KJV w/Strong# (From the ABS Reference
Bible CDROM, published by the American
Bible Society. Used by permission.) Verse numbers are indicated by
French brackets { }. Strong's numbers are enclosed in less-than
and greater-than signs < > and identify the Hebrew or Greek
words from which the KJV words were translated. For a list of some
very helpful Bible study resources that are keyed to Strong's number system,

Please keep in mind that the Strong's numbers do not necessarily represent
the Hebrew and Greek words that were in the original texts -- only those
Hebrew and Greek texts from which the KJV was translated.
All the books of the Old Testament, except Daniel, were first written in Hebrew. The Book of Daniel was first written in Aramaic. And all the books of the New Textament were first written in Greek. The United Bible Societies' Biblia Hebraica and Greek New Testament are the most internationally recognized and definitive reconstructions of the original texts. They are based upon an exhaustive analysis of all of the thousands of available ancient manuscripts. The Hebrew and Greek texts from which the KJV were translated had many errors. {See S&H 139:15-22} This explains why some of the KJV (and New KJV) texts differ so significantly from reliable modern versions. (The New KJV is not really a new translation. It is really simply a modernization of the language of the KJV, and it contains all of the errors that are in the KJV.) Most modern versions are based upon today's best approximation of "the original texts." {See S&H 24:4.} For more details, you can browse or click on http://www.bibletexts.com/kjv-mod.htm to read an article entitled, "Why the King James Version differs with modern versions."
DHH (Dios Habla Hoy, Copyright, 1994, by the United Bible Societies (Sociedades Bíblicas Unidas), also known as Versión Popular. Used by permission. All rights reserved.) This is the Spanish version of the Good News Bible, the Spanish equivalent of the Today's English Version {TEV}. The DHH is translated directly from the same reliable Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts as those used in translating the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) and the Today's English Version (TEV) .

KJV w/Strong# - {2} The works <04639> of the LORD <03068> [are] great <01419>, sought <01875> out of all <03605> them that have pleasure <02656> therein.
NRSV - 2 Great are the works of the LORD, studied by all who delight in them.
TEV - "In Praise of the LORD" - 1 Praise the LORD! With all my heart I will thank the LORD in the assembly of his people. 2 How wonderful are the things the LORD does! All who are delighted with them want to understand them. 3 All he does is full of honor and majesty; his righteousness is eternal. 4 The LORD does not let us forget his wonderful actions; he is kind and merciful. 5 He provides food for those who honor him; he never forgets his covenant. 6 He has shown his power to his people by giving them the lands of foreigners.
KJV w/Strong# - {18} For thus <03541> saith <0559> the LORD <03068> that created <01254> the heavens <08064>; God <0430> himself <01931> that formed <03335> the earth <0776> and made <06213> it; he hath established <03559> it, he created <01254> it not in vain <08414>, he formed <03335> it to be inhabited <03427>: I [am] the LORD <03068>; and [there is] none <0369> else <05750>.
NRSV - 18 For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (he is God!), who formed the earth and made it (he established it; he did not create it a chaos, he formed it to be inhabited!): I am the LORD, and there is no other.
TEV - "The LORD of Creation and History" - 18 The LORD created the heavens -- he is the one who is God! He formed and made the earth -- he made it firm and lasting. He did not make it a desolate waste, but a place for people to live. It is he who says, "I am the LORD, and there is no other god. 19 I have not spoken in secret or kept my purpose hidden. I did not require the people of Israel to look for me in a desolate waste. I am the LORD, and I speak the truth; I make known what is right."
KJV w/Strong# - {3} Incline <05186> your ear <0241>, and come <03212> unto me: hear <08085>, and your soul <05315> shall live <02421>; and I will make <03772> an everlasting <05769> covenant <01285> with you, [even] the sure <0539> mercies <02617> of David <01732>.
