KJV w/Strong# - {3} ..God <0430> shall send <07971> forth his mercy <02617> and his truth <0571>.

NRSV - 3 ...God will send forth his steadfast love and his faithfulness.

TEV - "A Prayer for Help" - 2 I call to God, the Most High, to God, who supplies my every need. 3 He will answer from heaven and save me; he will defeat my oppressors. God will show me his constant love and faithfulness. 4 I am surrounded by enemies, who are like man-eating lions. Their teeth are like spears and arrows; their tongues are like sharp swords. 5 Show your greatness in the sky, O God, and your glory over all the earth.

<RR1> Psalm 86

KJV w/Strong# - {15} ...thou, O Lord <0136>, [art] a God <0410> full of compassion <07349>, and gracious <02587>, longsuffering, and plenteous <07227> in mercy <02617> and truth <0571>.

DHH - 15 ...tú, Señor, eres Dios tierno y compasivo, paciente, todo amor y verdad.

NRSV - 15 ...you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

TEV - "A Prayer for Help" - 11 Teach me, Lord, what you want me to do, and I will obey you faithfully; teach me to serve you with complete devotion. 12 I will praise you with all my heart, O Lord my God; I will proclaim your greatness for ever. 13 How great is your constant love for me! You have saved me from the grave itself. 14 The proud are coming against me, O God; a cruel gang is trying to kill me— people who pay no attention to you. 15 But you, O Lord, are a merciful and loving God, always patient, always kind and faithful. 16 Turn to me and have mercy on me; strengthen me and save me, because I serve you, just as my mother did. 17 Show me proof of your goodness, Lord; those who hate me will be ashamed when they see that you have given me comfort and help.

<RR2> Psalm 43

KJV w/Strong# - {3} O send <07971> out thy light <0216> and thy truth <0571>: let them lead <05148> me; let them bring <0935> me unto thy holy <06944> hill <02022>, and to thy tabernacles <04908>. {4} Then will I go <0935> unto the altar <04196> of God <0430>, unto God <0410> my exceeding <08057> joy <01524>: yea, upon the harp <03658> will I praise <03034> thee, O God <0430> my God <0430>. {5} Why <04100> art thou cast <07817> down <07817>, O my soul <05315>? and why <04100> art thou disquieted <01993> within <05921> me? hope <03176> in God <0430>: for I shall yet <05750> praise <03034> him, [who is] the health <03444> of my countenance <06440>, and my God <0430>.

Mi esperanza he puesto en Dios, a quien todavía seguiré alabando. ¡Él es mi Dios y Salvador!

NRSV - 3 O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling. 4 Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy; and I will praise you with the harp, O God, my God. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.

TEV - "The Prayer of a Man in Exile" - 3 Send your light and your truth; may they lead me and bring me back to Zion, your sacred hill, and to your Temple, where you live. 4 Then I will go to your altar, O God; you are the source of my happiness. I will play my harp and sing praise to you, O God, my God. 5 Why am I so sad? Why am I so troubled? I will put my hope in God, and once again I will praise him, my savior and my God.

<RR3> Psalm 138

KJV w/Strong# - {2} I will worship <07812> toward <0413> thy holy <06944> temple <01964>, and praise <03034> thy name <08034> for thy lovingkindness <02617> and for thy truth <0571>: for thou hast magnified <01431> thy word <0565> above <05921> all <03605> thy name <08034>. {3} In the day <03117> when I cried <07121> thou answeredst <06030> me, [and] strengthenedst <07292> me [with] strength <05797> in my soul <05315>. {4} All <03605> the kings <04428> of the earth <0776> shall praise <03034> thee, O LORD <03068>, when <03588> they hear <08085> the words <0561> of thy mouth <06310>.

NRSV - 2 I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness; for you have exalted your name and your word above everything. 3 On the day I called, you answered me, you increased my strength of soul. 4 All the kings of the earth shall praise you, O LORD, for they have heard the words of your mouth.

