9 He saved us and called us to be his own people, not because of what we have done, but because of his own purpose and grace. He gave us this grace by means of Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but now it has been revealed to us through the coming of our Savior, Christ Jesus. He has ended the power of death and through the gospel has revealed immortal life.