{8} For my thoughts <04284> [are] not your thoughts <04284>, neither <03808> [are] your ways <01870> my ways <01870>, saith <05002> the LORD <03068>. {9} For [as] the heavens <08064> are higher <01361> than the earth <0776>, so <03651> are my ways <01870> higher <01361> than your ways <01870>, and my thoughts <04284> than your thoughts <04284>. {10} For as the rain <01653> cometh <03381> down <03381>, and the snow <07950> from heaven <08064>, and returneth <07725> not thither <08033>, but watereth <07301> the earth <0776>, and maketh it bring <03205> forth <03205> and bud <06779>, that it may give <05414> seed <02233> to the sower <02232>, and bread <03899> to the eater <0398>: {11} So <03651> shall my word <01697> be that goeth <03318> forth <03318> out of my mouth <06310>: it shall not return <07725> unto me void <07387>, but it shall accomplish <06213> that which <0834> I please <02654>, and it shall prosper <06743> [in the thing] whereto <0834> I sent <07971> it.
DHH - 3 Vengan a mí y pongan atención, escúchenme y vivirán.
NRSV - 3 Incline your ear, and come to me; listen, so that you may live. I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
TEV - "God's Offer of Mercy" - 3 "Listen now, my people, and come to me; come to me, and you will have life! I will make a lasting covenant with you and give you the blessings I promised to David. 4 I made him a leader and commander of nations, and through him I showed them my power. 5 Now you will summon foreign nations; at one time they did not know you, but now they will come running to join you! I, the LORD your God, the holy God of Israel, will make all this happen; I will give you honor and glory." 6 Turn to the LORD and pray to him, now that he is near. 7 Let the wicked leave their way of life and change their way of thinking. Let them turn to the LORD, our God; he is merciful and quick to forgive. 8 "My thoughts," says the LORD, "are not like yours, and my ways are different from yours. 9 As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways and thoughts above yours. 10 "My word is like the snow and the rain that come down from the sky to water the earth. They make the crops grow and provide seed for planting and food to eat. 11 So also will be the word that I speak -- it will not fail to do what I plan for it; it will do everything I send it to do. 12 "You will leave Babylon with joy; you will be led out of the city in peace. The mountains and hills will burst into singing, and the trees will shout for joy. 13 Cypress trees will grow where now there are briers; myrtle trees will come up in place of thorns. This will be a sign that will last forever, a reminder of what I, the LORD, have done."
<B1> John 1
KJV w/Strong# - {1} In the beginning <746> was the Word <3056>, and the Word <3056> was with God <2316>, and the Word <3056> was God <2316>.
{3} All <3956> things were made <1096> by him; and without <5565> him was not any <1520> thing made <1096> that was made <1096>.
NRSV - 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being
TEV - "The Word of Life" - 1 Before the world was created, the Word already existed; he was with God, and he was the same as God. 2 From the very beginning the Word was with God. 3 Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him. 4 The Word was the source of life, and this life brought light to mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.
Newman and Nida (A Translator's Handbook on the Gospel of John, New York: United Bible Societies, 1980, pages 8-9) comment:
He was the same as God appears in most translations as "the Word was God" [Revised Standard Version (RSV), JB, NAB]. NEB renders by "what God was, the Word was" and Mft "the Logos was divine" {Goodspeed (Gdsp) "the Word was divine"]. Zurcher Bible (Zur) has "the Word was God," with a footnote indicating that this means the Word possessed a divine nature.
These many differences in translation are due to the Greek sentence structure. In this type of equational sentence in Greek (A=B) the subject can be distinguished from the predicate by the fact that the subject has the article before it and the predicate does not. Since "God" does not have the article preceding it, "God" is clearly the predicate and "the Word" is the subject. This means that "God" is here the equivalent of an adjective, and this fact justifies the rendering he (the Word) was the same as God. John is not saying that "the Word" was God the Father, but he is affirming that the same divine predication can be made of "the Word" as can be made of God the Father and so "the Word" can be spoken of as God in the same sense.

KJV w/Strong# - {24} O LORD <03068>, how <04100> manifold <07231> are thy works <04639>! in wisdom <02451> hast thou made <06213> them all <03605>: the earth <0776> is full <04390> of thy riches <07075>.
