<GT> Matthew 6

KJV w/Strong# - {22} The light <5460> of the body <4983> is the eye <3788>: if <1437> therefore <3767> thine <4675> eye <3788> be single <573>, thy whole <3650> body <4983> shall be full <5460> of light <3088>.

NRSV - 22 “The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light;

TEV - 22 “The eyes are like a lamp for the body. If your eyes are sound, your whole body will be full of light; 23 but if your eyes are no good, your body will be in darkness. So if the light in you is darkness, how terribly dark it will be!

<RR>Psalm 84

KJV w/Strong# - {1} To the chief Musician <05329> upon <05921> Gittith <01665>, A Psalm <04210> for the sons <01121> of Korah <07141>. How <04100> amiable <03039> [are] thy tabernacles <04908>, O LORD <03068> of hosts <06635>! {2} My soul <05315> longeth <03700>, yea <01571>, even <01571> fainteth <03615> for the courts <02691> of the LORD <03068>: my heart <03820> and my flesh <01320> crieth <07442> out for the living <02416> God <0410>. {3} Yea <01571>, the sparrow <06833> hath found <04672> an house <01004>, and the swallow <01866> a nest <07064> for herself, where <0834> she may lay <07896> her young <0667>, [even <0853>] thine altars <04196>, O LORD <03068> of hosts <06635>, my King <04428>, and my God <0430>. {4} Blessed <0835> [are] they that dwell <03427> in thy house <01004>: they will be still <05750> praising <01984> thee. Selah <05542>. {5} Blessed <0835> [is] the man <0120> whose strength <05797> [is] in thee; in whose heart <03824> [are] the ways <04546> [of them].

{8} O LORD <03068> God of hosts<06635>, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.

{10} For a day <03117> in thy courts <02691> [is] better <02896> than a thousand <0505>. I had rather <0977> be a doorkeeper <05605> in the house <01004> of my God <0430>, than to dwell <01752> in the tents <0168> of wickedness <07562>. {11} For the LORD <03068> God <0430> [is] a sun <08121> and shield <04043>: the LORD <03068> will give <05414> grace <02580> and glory <03519>: no <03808> good <02896> [thing] will he withhold <04513> from them that walk <01980> uprightly <08549>.

NRSV - 1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts! 2 My soul longs, indeed it faints for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. 3 Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. 4 Happy are those who live in your house, ever singing your praise. 5 Happy are those whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

8 O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; give ear, O God of Jacob!

10 For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than live in the tents of wickedness. 11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; he bestows favor and honor. No good thing does the Lord withhold from those who walk uprightly.

TEV - 1 How I love your Temple, Lord Almighty! 2 How I want to be there! I long to be in the Lord’s Temple. With my whole being I sing for joy to the living God. 3 Even the sparrows have built a nest, and the swallows have their own home; they keep their young near your altars, 4 How happy are those who live in your Temple, always singing praise to you. 5 How happy are those whose strength comes from you, who are eager to make the pilgrimage to Mount Zion. 6 As they pass through the dry valley of Baca, it becomes a place of springs; the autumn rain fills it with pools. 7 They grow stronger as they go; they will see the God of gods on Zion. 8 Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty. Listen, O God of Jacob! 9 Bless our king, O God, the king you have chosen. 10 One day spent in your Temple is better than a thousand anywhere else; I would rather stand at the gate of the house of my God than live in the homes of the wicked. 11 The Lord is our protector and glorious king, blessing us with kindness and honour. He does not refuse any good thing to those who do what is right. 12 Lord Almighty, how happy are those who trust in you!

<B1> Psalm 103

KJV w/Strong# - {1} Bless <01288> the LORD <03068>, O my soul <05315>: and all <03605> that is within <07130> me, [bless] his holy <06944> name <08034>.

NRSV - 1 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.