TEV - "A Prayer of Thanksgiving" - 1 I thank you, LORD, with all my heart; I sing praise to you before the gods. 2 I face your holy Temple, bow down, and praise your name because of your constant love and faithfulness, because you have shown that your name and your commands are supreme. 3 You answered me when I called to you; with your strength you strengthened me. 4 All the kings in the world will praise you, LORD, because they have heard your promises. 5 They will sing about what you have done and about your great glory. 6 Even though you are so high above, you care for the lowly, and the proud cannot hide from you. 7 When I am surrounded by troubles, you keep me safe. You oppose my angry enemies and save me by your power. 8 You will do everything you have promised; LORD, your love is eternal. Complete the work that you have begun.

<B1> Psalm 25

KJV w/Strong# - {4} Shew <03045> me thy ways <01870>, O LORD <03068>; teach <03925> me thy paths <0734>. {5} Lead <01869> me in thy truth <0571>, and teach <03925> me: for thou [art] the God <0430> of my salvation <03468>; on thee do I wait <06960> all <03605> the day <03117>.

DHH - 4 Señor, muéstrame tus caminos; guíame por tus senderos; 5 guíame, encamíname en tu verdad, pues tú eres mi Dios y Salvador. ¡En ti confío a todas horas!

NRSV - 4 Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. 5 Lead me in your truth, and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all day long.

TEV - "A Prayer for Guidance and Protection" - 4 Teach me your ways, O LORD; make them known to me. 5 Teach me to live according to your truth, for you are my God, who saves me. I always trust in you. 6 Remember, O LORD, your kindness and constant love which you have shown from long ago. 7 Forgive the sins and errors of my youth. In your constant love and goodness, remember me, LORD!

<B2> Psalm 85

KJV w/Strong# - {8} I will hear <08085> what <04100> God <0410> the LORD <03068> will speak <01696>: for he will speak <01696> peace <07965> unto his people <05971>, and to his saints <02623>: but let them not turn <07725> again <07725> to folly <03690>.

{11} Truth <0571> shall spring <06779> out of the earth <0776>; and righteousness <06664> shall look <08259> down from heaven <08064>. {12} Yea <01571>, the LORD <03068> shall give <05414> [that which is] good <02896>;...

NRSV - 8 Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his faithful, to those who turn to him in their hearts.

11 Faithfulness will spring up from the ground, and righteousness will look down from the sky. 12 The LORD will give what is good,...

TEV - "A Prayer for the Nation's Welfare" - 4 Bring us back, O God our savior, and stop being displeased with us! 5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will your anger never cease? 6 Make us strong again, and we, your people, will praise you. 7 Show us your constant love, O LORD, and give us your saving help. 8 I am listening to what the LORD God is saying; he promises peace to us, his own people, if we do not go back to our foolish ways. 9 Surely he is ready to save those who honor him, and his saving presence will remain in our land. 10 Love and faithfulness will meet; righteousness and peace will embrace. 11 Man's loyalty will reach up from the earth, and God's righteousness will look down from heaven. 12 The LORD will make us prosperous, and our land will produce rich harvests. 13 Righteousness will go before the LORD and prepare the path for him.

<B3> Jeremiah 9

KJV w/Strong# - {23} Thus <03541> saith <0559> the LORD <03068>, Let not the wise <02450> [man] glory <01984> in his wisdom <02451>, neither <0408> let the mighty <01368> [man] glory <01984> in his might <01369>, let not the rich <06223> [man] glory <01984> in his riches <06239>: {24} But let him that glorieth <01984> glory <01984> in this <02063>, that he understandeth <07919> and knoweth <03045> me, that I [am] the LORD <03068> which exercise <06213> lovingkindness <02617>, judgment <04941>, and righteousness <06666>, in the earth <0776>: for in these <0428> [things] I delight <02654>, saith <05002> the LORD <03068>.

NRSV - 23 Thus says the LORD: Do not let the wise boast in their wisdom, do not let the mighty boast in their might, do not let the wealthy boast in their wealth; 24 but let those who boast boast in this, that they understand and know me, that I am the LORD; I act with steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the LORD.

TEV - "The People of Jerusalem Cry Out for Help" - 23 The LORD says, "Wise men should not boast of their wisdom, nor strong men of their strength, nor rich men of their wealth. 24 If anyone wants to boast, he should boast that he knows and understands me, because my love is constant, and I do what is just and right. These are the things that please me. I, the LORD, have spoken."