{30} Thou sendest <07971> forth thy spirit <07307>, they are created <01254>: and thou renewest <02318> the face <06440> of the earth <0127>. {31} The glory <03519> of the LORD <03068> shall endure <01961> for ever <05769>: the LORD <03068> shall rejoice <08055> in his works <04639>.
DHH - 24 ¡Cuántas cosas has hecho, Señor!
NRSV - 24 O LORD, how manifold are your works! In wisdom you have made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.
30 When you send forth your spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the ground. 31 May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works --
TEV - "In Praise of the Creator" - 24 LORD, you have made so many things! How wisely you made them all! The earth is filled with your creatures. 25 There is the ocean, large and wide, where countless creatures live, large and small alike. 26 The ships sail on it, and in it plays Leviathan, that sea monster which you made. 27 All of them depend on you to give them food when they need it. 28 You give it to them, and they eat it; you provide food, and they are satisfied. 29 When you turn away, they are afraid; when you take away your breath, they die and go back to the dust from which they came. 30 But when you give them breath, they are created; you give new life to the earth. 31 May the glory of the LORD last forever! May the LORD be happy with what he has made! 32 He looks at the earth, and it trembles; he touches the mountains, and they pour out smoke. 33 I will sing to the LORD all my life; as long as I live I will sing praises to my God. 34 May he be pleased with my song, for my gladness comes from him. 35 May sinners be destroyed from the earth; may the wicked be no more. Praise the LORD, my soul! Praise the LORD!
KJV w/Strong# - {27} Make me to understand <0995> the way <01870> of thy precepts <06490>: so shall I talk <07878> of thy wondrous <06381> works.
{73} Thy hands <03027> have made <06213> me and fashioned <03559> me: give me understanding <0995>, that I may learn <03925> thy commandments <04687>.
{77} Let thy tender mercies <07356> come <0935> unto me, that I may live <02421>: for thy law <08451> [is] my delight <08191>.
{90} Thy faithfulness <0530> [is] unto all generations <01755>: thou hast established <03559> the earth <0776>, and it abideth <05975>.
NRSV - 27 Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works.
73 Your hands have made and fashioned me; give me understanding that I may learn your commandments.
77 Let your mercy come to me, that I may live; for your law is my delight.
90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast.
TEV - "Determination to Obey the Law of the LORD" - 27 Help me to understand your laws, and I will meditate on your wonderful teachings. 28 I am overcome by sorrow; strengthen me, as you have promised. 29 Keep me from going the wrong way, and in your goodness teach me your law. 30 I have chosen to be obedient; I have paid attention to your judgments. 31 I have followed your instructions, LORD; don't let me be put to shame. 32 I will eagerly obey your commands, because you will give me more understanding.
"The Justice of the Law of the LORD" - 73 You created me, and you keep me safe; give me understanding, so that I may learn your laws. 74 Those who honor you will be glad when they see me, because I trust in your promise. 75 I know that your judgments are righteous, LORD, and that you punished me because you are faithful. 76 Let your constant love comfort me, as you have promised me, your servant. 77 Have mercy on me, and I will live because I take pleasure in your law. 78 May the proud be ashamed for falsely accusing me; as for me, I will meditate on your instructions.
"Faith in the Law of the LORD" - 89 Your word, O LORD, will last forever; it is eternal in heaven. 90 Your faithfulness endures through all the ages; you have set the earth in place, and it remains. 91 All things remain to this day because of your command, because they are all your servants. 92 If your law had not been the source of my joy, I would have died from my sufferings. 93 I will never neglect your instructions, because by them you have kept me alive. 94 I am yours -- save me! I have tried to obey your commands. 95 Wicked men are waiting to kill me, but I will meditate on your laws.
KJV w/Strong# - {39} Know <03045> therefore <03767> this day <03117>, and consider <07725> [it] in thine heart <03824>, that the LORD <03068> he [is] God <0430> in heaven <08064> above <04605>, and upon the earth <0776> beneath <08478>: [there is] none <0369> else <05750>.
NRSV - 39 So acknowledge today and take to heart that the LORD is God in heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.