TEV - 1 Praise the Lord, my soul! All my being, praise his holy name! 2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and do not forget how kind he is. 3 He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. 4 He keeps me from the grave and blesses me with love and mercy. 5 He fills my life with good things, so that I stay young and strong like an eagle.

<B2> Psalm 19

KJV w/Strong# - {1} To the chief Musician <05329>, A Psalm <04210> of David <01732>. The heavens <08064> declare <05608> the glory <03519> of God <0410>; and the firmament <07549> sheweth <05046> his handywork. {2} Day <03117> unto day <03117> uttereth <05042> speech <0562>, and night <03915> unto night <03915> sheweth <02331> knowledge <01847>. {3} [There is] no <0369> speech <0562> nor <0369> language <01697>, [where] their voice <06963> is not heard <08085>. {4} Their line <06957> is gone <03318> out through all <03605> the earth <0776>, and their words <04405> to the end <07097> of the world <08398>. In them hath he set <07760> a tabernacle <0168> for the sun <08121>, {5} Which [is] as a bridegroom <02860> coming <03318> out of his chamber <02646>, [and] rejoiceth <07797> as a strong <01368> man to run <07323> a race <0734>. {6} His going <04161> forth <04161> [is] from the end <07097> of the heaven <08064>, and his circuit <08622> unto the ends <07098> of it: and there is nothing <0369> hid <05641> from the heat <02535> thereof.

NRSV - 1 The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork. 2 Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. 3 There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard; 4 yet their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In the heavens he has set a tent for the sun, 5 which comes out like a bridegroom from his wedding canopy, and like a strong man runs its course with joy. 6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them; and nothing is hid from its heat.

TEV - 1 How clearly the sky reveals God’s glory! How plainly it shows what he has done! 2 Each day announces it to the following day; each night repeats it to the next. 3 No speech or words are used, no sound in heard; Yet their message goes out to all the world and is heard to the ends of the earth. God made a home in the sky for the sun; 5 It comes out in the morning like a happy bridegroom, like an athlete eager to run a race. 6 It starts at one end of the sky and goes across to the other. Nothing can hide from its heat.

<B3> Isaiah 60

KJV w/Strong# - {1} Arise <06965>, shine <0215>; for thy light <0216> is come <0935>, and the glory <03519> of the LORD <03068> is risen <02224> upon thee. {2} For, behold <02009>, the darkness <02822> shall cover <03680> the earth <0776>, and gross <06205> darkness <06205> the people <03816>: but the LORD <03068> shall arise <02224> upon thee, and his glory <03519> shall be seen <07200> upon thee. {3} And the Gentiles <01471> shall come <01980> to thy light <0216>, and kings <04428> to the brightness <05051> of thy rising <02225>.

{20} Thy sun <08121> shall no <03808> more <05750> go <0935> down; neither <03808> shall thy moon <03391> withdraw <0622> itself: for the LORD <03068> shall be thine everlasting <05769> light <0216>, and the days <03117> of thy mourning <060> shall be ended <07999>. {21} Thy people <05971> also [shall be] all <03605> righteous <06662>: they shall inherit <03423> the land <0776> for ever <05769>, the branch <05342> of my planting <04302>, the work <04639> of my hands <03027>, that I may be glorified <06286>.

NRSV - 1 Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. 2 For darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you. 3 Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.

20 Your sun shall no more go down, or your moon withdraw itself; for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended. 21 Your people shall all be righteous; they shall possess the land forever. They are the shoot that I planted, the work of my hands, so that I might be glorified.

TEV - 1 Arise, Jerusalem, and shine like the sun; The glory of the Lord is shining on you! 2 Other nations will be covered by darkness, But on you the light of the Lord will shine; The brightness of his presence will be with you. 3 Nations will be drawn to your light, And kings to the dawning of your new day.