<B4> 1 Corinthians 1

KJV w/Strong# - {26} For ye see <991> your <5216> calling <2821>, brethren <80>, how that not many <4183> wise <4680> men after <2596> the flesh <4561>, not many <4183> mighty <1415>, not many <4183> noble <2104>, [are called]: {27} But God <2316> hath chosen <1586> the foolish <3474> things of the world <2889> to confound <2617> the wise <4680>; and God <2316> hath chosen <1586> the weak <772> things of the world <2889> to confound <2617> the things which are mighty <2478>; {28} And base <36> things of the world <2889>, and things which are despised <1848>, hath God <2316> chosen <1586>, [yea], and things which <3588> are not, to bring <2673> to nought <2673> things that are: {29} That no <3956> flesh <4561> should glory <2744> in his presence <1799>.

NRSV - 26 Consider your own call, brothers and sisters: not many of you were wise by human standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, things that are not, to reduce to nothing things that are, 29 so that no one might boast in the presence of God.

TEV - "Christ the Power and the Wisdom of God" - 26 Now remember what you were, my brothers, when God called you. From the human point of view few of you were wise or powerful or of high social standing. 27 God purposely chose what the world considers nonsense in order to shame the wise, and he chose what the world considers weak in order to shame the powerful. 28 He chose what the world looks down on and despises and thinks is nothing, in order to destroy what the world thinks is important. 29 This means that no one can boast in God's presence. 30 But God has brought you into union with Christ Jesus, and God has made Christ to be our wisdom. By him we are put right with God; we become God's holy people and are set free. 31 So then, as the scripture says, "Whoever wants to boast must boast of what the Lord has done."

<B5> 1 Corinthians 2

KJV w/Strong# - {12} Now <1161> we have received <2983>, not the spirit <4151> of the world <2889>, but the spirit <4151> which <3588> is of God <2316>; that we might know <1492> the things that are freely given <5483> to us of God <2316>.

NRSV - 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God.

TEV - "God's Wisdom" - 9 However, as the scripture says, "What no one ever saw or heard, what no one ever thought could happen, is the very thing God prepared for those who love him." 10 But it was to us that God made known his secret by means of his Spirit. The Spirit searches everything, even the hidden depths of God's purposes. 11 It is only a person's own spirit within him that knows all about him; in the same way, only God's Spirit knows all about God. 12 We have not received this world's spirit; instead, we have received the Spirit sent by God, so that we may know all that God has given us.

<B6> 1 Kings 18

KJV w/Strong# - {46} And the hand <03027> of the LORD <03068> was on <0413> Elijah <0452>;...

NRSV - 46 But the hand of the LORD was on Elijah;...

TEV - "The End of the Drought" - 45 In a little while the sky was covered with dark clouds, the wind began to blow, and a heavy rain began to fall. Ahab got in his chariot and started back to Jezreel. 46 The power of the LORD came on Elijah; he fastened his clothes tight around his waist and ran ahead of Ahab all the way to Jezreel.

<B7> 1 Kings 19

KJV w/Strong# - {1} And Ahab <0256> told <05046> Jezebel <0348> all <03605> that Elijah <0452> had done <06213>, and withal how <0834> he had slain <02026> all <03605> the prophets <05030> with the sword <02719>. {2} Then Jezebel <0348> sent <07971> a messenger <04397> unto Elijah <0452>, saying <0559>, So <03541> let the gods <0430> do <06213> [to me], and more <03254> also <03541>, if I make <07760> not thy life <05315> as the life <05315> of one <0259> of them by to morrow <04279> about this time <06256>. {3} And when he saw <07200> [that], he arose <06965>, and went <03212> for his life <05315>, and came <0935> to Beersheba <0884>, which <0834> [belongeth] to Judah <03063>, and left <03240> his servant <05288> there <08033>.

