My whole being desires you; like a dry, worn-out, and waterless land, my soul is thirsty for you. 2 Let me see you in the sanctuary; let me see how mighty and glorious you are. 3 Your constant love is better than life itself, and so I will praise you. 4 I will give you thanks as long as I live; I will raise my hands to you in prayer. 5 My soul will feast and be satisfied, and I will sing glad songs of praise to you. 6 As I lie in bed, I remember you; all night long I think of you, 7 because you have always been my help. In the shadow of your wings I sing for joy. 8 I cling to you, and your hand keeps me safe.

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 Hear <08085> the right <06664>, O LORD <03068>, attend <07181> unto my cry <07440>, give ear <0238> unto my prayer <08605>, [that goeth] not out of feigned <05234> lips <08193>.

5 Hold <08551> up my goings <0838> in thy paths <04570>, [that] my footsteps <06471> slip <04131> not. 6 I have called <07121> upon thee, for thou wilt hear <06030> me, O God <0410>: incline <05186> thine ear <0241> unto me, [and hear <08085>] my speech <0565>. 7 Shew thy marvellous <06395> lovingkindness <02617>, O thou that savest <03467> by thy right <03225> hand <03225> them which put their trust <02620> [in thee] from those that rise <06965> up [against them]. 8 Keep <08104> me as the apple <01323> of the eye <05869>, hide <05641> me under the shadow <06738> of thy wings <03671>, 9 From the wicked <07563> that oppress <07703> me, [from] my deadly <05315> enemies <0341>, [who] compass <05362> me about.

15 As for me, I will behold <02372> thy face <06440> in righteousness <06664>: I shall be satisfied <07646>, when I awake <06974>, with thy likeness <08544>.

KJV - 1 Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not. 6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech. 7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, 9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

15 As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

NRSV - 1 Hear a just cause, O LORD; attend to my cry; give ear to my prayer from lips free of deceit.

5 My steps have held fast to your paths; my feet have not slipped. 6 I call upon you, for you will answer me, O God; incline your ear to me, hear my words. 7 Wondrously show your steadfast love, O savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at your right hand. 8 Guard me as the apple of the eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings, 9 from the wicked who despoil me, my deadly enemies who surround me.

15 As for me, I shall behold your face in righteousness; when I awake I shall be satisfied, beholding your likeness.

TEV - "The Prayer of an Innocent Man" - 1 Listen, O LORD, to my plea for justice; pay attention to my cry for help! Listen to my honest prayer. 2 You will judge in my favor, because you know what is right. 3 You know my heart. You have come to me at night; you have examined me completely and found no evil desire in me. I speak no evil, 4 as others do; I have obeyed your command and have not followed paths of violence. 5 I have always walked in your way and have never strayed from it. 6 I pray to you, O God, because you answer me; so turn to me and listen to my words. 7 Reveal your wonderful love and save me; at your side I am safe from my enemies. 8 Protect me as you would your very eyes; hide me in the shadow of your wings 9 from the attacks of the wicked. Deadly enemies surround me; 10 they have no pity and speak proudly. 11 They are around me now, wherever I turn, watching for a chance to pull me down. 12 They are like lions, waiting for me, wanting to tear me to pieces. 13 Come, LORD! Oppose my enemies and defeat them! Save me from the wicked by your sword; 14 save me from those who in this life have all they want. Punish them with the sufferings you have stored up for them; may there be enough for their children and some left over for their children's children! 15 But I will see you, because I have done no wrong; and when I awake, your presence will fill me with joy.

KJV <Strong's #> - 2 And the whole <03605> congregation <05712> of the children <01121> of Israel <03478> murmured <03885> against <05921> Moses <04872> and Aaron <0175> in the wilderness <04057>:

11 And the LORD <03068> spake <01696> unto Moses <04872>, saying <0559>, 12 I have heard <08085> the murmurings <08519> of the children <01121> of Israel <03478>: speak <01696> unto them, saying <0559>, At <0996> even <06153> ye shall eat <0398> flesh <01320>, and in the morning <01242> ye shall be filled <07646> with bread <03899>; and ye shall know <03045> that I [am] the LORD <03068> your God <0430>.

KJV - 2 And the whole congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:

11 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, 12 I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with bread; and ye shall know that I am the Lord your God.

NRSV - 2 The whole congregation of the Israelites complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.

11 The LORD spoke to Moses and said, 12 "I have heard the complaining of the Israelites; say to them, "At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread; then you shall know that I am the LORD your God."'