19 “No longer will the sun be your light by day Or the moon be your light by night; I, the Lord, will be your eternal light; The light of my glory will shine on you. 20 Your days of grief will come to an end. I, the Lord, will be your eternal light, More lasting than the sun and moon. 21 Your people will all do what is right, And will possess the land for ever. I planted them, I made them, To reveal my greatness to all. 22 Even your smallest and humblest family Will become as great as a powerful nation. When the right time comes, I will make this happen quickly. I am the Lord!”

<B4> Exodus 33

KJV w/Strong# - {11} And the LORD <03068> spake <01696> unto Moses <04872> face <06440> to face <06440>, as a man <0376> speaketh <01696> unto his friend <07453>...

NRSV - 11 Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend...

TEV - 7 Whenever the people of Israel set up camp, Moses would take the sacred Tent and put it up some distance away from the camp. It was called the Tent of the Lord’s presence, and anyone who wanted to consult the Lord would go out to it. 8Whenever Moses went out there, the people would stand at the door of their tents and watch Moses until he entered it. 9After Moses had gone in, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the door of the Tent, and the Lord would speak to Moses from the cloud. 10As soon as the people saw the pillar of cloud at the door of the Tent, they would bow down. 11The Lord would speak with Moses face to face, just as someone speaks with a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp. But the young man who was his helper, Joshua son of Nun, stayed in the Tent.

<B5> Exodus 34

KJV w/Strong# - {1} And the LORD <03068> said <0559> unto Moses <04872>, Hew <06458> thee two <08147> tables <03871> of stone <068> like unto the first <07223>: and I will write <03789> upon [these] tables <03871> the words <01697> that were in the first <07223> tables <03871>, which <0834> thou brakest <07665>. {2} And be ready <03559> in the morning <01242>, and come <05927> up in the morning <01242> unto mount <02022> Sinai <05514>, and present <05324> thyself there <08033> to me in the top <07218> of the mount <02022>.

{27} And the LORD <03068> said <0559> unto Moses <04872>, Write <03789> thou these <0428> words <01697>: for after <05921> the tenor <06310> of these <0428> words <01697> I have made <03772> a covenant <01285> with thee and with Israel <03478>. {28} And he was there <08033> with the LORD <03068> forty <0705> days <03117> and forty <0705> nights <03915>; he did neither <03808> eat <0398> bread <03899>, nor <03808> drink <08354> water <04325>. And he wrote <03789> upon the tables <03871> the words <01697> of the covenant <01285>, the ten <06235> commandments <01697>. {29} And it came <01961> to pass, when Moses <04872> came <03381> down <03381> from mount <02022> Sinai <05514> with the two <08147> tables <03871> of testimony <05715> in Moses <04872>' hand <03027>, when he came <03381> down <03381> from the mount <02022>, that Moses <04872> wist <03045> not that the skin <05785> of his face <06440> shone <07160> while he talked <01696> with him. {30} And when Aaron <0175> and all <03605> the children <01121> of Israel <03478> saw <07200> Moses <04872>, behold <02009>, the skin <05785> of his face <06440> shone <07160>; and they were afraid <03372> to come <05066> nigh <05066> him.

{33} And [till] Moses <04872> had done <03615> speaking <01696> with them, he put <05414> a vail <04533> on <05921> his face <06440>. {34} But when Moses <04872> went <0935> in before <06440> the LORD <03068> to speak <01696> with him, he took <05493> the vail <04533> off, until <05704> he came <03318> out. And he came <03318> out, and spake <01696> unto the children <01121> of Israel <03478> [that] which <0834> he was commanded <06680>. {35} And the children <01121> of Israel <03478> saw <07200> the face <06440> of Moses <04872>, that the skin <05785> of Moses <04872>' face <06440> shone <07160>:...

NRSV - 1 The Lord said to Moses, “Cut two tablets of stone like the former ones, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets, which you broke. 2 Be ready in the morning, and come up in the morning to Mount Sinai and present yourself there to me, on the top of the mountain.