{9} And he came <0935> thither <08033> unto a cave <04631>, and lodged <03885> there <08033>; and, behold <02009>, the word <01697> of the LORD <03068> [came] to him, and he said <0559> unto him, What <04100> doest thou here <06311>, Elijah <0452>? {10} And he said <0559>, I have been very jealous <07065> for the LORD <03068> God <0430> of hosts <06635>: for the children <01121> of Israel <03478> have forsaken <05800> thy covenant <01285>, thrown <02040> down <02040> thine altars <04196>, and slain <02026> thy prophets <05030> with the sword <02719>; and I, [even] I only <0905>, am left <03498>; and they seek <01245> my life <05315>, to take <03947> it away. {11} And he said <0559>, Go <03318> forth <03318>, and stand <05975> upon the mount <02022> before <06440> the LORD <03068>. And, behold <02009>, the LORD <03068> passed <05674> by, and a great <01419> and strong <02389> wind <07307> rent <06561> the mountains <02022>, and brake <07665> in pieces the rocks <05553> before <06440> the LORD <03068>; [but] the LORD <03068> [was] not in the wind <07307>: and after <0310> the wind <07307> an earthquake <07494>; [but] the LORD <03068> [was] not in the earthquake <07494>: {12} And after <0310> the earthquake <07494> a fire <0784>; [but] the LORD <03068> [was] not in the fire <0784>: and after <0310> the fire <0784> a still <01827> small <01851> voice <06963>.

NRSV - 1 Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me, and more also, if I do not make your life like the life of one of them by this time tomorrow." 3 Then he was afraid; he got up and fled for his life, and came to Beer-sheba, which belongs to Judah; he left his servant there.

9 At that place he came to a cave, and spent the night there. Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "What are you doing here, Elijah?" 10 He answered, "I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the Israelites have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away." 11 He said, "Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD, for the LORD is about to pass by." Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence.

TEV - "Elijah on Mount Sinai" - 1 King Ahab told his wife Jezebel everything that Elijah had done and how he had put all the prophets of Baal to death. 2 She sent a message to Elijah: "May the gods strike me dead if by this time tomorrow I don't do the same thing to you that you did to the prophets." 3 Elijah was afraid and fled for his life; he took his servant and went to Beersheba in Judah. Leaving the servant there, 4 Elijah walked a whole day into the wilderness. He stopped and sat down in the shade of a tree and wished he would die. "It's too much, LORD," he prayed. "Take away my life; I might as well be dead!" 5 He lay down under the tree and fell asleep. Suddenly an angel touched him and said, "Wake up and eat." 6 He looked around and saw a loaf of bread and a jar of water near his head. He ate and drank, and lay down again. 7 The LORD's angel returned and woke him up a second time, saying, "Get up and eat, or the trip will be too much for you."8 Elijah got up, ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to walk forty days to Sinai, the holy mountain. 9 There he went into a cave to spend the night. Suddenly the LORD spoke to him, "Elijah, what are you doing here?" 10 He answered, "LORD God Almighty, I have always served you -- you alone. But the people of Israel have broken their covenant with you, torn down your altars, and killed all your prophets. I am the only one left -- and they are trying to kill me!" 11 "Go out and stand before me on top of the mountain," the LORD said to him. Then the LORD passed by and sent a furious wind that split the hills and shattered the rocks -- but the LORD was not in the wind. The wind stopped blowing, and then there was an earthquake -- but the LORD was not in the earthquake. 12 After the earthquake there was a fire -- but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire there was the soft whisper of a voice.

<B8> Psalm 46

KJV w/Strong# - {10} Be still <07503>, and know <03045> that I [am] God <0430>: I will be exalted <07311> among the heathen <01471>, I will be exalted <07311> in the earth <0776>.

NRSV - 10 "Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth."

TEV - "God Is with Us" - 8 Come and see what the LORD has done. See what amazing things he has done on earth. 9 He stops wars all over the world; he breaks bows, destroys spears, and sets shields on fire. 10 "Stop fighting," he says, "and know that I am God, supreme among the nations, supreme over the world." 11 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.

<B9> Psalm 7

KJV w/Strong# - {8} The LORD <03068> shall judge <01777> the people <05971>: judge <08199> me, O LORD <03068>, according to my righteousness <06664>, and according to mine integrity <08537> [that is] in me.

DHH - 8 Señor, tú juzgas a las naciones: júzgame conforme a mi honradez; júzgame conforme a mi inocencia.

NRSV - 8 The LORD judges the peoples; judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and according to the integrity that is in me.

TEV - "A Prayer for Justice" - 8 You are the judge of all mankind. Judge in my favor, O LORD; you know that I am innocent. 9 You are a righteous God and judge our thoughts and desires. Stop the wickedness of evil men and reward those who are good.