TEV - "The Manna and the Quails" - 1 The whole Israelite community set out from Elim, and on the fifteenth day of the second month after they had left Egypt, they came to the desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai. 2 There in the desert they all complained to Moses and Aaron 3 and said to them, "We wish that the LORD had killed us in Egypt. There we could at least sit down and eat meat and as much other food as we wanted. But you have brought us out into this desert to starve us all to death." 4 The LORD said to Moses, "Now I am going to cause food to rain down from the sky for all of you. The people must go out every day and gather enough for that day. In this way I can test them to find out if they will follow my instructions. 5 On the sixth day they are to bring in twice as much as usual and prepare it."

9 Moses said to Aaron, "Tell the whole community to come and stand before the LORD, because he has heard their complaints." 10 As Aaron spoke to the whole community, they turned toward the desert, and suddenly the dazzling light of the LORD appeared in a cloud. 11 The LORD said to Moses, 12 "I have heard the complaints of the Israelites. Tell them that at twilight they will have meat to eat, and in the morning they will have all the bread they want. Then they will know that I, the LORD, am their God."

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 O give thanks <03034> unto the LORD <03050>; call <07121> upon his name <08034>: make known <03045> his deeds <05949> among the people <05971>.

40 [The people] asked <07592>, and he brought <0935> quails <07958>, and satisfied <07649> them with the bread <03899> of heaven <08064>. 41 He opened <06605> the rock <06697>, and the waters <04325> gushed <02100> out; they ran <01980> in the dry <06723> places [like] a river <05104>.

43 And he brought <03318> forth <03318> his people <05971> with joy <08342>, [and] his chosen <0972> with gladness <07440>:

KJV - 1 O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.

40 The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. 41 He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.

43 And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:

NRSV - 1 O give thanks to the LORD, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples.

40 They asked, and he brought quails, and gave them food from heaven in abundance. 41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed through the desert like a river.

43 So he brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with singing.

TEV - "God and His People" - 1 Give thanks to the LORD, proclaim his greatness; tell the nations what he has done. 2 Sing praise to the LORD; tell the wonderful things he has done. 3 Be glad that we belong to him; let all who worship him rejoice. 4 Go to the LORD for help; and worship him continually. 5...6 You descendants of Abraham, his servant; you descendants of Jacob, the man he chose: remember the miracles that God performed and the judgments that he gave.

37 Then he led the Israelites out; they carried silver and gold, and all of them were healthy and strong. 38 The Egyptians were afraid of them and were glad when they left. 39 God put a cloud over his people and a fire at night to give them light. 40 They asked, and he sent quails; he gave them food from heaven to satisfy them. 41 He opened a rock, and water gushed out, flowing through the desert like a river. 42 He remembered his sacred promise to Abraham his servant. 43 So he led his chosen people out, and they sang and shouted for joy. 44 He gave them the lands of other peoples and let them take over their fields, 45 so that his people would obey his laws and keep all his commands. Praise the LORD!

KJV - 21 And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

NRSV - 21 The LORD went in front of them in a pillar of cloud by day, to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light, so that they might travel by day and by night.

TEV - "The Pillar of Cloud and the Pillar of Fire" - 19 Moses took the body of Joseph with him, as Joseph had made the Israelites solemnly promise to do. Joseph had said, "When God rescues you, you must carry my body with you from this place." 20 The Israelites left Sukkoth and camped at Etham on the edge of the desert. 21 During the day the LORD went in front of them in a pillar of cloud to show them the way, and during the night he went in front of them in a pillar of fire to give them light, so that they could travel night and day. 22 The pillar of cloud was always in front of the people during the day, and the pillar of fire at night.

KJV - 3 And Moses went up unto God, and the Lord called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; 4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

NRSV - 3 Then Moses went up to God; the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, "Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the Israelites: 4 You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself.

TEV - "The Israelites at Mount Sinai" - 1...2 The people of Israel left Rephidim, and on the first day of the third month after they had left Egypt they came to the desert of Sinai. There they set up camp at the foot of Mount Sinai, 3 and Moses went up the mountain to meet with God. The LORD called to him from the mountain and told him to say to the Israelites, Jacob's descendants: 4 "You saw what I, the LORD, did to the Egyptians and how I carried you as an eagle carries her young on her wings, and brought you here to me. 5 Now, if you will obey me and keep my covenant, you will be my own people. The whole earth is mine, but you will be my chosen people, 6 a people dedicated to me alone, and you will serve me as priests." 7 So Moses went down and called the leaders of the people together and told them everything that the LORD had commanded him. 8 Then all the people answered together, "We will do everything that the LORD has said," and Moses reported this to the LORD.