27 The Lord said to Moses: Write these words; in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel. 28 He was there with the Lord forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. 29 Moses came down from Mount Sinai. As he came down from the mountain with the two tablets of the covenant in his hand, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God. 30 When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, the skin of his face was shining, and they were afraid to come near him.

33 When Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil on his face; 34 but whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with him, he would take the veil off, until he came out; and when he came out, and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, 35 the Israelites would see the face of Moses, that the skin of his face was shining;...

TEV - 1 The Lord said to Moses, “Cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on them the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke. 2 Be ready tomorrow morning, and come up Mount Sinai to meet me there at the top. 3 No one is to come up with you; no one is to be seen on any part of the mountain; and no sheep or cattle are to graze at the foot of the mountain.” 4So Moses cut two more stone tablets, and early the next morning he carried them up Mount Sinai, just as the Lord had commanded.

27 The Lord said to Moses, “Write these words down, because it is on the basis of these words that I am making a covenant with you and with Israel.” 28 Moses stayed there with the Lord 40 days and nights, eating and drinking nothing. He wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments. 29 When Moses went down from Mount Sinai carrying the Ten Commandments, his face was shining because he had been speaking with the Lord; but he did not know it. 30 Aaron and all the people looked at Moses and saw that his face was shining, and they were afraid to go near him. 31 But Moses called them, and Aaron and all the leaders of the community went to him, and Moses spoke to them. 32 After that, all the people of Israel gathered round him, and Moses gave them all the laws that the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai. 33 When Moses had finished speaking to them, he covered his face with a veil. 34 Whenever Moses went into the Tent of the Lord’s presence to speak to the Lord, he took the veil off. When he came out, he would tell the people of Israel everything that he had been commanded to say, 35 and they would see that his face was shining. Then he would put the veil back on until the next time he went to speak to the Lord.

<B6> Daniel 12

KJV w/Strong# - {3} And they that be wise <07919> shall shine <02094> as the brightness <02096> of the firmament <07549>; and they that turn many <07227> to righteousness <06663> as the stars <03556> for ever <05769> and ever <05703>.

NRSV - 3 Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.

TEV - 1 The angel wearing linen clothes said, “At that time the great angel Michael, who guards your people, will appear. Then there will be a time of troubles, the worst since nations first came into existence. When that time comes, all the people of your nation whose names are written in God’s book will be saved. 2 Many of those who have already died will live again: some will enjoy eternal life, and some will suffer eternal disgrace. 3 The wise leaders will shine with all the brightness of the sky. And those who have taught many people to do what is right will shine like the stars for ever.”

<B7> Psalm 42

KJV w/Strong# - {11} Why <04100> art thou cast <07817> down <07817>, O my soul <05315>? and why <04100> art thou disquieted <01993> within <05921> me? hope <03176> thou in God <0430>: for I shall yet <05750> praise <03034> him, [who is] the health <03444> of my countenance <06440>, and my God <0430>.

NRSV - 11 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my help and my God.

TEV - 9 To God, my defender, I say, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go on suffering from the cruelty of my enemies?” 10 I am crushed by their insults, as they keep on asking me, “Where is your God?” 11 Why am I so sad? Why am I so troubled? I will put my hope in God, and once again I will praise him, my saviour and my God.

<B8> Psalm 63

KJV w/Strong# - {1} O God <0430>, thou [art] my God <0410>; early <07836> will I seek <07836> thee: my soul <05315> thirsteth <06770> for thee, my flesh <01320> longeth <03642> for thee in a dry <06723> and thirsty land <0776>, where no <01097> water <04325> is; {2} To see <07200> thy power <05797> and thy glory <03519>, so <03651> [as] I have seen <02372> thee in the sanctuary <06944>. {3} Because <03588> thy lovingkindness <02617> [is] better <02896> than life <02416>, my lips <08193> shall praise <07623> thee. {4} Thus <03651> will I bless <01288> thee while I live <02416>: I will lift <05375> up my hands <03709> in thy name <08034>. {5} My soul <05315> shall be satisfied <07646> as [with] marrow <02459> and fatness <01880>; and my mouth <06310> shall praise <01984> [thee] with joyful <07445> lips <08193>:

NRSV - 1 O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. 3 Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. 4 So I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on your name. 5 My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast,

TEV - 1 O God, you are my God, and I long for you. My whole being desires you; like a dry, worn-out, and waterless land, my soul is thirsty for you. 2 Let me see you in the sanctuary; let me see how mighty and glorious you are. 3 Your constant love is better than life itself, and so I will praise you. 4 I will give you thanks as long as I live; I will raise my hands to you in prayer. 5 My soul will feast and be satisfied, and I will sing glad songs of praise to you.

<B9> Psalm 67

KJV w/Strong# - {1} God <0430> be merciful <02603> unto us, and bless <01288> us; [and] cause his face <06440> to shine <0215> upon us; {2} That thy way <01870> may be known <03045> upon earth <0776>, thy saving <03444> health among all <03605> nations <01471>.

NRSV - 1 May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, 2 that your way may be known upon earth, your saving power among all nations.

TEV - 1 God, be merciful to us and bless us; look on us with kindness, 2 so that the whole world may know your will; so that all nations may know your salvation. 3 May the peoples praise you, O God; may all the peoples praise you!

<B10> Psalm 18

KJV w/Strong# - {32} [It is] God <0410> that girdeth <0247> me with strength <02428>, and maketh <05414> my way <01870> perfect <08549>.

NRSV - 32 the God who girded me with strength, and made my way safe.

TEV - 30 This God—how perfect are his deeds! How dependable his words! He is like a shield for all who seek his protection. 31 The Lord alone is God; God alone is our defence. 32 He is the God who makes me strong, who makes my pathway safe. 33 He makes me sure-footed as a deer; he keeps me safe on the mountains. 34 He trains me for battle, so that I can use the strongest bow.

<B11> Isaiah 40

KJV w/Strong# - {28} Hast thou not known <03045>? hast thou not heard <08085>, [that] the everlasting <05769> God <0430>, the LORD <03068>, the Creator <01254> of the ends <07098> of the earth <0776>, fainteth <03286> not, neither <03808> is weary <03021>? [there is] no <0369> searching <02714> of his understanding <08394>. {29} He giveth <05414> power <03581> to the faint <03287>; and to [them that have] no <0369> might <0202> he increaseth <07235> strength <06109>. {30} Even the youths <05288> shall faint <03286> and be weary <03021>, and the young men shall utterly fall <03782>: {31} But they that wait <06960> upon the LORD <03068> shall renew <02498> [their] strength <03581>; they shall mount <05927> up with wings <083> as eagles <05404>; they shall run <07323>, and not be weary <03021>; [and] they shall walk <03212>, and not faint <03286>.

NRSV - 28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. 29 He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. 30 Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; 31 but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.

TEV - 27 Israel, why then do you complain that the Lord doesn’t know your troubles or care if you suffer injustice? 28 Don’t you know? Haven’t you heard? The Lord is the everlasting God; he created all the world. He never grows tired or weary. No one understands his thoughts. 29 He strengthens those who are weak and tired. 30 Even those who are young grow weak; young people can fall exhausted. 31 But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak.

<B12> Matthew 9

KJV w/Strong# - {35} And Jesus <2424> went <4013> about <4013> all <3956> the cities <4172> and villages <2968>, teaching <1321> in their synagogues <4864>, and preaching <2784> the gospel <2098> of the kingdom <932>, and healing <2323> every <3956> sickness <3554> and every <3956> disease <3119> among <1722> the people <2992>. {36} But when he saw <1492> the multitudes <3793>, he was moved <4697> with compassion <4697> on <4012> them, because <3754> they fainted <1590>, and were scattered <4496> abroad <4496>, as sheep <4263> having <2192> no <3361> shepherd <4166>. {37} Then <5119> saith <3004> he unto his disciples <3101>, The harvest <2326> truly <3303> [is] plenteous <4183>, but the labourers <2040> [are] few <3641>; {38} Pray <1189> ye therefore <3767> the Lord <2962> of the harvest <2326>, that he will send <1544> forth <1544> labourers <2040> into <1519> his harvest <2326>.