<B10> Psalm 119

KJV w/Strong# - {29} Remove <05493> from me the way <01870> of lying <08267>: and grant me thy law <08451> graciously <02603>. {30} I have chosen <0977> the way <01870> of truth <0530>: thy judgments <04941> have I laid <07737> [before me].

NRSV - 29 Put false ways far from me; and graciously teach me your law. 30 I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I set your ordinances before me.

TEV - "Determination to Obey the Law of the LORD" - 27 Help me to understand your laws, and I will meditate on your wonderful teachings. 28 I am overcome by sorrow; strengthen me, as you have promised. 29 Keep me from going the wrong way, and in your goodness teach me your law. 30 I have chosen to be obedient; I have paid attention to your judgments. 31 I have followed your instructions, LORD; don't let me be put to shame. 32 I will eagerly obey your commands, because you will give me more understanding.

<B11> Psalm 51

KJV w/Strong# - {6} Behold <02005>, thou desirest <02654> truth <0571> in the inward <02910> parts: and in the hidden <05640> [part] thou shalt make me to know <03045> wisdom <02451>.

{10} Create <01254> in me a clean <02889> heart <03820>, O God <0430>; and renew <02318> a right <03559> spirit <07307> within <07130> me.

NRSV - 6 You desire truth in the inward being; therefore teach me wisdom in my secret heart.

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.

TEV - "A Prayer for Forgiveness" - 6 Sincerity and truth are what you require; fill my mind with your wisdom. 7 Remove my sin, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. 8 Let me hear the sounds of joy and gladness; and though you have crushed me and broken me, I will be happy once again. 9 Close your eyes to my sins and wipe out all my evil. 10 Create a pure heart in me, O God, and put a new and loyal spirit in me. 11 Do not banish me from your presence; do not take your holy spirit away from me. 12 Give me again the joy that comes from your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. 13 Then I will teach sinners your commands, and they will turn back to you.

<B12> Ephesians 4

KJV w/Strong# - {25} Wherefore <1352> putting <659> away <659> lying <5579>, speak <2980> every <1538> man truth <225> with his neighbour <4139>: for we are members <3196> one <240> of another <240>.

{28} Let him that stole <2813> steal <2813> no <3371> more <3371>: but rather <3123> let him labour <2872>, working <2038> with [his] hands <5495> the thing which is good <18>, that he may have <2192> to give <3330> to him that needeth <5532>. {29} Let no <3361> corrupt <4550> communication <3056> proceed <1607> out of your <5216> mouth <4750>, but that which <1536> is good <18> to the use <5532> of edifying <3619>, that it may minister <1325> grace <5485> unto the hearers <191>.

NRSV - 25 So then, putting away falsehood, let all of us speak the truth to our neighbors, for we are members of one another.

28 Thieves must give up stealing; rather let them labor and work honestly with their own hands, so as to have something to share with the needy. 29 Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only what is useful for building up, as there is need, so that your words may give grace to those who hear.

TEV - "The New Life in Christ" - 25 No more lying, then! Everyone must tell the truth to his fellow believer, because we are all members together in the body of Christ. 26 If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin, and do not stay angry all day. 27 Don't give the Devil a chance. 28 The man who used to rob must stop robbing and start working, in order to earn an honest living for himself and to be able to help the poor. 29 Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you. 30 And do not make God's Holy Spirit sad; for the Spirit is God's mark of ownership on you, a guarantee that the Day will come when God will set you free. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, passion, and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort. 32 Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ.

<B13> 1 Timothy 2

KJV w/Strong# - {1} I exhort <3870> therefore <3767>, that, first <4412> of all <3956>, supplications <1162>, prayers <4335>, intercessions <1783>, [and] giving of thanks <2169>, be made <4160> for all <3956> men <444>; {2} For kings <935>, and [for] all <3956> that are in authority <5247>; that we may lead <1236> a quiet <2263> and peaceable <2272> life <979> in all <3956> godliness <2150> and honesty <4587>. {3} For this <5124> [is] good <2570> and acceptable <587> in the sight <1799> of God <2316> our Saviour <4990>; {4} Who <3739> will <2309> have all <3956> men <444> to be saved <4982>, and to come <2064> unto the knowledge <1922> of the truth <225>.