TEV - "Warning against Idolatry" - 36 He let you hear his voice from heaven so that he could instruct you; and here on earth he let you see his holy fire, and he spoke to you from it. 37 Because he loved your ancestors, he chose you, and by his great power he himself brought you out of Egypt. 38 As you advanced, he drove out nations greater and more powerful than you, so that he might bring you in and give you their land, the land which still belongs to you. 39 So remember today and never forget: the LORD is God in heaven and on earth. There is no other god. 40 Obey all his laws that I have given you today, and all will go well with you and your descendants. You will continue to live in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to be yours forever."

KJV w/Strong# - {1} And Elijah <0452> the Tishbite <08664>, [who was] of the inhabitants <08453> of Gilead <01568>, said <0559> unto Ahab <0256>, [As] the LORD <03068> God <0430> of Israel <03478> liveth <02416>, before <06440> whom <0834> I stand <05975>, there shall not be dew <02919> nor rain <04306> these <0428> years <08141>, but according <06310> to my word <01697>. {2} And the word <01697> of the LORD <03068> came <01961> unto him, saying <0559>, {3} Get <03212> thee hence <02088>, and turn <06437> thee eastward <06924>, and hide <05641> thyself by the brook <05158> Cherith <03747>, that [is] before Jordan <03383>. {4} And it shall be, [that] thou shalt drink <08354> of the brook <05158>; and I have commanded <06680> the ravens <06158> to feed <03557> thee there <08033>.
{6} And the ravens <06158> brought <0935> him bread <03899> and flesh <01320> in the morning <01242>, and bread <03899> and flesh <01320> in the evening <06153>; and he drank of the brook <05158>. {7} And it came <01961> to pass after <07093> a while <03117>, that the brook <05158> dried <03001> up, because <03588> there had <01961> been <01961> no <03808> rain <01653> in the land <0776>. {8} And the word <01697> of the LORD <03068> came <01961> unto him, saying <0559>, {9} Arise <06965>, get <03212> thee to Zarephath <06886>, which <0834> [belongeth] to Zidon <06721>, and dwell <03427> there <08033>: behold <02009>, I have commanded <06680> a widow <0490> woman <0802> there <08033> to sustain <03557> thee. {10} So he arose <06965> and went <03212> to Zarephath <06886>. And when he came <0935> to the gate <06607> of the city <05892>, behold <02009>, the widow <0490> woman <0802> [was] there <08033> gathering <07197> of sticks <06086>: and he called <07121> to her, and said <0559>, Fetch <03947> me, I pray <04994> thee, a little <04592> water <04325> in a vessel <03627>, that I may drink <08354>. {11} And as she was going <03212> to fetch <03947> [it], he called <07121> to her, and said <0559>, Bring <03947> me, I pray <04994> thee, a morsel <06595> of bread <03899> in thine hand <03027>. {12} And she said <0559>, [As] the LORD <03068> thy God <0430> liveth <02416>, I have <03426> not a cake <04580>, but an handful of meal <07058> in a barrel <03537>, and a little <04592> oil <08081> in a cruse <06835>: and, behold <02005>, I [am] gathering <07197> two <08147> sticks <06086>, that I may go <0935> in and dress <06213> it for me and my son <01121>, that we may eat <0398> it, and die <04191>. {13} And Elijah <0452> said <0559> unto her, Fear <03372> not; go <0935> [and] do <06213> as thou hast said <0559>: but make <06213> me thereof <08033> a little <06996> cake <05692> first <07223>, and bring <03318> [it] unto me, and after <0314> make <06213> for thee and for thy son <01121>. {14} For thus <03541> saith <0559> the LORD <03068> God <0430> of Israel <03478>, The barrel <03537> of meal <07058> shall not waste <03615>, neither <03808> shall the cruse <06835> of oil <08081> fail <02637>, until <05704> the day <03117> [that] the LORD <03068> sendeth <05414> rain <01653> upon the earth <0127>. {15} And she went <03212> and did <06213> according to the saying <01697> of Elijah <0452>: and she, and he, and her house <01004>, did <06213> eat <0398> [many] days <03117>.