NRSV - 35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness. 36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

TEV - 35 Jesus went round visiting all the towns and villages. He taught in the synagogues, preached the Good News about the Kingdom, and healed people with every kind of disease and sickness. As he saw the crowds, his heart was filled with pity for them, because they were worried and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. So he said to his disciples, “The harvest is large, but there are few workers to gather it in. Pray to the owner of the harvest that he will send out workers to gather in his harvest.”

<B13> Matthew 11

KJV w/Strong# - {15} He that hath <2192> ears <3775> to hear <191>, let him hear <191>.

{28} Come <1205> unto me, all <3956> [ye] that labour <2872> and are heavy laden <5412>, and I will give you rest <373>. {29} Take <142> my yoke <2218> upon you, and learn <3129> of me; for I am <1510> meek <4235> and lowly <5011> in heart <2588>: and ye shall find <2147> rest <372> unto your <5216> souls <5590>. {30} For my yoke <2218> [is] easy <5543>, and my burden <5413> is light <1645>.

NRSV - 15 Let anyone with ears listen!

28 “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

TEV - 7 While John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus spoke about him to the crowds: “When you went out to John in the desert, what did you expect to see? A blade of grass bending in the wind? 8 What did you go out to see? A man dressed up in fancy clothes? People who dress like that live in palaces! 9 Tell me, what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes indeed, but you saw much more than a prophet. 10 For John is the one of whom the scripture says: ‘God said, I will send my messenger ahead of you to open the way for you.’ 11 I assure you that John the Baptist is greater than anyone who has ever lived. But the one who is least in the Kingdom of heaven is greater than John. 12 From the time John preached his message until this very day the Kingdom of heaven has suffered violent attacks, and violent men try to seize it. 13 Until the time of John all the prophets and the Law of Moses spoke about the Kingdom; 14 and if you are willing to believe their message, John is Elijah, whose coming was predicted. 15 Listen, then, if you have ears!

25 At that time Jesus said, “Father, Lord of heaven and earth! I thank you because you have shown to the unlearned what you have hidden from the wise and learned. 26 Yes, Father, this was how you wanted it to happen. 27 “My Father has given me all things. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28 "Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. 30 For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light.”

<B14> Psalm 19

KJV w/Strong# - {7} The law <08451> of the LORD <03068> [is] perfect <08549>, converting <07725> the soul <05315>: the testimony <05715> of the LORD <03068> [is] sure <0539>, making wise <02449> the simple <06612>. {8} The statutes <06490> of the LORD <03068> [are] right <03477>, rejoicing <08055> the heart <03820>: the commandment <04687> of the LORD <03068> [is] pure <01249>, enlightening <0215> the eyes <05869>.

NRSV - 7 The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple; 8 the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is clear, enlightening the eyes;

  • TEV - 7 The law of the Lord is perfect; it gives new strength. The commands of the Lord are trustworthy, giving wisdom to those who lack it. 8 The laws of the Lord are right, and those who obey them are happy. The commands of the Lord are just and give understanding to the mind. 9 Reverence for the Lord is good; it will continue for ever. The judgements of the Lord are just; they are always fair. 10 They are more desirable than the finest gold; they are sweeter than the purest honey. 11 They give knowledge to me, your servant; I am rewarded for obeying them.

  • <B15> Mark 6

KJV w/Strong# - {34} And Jesus <2424>, when he came <1831> out, saw <1492> much <4183> people <3793>, and was moved <4697> with compassion <4697> toward <1909> them, because <3754> they were as sheep <4263> not having <2192> a shepherd <4166>: and he began <756> to teach <1321> them many <4183> things.