NRSV - 1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for everyone, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity. 3 This is right and is acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

TEV - "Church Worship" - 1 First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, requests, and thanksgivings be offered to God for all people; 2 for kings and all others who are in authority, that we may live a quiet and peaceful life with all reverence toward God and with proper conduct. 3 This is good and it pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth. 5 For there is one God, and there is one who brings God and mankind together, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself to redeem all mankind. That was the proof at the right time that God wants everyone to be saved, 7 and that is why I was sent as an apostle and teacher of the Gentiles, to proclaim the message of faith and truth. I am not lying; I am telling the truth!

<B14> John 8

KJV w/Strong# - {31} Then <3767> said <3004> Jesus <2424> to those <3588> Jews <2453> which <3588> believed <4100> on him, If <1437> ye continue <3306> in my word <3056>, [then] are ye my disciples <3101> indeed <230>; {32} And ye shall know <1097> the truth <225>, and the truth <225> shall make <1659> you free <1659>.

NRSV - 31 Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, "If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

TEV - "Free Men and Slaves" - 31 So Jesus said to those who believed in him, "If you obey my teaching, you are really my disciples; 32 you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." 33 "We are the descendants of Abraham," they answered, "and we have never been anybody's slaves. What do you mean, then, by saying, "You will be free'?"

<B15> Luke 6

KJV w/Strong# - {6} And it came <1096> to pass also <2532> on <1722> another <2087> sabbath <4521>, that he entered <1525> into <1519> the synagogue <4864> and taught <1321>: and there <1563> was a man <444> whose <846> right <1188> hand <5495> was withered <3584>. {7} And the scribes <1122> and Pharisees <5330> watched <3906> him, whether <1487> he would heal <2323> on <1722> the sabbath <4521> day; that they might find <2147> an accusation <2724> against him. {8} But he knew <1492> their thoughts <1261>, and said <2036> to the man <444> which <3739> had <2192> the withered <3584> hand <5495>, Rise <1453> up, and stand <2476> forth in the midst <3319>. And he arose <450> and stood <2476> forth. {9} Then <3767> said <2036> Jesus <2424> unto them, I will ask <1905> you one <5100> thing; Is it lawful <1832> on the sabbath <4521> days to do <15> good <15>, or <2228> to do <2554> evil <2554>? to save <4982> life <5590>, or <2228> to destroy <622> [it]? {10} And looking <4017> round about <4017> upon them all <3956>, he said <2036> unto the man <444>, Stretch <1614> forth <1614> thy hand <5495>. And he did <4160> so <3779>: and his hand <5495> was restored <600> whole <5199> as the other <243>.

NRSV - 6 On another sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught, and there was a man there whose right hand was withered. 7 The scribes and the Pharisees watched him to see whether he would cure on the sabbath, so that they might find an accusation against him. 8 Even though he knew what they were thinking, he said to the man who had the withered hand, "Come and stand here." He got up and stood there. 9 Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you, is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the sabbath, to save life or to destroy it?" 10 After looking around at all of them, he said to him, "Stretch out your hand." He did so, and his hand was restored.

TEV - "The Man with a Paralyzed Hand" - 6 On another Sabbath Jesus went into a synagogue and taught. A man was there whose right hand was paralyzed. 7 Some teachers of the Law and some Pharisees wanted a reason to accuse Jesus of doing wrong, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal on the Sabbath. 8 But Jesus knew their thoughts and said to the man, "Stand up and come here to the front." The man got up and stood there. 9 Then Jesus said to them, "I ask you: What does our Law allow us to do on the Sabbath? To help or to harm? To save a man's life or destroy it?" 10 He looked around at them all; then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He did so, and his hand became well again.

<B16> Luke 9

KJV w/Strong# - {1} Then <1161> he called <4779> his twelve <1427> disciples <3101> together <4779>, and gave <1325> them power <1411> and authority <1849> over <1909> all <3956> devils <1140>, and to cure <2323> diseases <3554>. {2} And he sent <649> them to preach <2784> the kingdom <932> of God <2316>, and to heal <2390> the sick <770>.

NRSV - 1 Then Jesus called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, 2 and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal.