NRSV - 1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, of Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word." 2 The word of the LORD came to him, saying, 3 "Go from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the Wadi Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. 4 You shall drink from the wadi, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there."
6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the wadi. 7 But after a while the wadi dried up, because there was no rain in the land. 8 Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 9 "Go now to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and live there; for I have commanded a widow there to feed you." 10 So he set out and went to Zarephath. When he came to the gate of the town, a widow was there gathering sticks; he called to her and said, "Bring me a little water in a vessel, so that I may drink." 11 As she was going to bring it, he called to her and said, "Bring me a morsel of bread in your hand." 12 But she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I have nothing baked, only a handful of meal in a jar, and a little oil in a jug; I am now gathering a couple of sticks, so that I may go home and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die." 13 Elijah said to her, "Do not be afraid; go and do as you have said; but first make me a little cake of it and bring it to me, and afterwards make something for yourself and your son. 14 For thus says the LORD the God of Israel: The jar of meal will not be emptied and the jug of oil will not fail until the day that the LORD sends rain on the earth." 15 She went and did as Elijah said, so that she as well as he and her household ate for many days.
TEV - "Elijah and the Drought" - 1 A prophet named Elijah, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to King Ahab, "In the name of the LORD, the living God of Israel, whom I serve, I tell you that there will be no dew or rain for the next two or three years until I say so." 2 Then the LORD said to Elijah, 3 "Leave this place and go east and hide yourself near Cherith Brook, east of the Jordan. 4 The brook will supply you with water to drink, and I have commanded ravens to bring you food there." 5 Elijah obeyed the LORD's command, and went and stayed by Cherith Brook. 6 He drank water from the brook, and ravens brought him bread and meat every morning and every evening. 7 After a while the brook dried up because of the lack of rain.
"Elijah and the Widow in Zarephath" - 8 Then the LORD said to Elijah, 9 "Now go to the town of Zarephath, near Sidon, and stay there. I have commanded a widow who lives there to feed you." 10 So Elijah went to Zarephath, and as he came to the town gate, he saw a widow gathering firewood. "Please bring me a drink of water," he said to her. 11 And as she was going to get it, he called out, "And please bring me some bread, too." 12 She answered, "By the living LORD your God I swear that I don't have any bread. All I have is a handful of flour in a bowl and a bit of olive oil in a jar. I came here to gather some firewood to take back home and prepare what little I have for my son and me. That will be our last meal, and then we will starve to death." 13 "Don't worry," Elijah said to her. "Go on and prepare your meal. But first make a small loaf from what you have and bring it to me, and then prepare the rest for you and your son. 14 For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: "The bowl will not run out of flour or the jar run out of oil before the day that I, the LORD, send rain." 15 The widow went and did as Elijah had told her, and all of them had enough food for many days. 16 As the LORD had promised through Elijah, the bowl did not run out of flour nor did the jar run out of oil.

KJV w/Strong# - {10} Have we not all <03605> one <0259> father <02>? hath not one <0259> God <0410> created <01254> us?...
NRSV - 10 Have we not all one father? Has not one God created us?...
TEV - "The People's Unfaithfulness to God" - 10 Don't we all have the same father? Didn't the same God create us all? Then why do we break our promises to one another, and why do we despise the covenant that God made with our ancestors? 11 The people of Judah have broken their promise to God and done a horrible thing in Jerusalem and all over the country. They have defiled the Temple which the LORD loves. Men have married women who worship foreign gods. 12 May the LORD remove from the community of Israel those who did this, and never again let them participate in the offerings our nation brings to the LORD Almighty.

NRSV - 46 While he was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers were standing outside, wanting to speak to him. 47 Someone told him, "Look, your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to speak to you." 48 But to the one who had told him this, Jesus replied, "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" 49 And pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother."
TEV - "Jesus' Mother and Brothers" - 46 Jesus was still talking to the people when his mother and brothers arrived. Who are my brothers?" 49 Then he pointed to his disciples and said, "Look! Here are my mother and my brothers! 50 Whoever does what my Father in heaven wants him to do is my brother, my sister, and my mother."