NRSV - 34 As he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things.

TEV - 33 Many people, however, saw them leave and knew at once who they were; so they went from all the towns and ran ahead by land and arrived at the place ahead of Jesus and his disciples. 34 When Jesus got out of the boat, he saw this large crowd, and his heart was filled with pity for them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began to teach them many things. 35 When it was getting late, his disciples came to him and said, “It is already very late, and this is a lonely place. 36 Send the people away, and let them go to the nearby farms and villages in order to buy themselves something to eat.”37 “You yourselves give them something to eat,” Jesus answered...

    <B16> Mark 10

KJV w/Strong# - {46} And they came <2064> to Jericho <2410>: and as he went <1607> out of Jericho <2410> with his disciples <3101> and a great <2425> number <3793> of people <3793>, blind <5185> Bartimaeus <924>, the son <5207> of Timaeus <5090>, sat <2521> by the highway <3598> side <3844> begging <4319>. {47} And when he heard <191> that it was Jesus <2424> of Nazareth <3480>, he began <756> to cry <2896> out, and say <3004>, Jesus <2424>, [thou] Son <5207> of David <1138>, have mercy <1653> on me. {48} And many <4183> charged <2008> him that he should hold <4623> his peace <4623>: but he cried <2896> the more <3123> a great <4183> deal, [Thou] Son <5207> of David <1138>, have mercy <1653> on me. {49} And Jesus <2424> stood <2476> still <2476>, and commanded <2036> him to be called <5455>. And they call <5455> the blind <5185> man, saying <3004> unto him, Be of good comfort <2293>, rise <1453>; he calleth <5455> thee. {50} And he, casting <577> away <577> his garment <2440>, rose <450>, and came <2064> to Jesus <2424>. {51} And Jesus <2424> answered <611> and said <3004> unto him, What <5101> wilt <2309> thou that I should do <4160> unto thee? The blind <5185> man said <2036> unto him, Lord <4462>, that I might receive <308> my sight <308>. {52} And Jesus <2424> said <2036> unto him, Go <5217> thy way; thy faith <4102> hath made <4982> thee whole <4982>. And immediately <2112> he received <308> his sight <308>, and followed <190> Jesus <2424> in the way <3598>.

NRSV - 46 They came to Jericho. As he and his disciples and a large crowd were leaving Jericho, Bartimaeus son of Timaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the roadside. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Many sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he cried out even more loudly, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 Jesus stood still and said, “Call him here.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart; get up, he is calling you.” 50 So throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. 51 Then Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “My teacher, let me see again.” 52 Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” Immediately he regained his sight and followed him on the way.

TEV - 46 They came to Jericho, and as Jesus was leaving with his disciples and a large crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus son of Timaeus was sitting by the road. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus! Son of David! Take pity on me!” 48 Many of the people scolded him and told him to be quiet. But he shouted even more loudly, “Son of David, take pity on me!” 49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man. “Cheer up!” they said. “Get up, he is calling you.” 50 He threw off his cloak, jumped up, and came to Jesus. 51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. “Teacher,” the blind man answered, “I want to see again.” 52 “Go,” Jesus told him, “your faith has made you well.” At once he was able to see and followed Jesus on the road.