TEV - "Jesus Sends Out the Twelve Disciples" - 1 Jesus called the twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority to drive out all demons and to cure diseases. 2 Then he sent them out to preach the Kingdom of God and to heal the sick, 3 after saying to them, "Take nothing with you for the trip: no walking stick, no beggar's bag, no food, no money, not even an extra shirt. 4 Wherever you are welcomed, stay in the same house until you leave that town; 5 wherever people don't welcome you, leave that town and shake the dust off your feet as a warning to them." 6 The disciples left and traveled through all the villages, preaching the Good News and healing people everywhere.

<B17> Psalm 107

KJV w/Strong# - {15} Oh that [men] would praise <03034> the LORD <03068> [for] his goodness <02617>, and [for] his wonderful <06381> works to the children <01121> of men <0120>!

{20} He sent <07971> his word <01697>, and healed <07495> them, and delivered <04422> [them] from their destructions <07825>.

NRSV - 15 Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wonderful works to humankind.

20 he sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from destruction.

TEV - "In Praise of God's Goodness" - 10 Some were living in gloom and darkness, prisoners suffering in chains, 11 because they had rebelled against the commands of Almighty God and had rejected his instructions. 12 They were worn out from hard work; they would fall down, and no one would help. 13 Then in their trouble they called to the LORD, and he saved them from their distress. 14 He brought them out of their gloom and darkness and broke their chains in pieces. 15 They must thank the LORD for his constant love, for the wonderful things he did for them. 16 He breaks down doors of bronze and smashes iron bars. 17 Some were fools, suffering because of their sins and because of their evil; 18 they couldn't stand the sight of food and were close to death. 19 Then in their trouble they called to the LORD, and he saved them from their distress. 20 He healed them with his command and saved them from the grave. 21 They must thank the LORD for his constant love, for the wonderful things he did for them. 22 They must thank him with sacrifices, and with songs of joy must tell all that he has done.

<B18> Proverbs 22

KJV w/Strong# - {17} Bow <05186> down <05186> thine ear <0241>, and hear <08085> the words <01697> of the wise <02450>, and apply <07896> thine heart <03820> unto my knowledge <01847>.

{19} That thy trust <04009> may be in the LORD <03068>, I have made known <03045> to thee this day <03117>, even <0637> to thee. {20} Have not I written <03789> to thee excellent <07991> things in counsels <04156> and knowledge <01847>, {21} That I might make thee know <03045> the certainty <07189> of the words <0561> of truth <0571>; that thou mightest answer <07725> the words <0561> of truth <0571> to them that send <07971> unto thee?

NRSV - 17 The words of the wise: Incline your ear and hear my words, and apply your mind to my teaching;

19 So that your trust may be in the LORD, I have made them known to you today -- yes, to you. 20 Have I not written for you thirty sayings of admonition and knowledge, 21 to show you what is right and true, so that you may give a true answer to those who sent you?

TEV - "The Thirty Wise Sayings" - 17 Listen, and I will teach you what wise men have said. Study their teachings, 18 and you will be glad if you remember them and can quote them. 19 I want you to put your trust in the LORD; that is why I am going to tell them to you now. 20 I have written down thirty sayings for you. They contain knowledge and good advice, 21 and will teach you what the truth really is. Then when you are sent to find it out, you will bring back the right answer.

<B19> Romans 15

KJV w/Strong# - {4} For whatsoever <3745> things were written <4270> aforetime <4270> were written <4270> for our <2251> learning <1319>, that we through <1223> patience <5281> and comfort <3874> of the scriptures <1124> might have <2192> hope <1680>.

NRSV - 4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.

TEV - "Please Others, Not Yourselves" - 1 We who are strong in the faith ought to help the weak to carry their burdens. We should not please ourselves. 2 Instead, we should all please our brothers for their own good, in order to build them up in the faith. 3 For Christ did not please himself. Instead, as the scripture says, "The insults which are hurled at you have fallen on me." 4 Everything written in the Scriptures was written to teach us, in order that we might have hope through the patience and encouragement which the Scriptures give us. 5 And may God, the source of patience and encouragement, enable you to have the same point of view among yourselves by following the example of Christ Jesus, 6 so that all of you together may praise with one voice the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