KJV w/Strong# - {26} For ye are all <3956> the children <5207> of God <2316> by faith <4102> in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>.

NRSV - 26 for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.
TEV - "The Purpose of the Law" - 26 It is through faith that all of you are God's sons in union with Christ Jesus. 27 You were baptized into union with Christ, and now you are clothed, so to speak, with the life of Christ himself. 28 So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free men, between men and women; you are all one in union with Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are the descendants of Abraham and will receive what God has promised.

NRSV - 1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, at three o'clock in the afternoon. 2 And a man lame from birth was being carried in. People would lay him daily at the gate of the temple called the Beautiful Gate so that he could ask for alms from those entering the temple. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them for alms. 4 Peter looked intently at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us." 5 And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. 6 But Peter said, "I have no silver or gold, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, stand up and walk." 7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up; and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. 8 Jumping up, he stood and began to walk, and he entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God.
11 While he clung to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the portico called Solomon's Portico, utterly astonished. 12 When Peter saw it, he addressed the people, "You Israelites, why do you wonder at this, or why do you stare at us, as though by our own power or piety we had made him walk? 13 The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our ancestors has glorified his servant Jesus,...
16 And by faith in his name, his name itself has made this man strong, whom you see and know; and the faith that is through Jesus has given him this perfect health in the presence of all of you.
TEV - "A Lame Man Is Healed" - 1 One day Peter and John went to the Temple at three o'clock in the afternoon, the hour for prayer. 2 There at the Beautiful Gate, as it was called, was a man who had been lame all his life. Every day he was carried to the gate to beg for money from the people who were going into the Temple. 3 When he saw Peter and John going in, he begged them to give him something. 4 They looked straight at him, and Peter said, "Look at us!" 5 So he looked at them, expecting to get something from them. 6 But Peter said to him, "I have no money at all, but I give you what I have: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth I order you to get up and walk!" 7 Then he took him by his right hand and helped him up. At once the man's feet and ankles became strong; 8 he jumped up, stood on his feet, and started walking around. Then he went into the Temple with them, walking and jumping and praising God. 9 The people there saw him walking and praising God, 10 and when they recognized him as the beggar who had sat at the Beautiful Gate, they were all surprised and amazed at what had happened to him.
"Peter's Message in the Temple" - 11 As the man held on to Peter and John in Solomon's Porch, as it was called, the people were amazed and ran to them. 12 When Peter saw the people, he said to them, "Fellow Israelites, why are you surprised at this, and why do you stare at us? Do you think that it was by means of our own power or godliness that we made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our ancestors, has given divine glory to his Servant Jesus. But you handed him over to the authorities, and you rejected him in Pilate's presence, even after Pilate had decided to set him free. 14 He was holy and good, but you rejected him, and instead you asked Pilate to do you the favor of turning loose a murderer. 15 You killed the one who leads to life, but God raised him from death -- and we are witnesses to this. 16 It was the power of his name that gave strength to this lame man. What you see and know was done by faith in his name; it was faith in Jesus that has made him well, as you can all see.
<B17> 1 Corinthians 2
KJV w/Strong# - {9} ...as it is written <1125>, Eye <3788> hath not seen <1492>, nor <3756> ear <3775> heard <191>, neither <3756> have entered <305> into <1909> the heart <2588> of man <444>, the things which <3739> God <2316> hath prepared <2090> for them that love <25> him. {10} But God <2316> hath revealed <601> [them] unto us by his Spirit <4151>: for the Spirit <4151> searcheth <2045> all <3956> things, yea <2532>, the deep <899> things of God <2316>.
{12} Now <1161> we have received <2983>, not the spirit <4151> of the world <2889>, but the spirit <4151> which <3588> is of God <2316>; that we might know <1492> the things that are freely given <5483> to us of God <2316>.
NRSV - 9 ...as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him" -- 10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.
12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God.