    <B17> Matthew 17

KJV w/Strong# - {1} And after <3326> six <1803> days <2250> Jesus <2424> taketh <3880> Peter <4074>, James <2385>, and John <2491> his brother <80>, and bringeth <399> them up into <1519> an high <5308> mountain <3735> apart <2398>, {2} And was transfigured <3339> before <1715> them: and his face <4383> did shine <2989> as the sun <2246>, and his raiment <2440> was white <3022> as the light <5457>. {3} And, behold <2400>, there appeared <3700> unto them Moses <3475> and Elias <2243> talking <4814> with him. {4} Then <1161> answered <611> Peter <4074>, and said <2036> unto Jesus <2424>, Lord <2962>, it is good <2570> for us to be here <5602>: if <1487> thou wilt <2309>, let us make <4160> here <5602> three <5140> tabernacles <4633>; one <3391> for thee, and one <3391> for Moses <3475>, and one <3391> for Elias <2243>. {5} While he yet <2089> spake <2980>, behold <2400>, a bright <5460> cloud <3507> overshadowed <1982> them: and behold <2400> a voice <5456> out of the cloud <3507>, which said <3004>, This <3778> is my beloved <27> Son <5207>, in whom <3739> I am well <2106> pleased <2106>; hear <191> ye him. {6} And when the disciples <3101> heard <191> [it], they fell <4098> on <1909> their face <4383>, and were sore <4970> afraid <5399>. {7} And Jesus <2424> came <4334> and touched <680> them, and said <2036>, Arise <1453>, and be not afraid <5399>. {8} And when they had lifted <1869> up their eyes <3788>, they saw <1492> no <3762> man <3762>, save <1508> Jesus <2424> only <3441>.

NRSV - 17 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and his brother John and led them up a high mountain, by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became dazzling white. 3 Suddenly there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4 Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if you wish, I will make three dwellingshere, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud a voice said, “This is my Son, the Beloved; with him I am well pleased; listen to him!” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell to the ground and were overcome by fear. 7 But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Get up and do not be afraid.” 8 And when they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus himself alone.

TEV - 1 Six days later Jesus took with him Peter and the brothers James and John and led them up a high mountain where they were alone. 2 As they looked on, a change came over Jesus: his face was shining like the sun, and his clothes were dazzling white. 3 Then the three disciples saw Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus. 4 So Peter spoke up and said to Jesus, “Lord, how good it is that we are here! If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was talking, a shining cloud came over them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my own dear Son, with whom I am pleased—listen to him!” 6 When the disciples heard the voice, they were so terrified that they threw themselves face downwards on the ground. 7 Jesus came to them and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid!” 8 So they looked up and saw no one there but Jesus. 9 As they came down the mountain, Jesus ordered them, “Don’t tell anyone about this vision you have seen until the Son of Man has been raised from death.”

    <B18> 2 Corinthians 3

KJV w/Strong# - {18} ...we all <3956>, with open <343> face <4383> beholding <2734> as in a glass <2734> the glory <1391> of the Lord <2962>, are changed <3339> into the same <846> image <1504> from glory <1391> to glory <1391>, [even] as <2509> by the Spirit <4151> of the Lord <2962>.

NRSV - 18 ...all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.

TEV - 7 The Law was carved in letters on stone tablets, and God’s glory appeared when it was given. Even though the brightness on Moses’ face was fading, it was so strong that the people of Israel could not keep their eyes fixed on him. If the Law, which brings death when it is in force, came with such glory, 8 how much greater is the glory that belongs to the activity of the Spirit! 9 The system which brings condemnation was glorious; how much more glorious is the activity which brings salvation! 10 We may say that because of the far brighter glory now the glory that was so bright in the past is gone. 11 For if there was glory in that which lasted for a while, how much more glory is there in that which lasts for ever! 12 Because we have this hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who had to put a veil over his face so that the people of Israel would not see the brightness fade and disappear. 14 Their minds, indeed, were closed; and to this very day their minds are covered with the same veil as they read the books of the old covenant. The veil is removed only when a person is joined to Christ. 15 Even today, whenever they read the Law of Moses, the veil still covers their minds. 16 But it can be removed, as the scripture says about Moses: “His veil was removed when he turned to the Lord.” 17 Now, “the Lord” in this passage is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom. 18 All of us, then, reflect the glory of the Lord with uncovered faces; and that same glory, coming from the Lord, who is the Spirit, transforms us into his likeness in an ever greater degree of glory.