<B20> 2 Timothy 3

KJV w/Strong# - {14} ...continue <3306> thou in the things which <3739> thou hast learned <3129> and hast been assured <4104> of, knowing <1492> of whom <5101> thou hast learned <3129> [them]; {15} And that from a child <1025> thou hast known <1492> the holy <2413> scriptures <1121>, which <3588> are able <1410> to make <4679> thee wise <4679> unto salvation <4991> through <1223> faith <4102> which <3588> is in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>. {16} All <3956> scripture <1124> [is] given by inspiration <2315> of God <2315>, and [is] profitable <5624> for doctrine <1319>, for reproof <1650>, for correction <1882>, for instruction <3809> in righteousness <1343>: {17} That the man <444> of God <2316> may be perfect <739>, throughly <1822> furnished <1822> unto all <3956> good <18> works <2041>.

NRSV - 14 ..., continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it, 15 and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.

TEV - "Last Instructions" - 14 But as for you, continue in the truths that you were taught and firmly believe. You know who your teachers were, 15 and you remember that ever since you were a child, you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living, 17 so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed.

<B21> John 1

KJV w/Strong# - {14} And the Word <3056> was made <1096> flesh <4561>, and dwelt <4637> among <1722> us, (and we beheld <2300> his glory <1391>, the glory <1391> as of the only <3439> begotten <3439> of the Father <3962>,) full <4134> of grace <5485> and truth <225>.

{16} And of his fulness <4138> have all <3956> we received <2983>, and grace <5485> for grace <5485>. {17} For the law <3551> was given <1325> by Moses <3475>, [but] grace <5485> and truth <225> came <1096> by Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>.

NRSV - 14 And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth.

16 From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

TEV - "The Word of Life" - 14 The Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father's only Son. 15 John spoke about him. He cried out, "This is the one I was talking about when I said, "He comes after me, but he is greater than I am, because he existed before I was born." 16 Out of the fullness of his grace he has blessed us all, giving us one blessing after another. 17 God gave the Law through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is the same as God and is at the Father's side, he has made him known.

<B22> Colossians 1

KJV w/Strong# - {3} We give thanks <2168> to God <2316> and the Father <3962> of our Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>, praying <4336> always <3842> for you, {4} Since we heard <191> of your <5216> faith <4102> in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>, and of the love <26> [which ye have] to all <3956> the saints <40>, {5} For the hope <1680> which <3588> is laid <606> up for you in heaven <3772>, whereof <3739> ye heard <4257> before <4257> in the word <3056> of the truth <225> of the gospel <2098>; {6} Which <3588> is come <3918> unto you, as [it is] in all <3956> the world <2889>; and bringeth <2592> forth fruit <2592>, as [it doth] also <2532> in you, since <575> the day <2250> ye heard <191> [of it], and knew <1921> the grace <5485> of God <2316> in truth <225>:

{9} For this <5124> cause <5124> we also <2532>, since <575> the day <2250> we heard <191> [it], do not cease <3973> to pray <4336> for you, and to desire <154> that ye might be filled <4137> with the knowledge <1922> of his will <2307> in all <3956> wisdom <4678> and spiritual <4152> understanding <4907>; {10} That ye might walk <4043> worthy <516> of the Lord <2962> unto all <3956> pleasing <699>, being fruitful <2592> in every <3956> good <18> work <2041>, and increasing <837> in the knowledge <1922> of God <2316>;

NRSV - 3 In our prayers for you we always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 4 for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, 5 because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. You have heard of this hope before in the word of the truth, the gospel 6 that has come to you. Just as it is bearing fruit and growing in the whole world, so it has been bearing fruit among yourselves from the day you heard it and truly comprehended the grace of God.

9 For this reason, since the day we heard it, we have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God's will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God.

TEV - "Prayer of Thanksgiving" - 3 We always give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you. 4 For we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all God's people. 5 When the true message, the Good News, first came to you, you heard about the hope it offers. So your faith and love are based on what you hope for, which is kept safe for you in heaven. 6 The gospel keeps bringing blessings and is spreading throughout the world, just as it has among you ever since the day you first heard about the grace of God and came to know it as it really is.

9 For this reason we have always prayed for you, ever since we heard about you. We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will, with all the wisdom and understanding that his Spirit gives. 10 Then you will be able to live as the Lord wants and will always do what pleases him. Your lives will produce all kinds of good deeds, and you will grow in your knowledge of God.