TEV - "God's Wisdom" - 9 However, as the scripture says, "What no one ever saw or heard, what no one ever thought could happen, is the very thing God prepared for those who love him." 10 But it was to us that God made known his secret by means of his Spirit. The Spirit searches everything, even the hidden depths of God's purposes. 11 It is only a person's own spirit within him that knows all about him; in the same way, only God's Spirit knows all about God. 12 We have not received this world's spirit; instead, we have received the Spirit sent by God, so that we may know all that God has given us.
KJV w/Strong# - {20} For the invisible <517> things of him from the creation <2937> of the world <2889> are clearly <2529> seen <2529>, being understood <3539> by the things that are made <4161>, [even] his eternal <126> power <1411> and Godhead <2305>;...
NRSV - 20 Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made...
TEV - "The Guilt of Mankind" - 18 God's anger is revealed from heaven against all the sin and evil of the people whose evil ways prevent the truth from being known. 19 God punishes them, because what can be known about God is plain to them, for God himself made it plain. 20 Ever since God created the world, his invisible qualities, both his eternal power and his divine nature, have been clearly seen; they are perceived in the things that God has made. So those people have no excuse at all! 21 They know God, but they do not give him the honor that belongs to him, nor do they thank him. Instead, their thoughts have become complete nonsense, and their empty minds are filled with darkness.
KJV w/Strong# - {10} All <03605> thy works <04639> shall praise <03034> thee, O LORD <03068>; and thy saints <02623> shall bless <01288> thee. {11} They shall speak <0559> of the glory <03519> of thy kingdom <04438>, and talk <01696> of thy power <01369>;
{17} The LORD <03068> [is] righteous <06662> in all <03605> his ways <01870>, and holy <02623> in all <03605> his works <04639>.
DHH - 10 ¡Que te alaben, Señor, todas tus obras!
NRSV - 10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O LORD, and all your faithful shall bless you. 11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom, and tell of your power,
17 The LORD is just in all his ways, and kind in all his doings.
TEV - "A Hymn of Praise" - 10 All your creatures, LORD, will praise you, and all your people will give you thanks. 11 They will speak of the glory of your royal power and tell of your might, 12 so that everyone will know your mighty deeds and the glorious majesty of your kingdom. 13 Your rule is eternal, and you are king forever. The LORD is faithful to his promises; he is merciful in all his acts. 14 He helps those who are in trouble; he lifts those who have fallen. 15 All living things look hopefully to you, and you give them food when they need it. 16 You give them enough and satisfy the needs of all. 17 The LORD is righteous in all he does, merciful in all his acts. 18 He is near to those who call to him, who call to him with sincerity. 19 He supplies the needs of those who honor him; he hears their cries and saves them. 20 He protects everyone who loves him, but he will destroy the wicked. 21 I will always praise the LORD; let all his creatures praise his holy name forever.
KJV w/Strong# - {1} Make a joyful <07321> noise <07321> unto God <0430>, all <03605> ye lands <0776>: {2} Sing <02167> forth the honour <03519> of his name <08034>: make <07760> his praise <08416> glorious <03519>.
{4} All <03605> the earth <0776> shall worship <07812> thee, and shall sing <02167> unto thee; they shall sing <02167> [to] thy name <08034>. {5} Come <03212> and see <07200> the works <04659> of God <0430>:...
NRSV - 1 Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth; 2 sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise.
4 All the earth worships you; they sing praises to you, sing praises to your name." 5 Come and see what God has done:...
TEV - "A Song of Praise and Thanksgiving" - 1 Praise God with shouts of joy, all people! 2 Sing to the glory of his name; offer him glorious praise! 3 Say to God, "How wonderful are the things you do! Your power is so great that your enemies bow down in fear before you. 4 Everyone on earth worships you; they sing praises to you, they sing praises to your name." 5 Come and see what God has done, his wonderful acts among men. 6 He changed the sea into dry land; our ancestors crossed the river on foot. There we rejoiced because of what he did. 7 He rules forever by his might and keeps his eyes on the nations. Let no rebels rise against him. 8 Praise our God, all nations; let your praise be heard. 9 He has kept us alive and has not allowed us to fall.