And she said <0559> unto her, Go <03212>, my daughter <01323>. 3 And she went <03212>, and came <0935>, and gleaned <03950> in the field <07704> after <0310> the reapers <07114>: and her hap <04745> was to light <07136> on a part <02513> of the field <07704> [belonging] unto Boaz <01162>, who <0834> [was] of the kindred <04940> of Elimelech <0458>. 4 And, behold <02009>, Boaz <01162> came <0935> from Bethlehem <01035>, and said <0559> unto the reapers <07114>, The LORD <03068> [be] with you...

5 Then said <0559> Boaz <01162> unto his servant <05288> that was set <05324> over <05921> the reapers <07114>, Whose <04310> damsel <05291> [is] this <02063>? 6 And the servant <05288> that was set <05324> over <05921> the reapers <07114> answered <06030> and said <0559>, It [is] the Moabitish <04125> damsel <05291> that came <07725> back <07725> with Naomi <05281> out of the country <07704> of Moab <04124>: 7 And she said <0559>, I pray <04994> you, let me glean <03950> and gather <0622> after <0310> the reapers <07114> among <0996> the sheaves <06016>:...

8 Then said <0559> Boaz <01162> unto Ruth <07327>, Hearest <08085> thou not, my daughter <01323>? Go <03212> not to glean <03950> in another <0312> field <07704>, neither go <05674> from hence <02088>, but abide <01692> here <03541> fast by my maidens <05291>:

10 Then she fell <05307> on <05921> her face <06440>, and bowed <07812> herself to the ground <0776>, and said <0559> unto him, Why <04069> have I found <04672> grace <02580> in thine eyes <05869>, that thou shouldest take knowledge <05234> of me, seeing I [am] a stranger <05237>? 11 And Boaz <01162> answered <06030> and said <0559> unto her, It hath fully <05046> been shewed <05046> me, all <03605> that thou hast done <06213> unto thy mother <02545> in law <02545> since <0310> the death <04194> of thine husband <0376>: and [how] thou hast left <05800> thy father <01> and thy mother <0517>, and the land <0776> of thy nativity <04138>, and art come <01980> unto a people <05971> which <0834> thou knewest <03045> not heretofore <08543>. 12 The LORD <03068> recompense <07999> thy work <06467>, and a full <08003> reward <04909> be given thee of the LORD <03068> God <0430> of Israel <03478>, under <08478> whose <0834> wings <03671> thou art come <0935> to trust <02620>.

KJV - 2 And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter. 3 And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech. 4 And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The Lord be with you...

5 Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this? 6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab: 7 And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves:...

8 Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:

10 Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger? 11 And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. 12 The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.

NRSV - 2 And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, "Let me go to the field and glean among the ears of grain, behind someone in whose sight I may find favor." She said to her, "Go, my daughter." 3 So she went. She came and gleaned in the field behind the reapers. As it happened, she came to the part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech. 4 Just then Boaz came from Bethlehem. He said to the reapers, "The LORD be with you."...

5 Then Boaz said to his servant who was in charge of the reapers, "To whom does this young woman belong?" 6 The servant who was in charge of the reapers answered, "She is the Moabite who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab. 7 She said, "Please, let me glean and gather among the sheaves behind the reapers.'...

8 Then Boaz said to Ruth, "Now listen, my daughter, do not go to glean in another field or leave this one, but keep close to my young women.

10 Then she fell prostrate, with her face to the ground, and said to him, "Why have I found favor in your sight, that you should take notice of me, when I am a foreigner?" 11 But Boaz answered her, "All that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband has been fully told me, and how you left your father and mother and your native land and came to a people that you did not know before. 12 May the LORD reward you for your deeds, and may you have a full reward from the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge!"

TEV - "Ruth Works in the Field of Boaz" - 1 Naomi had a relative named Boaz, a rich and influential man who belonged to the family of her husband Elimelech. 2 One day Ruth said to Naomi, "Let me go to the fields to gather the grain that the harvest workers leave. I am sure to find someone who will let me work with him." Naomi answered, "Go ahead, daughter." 3 So Ruth went out to the fields and walked behind the workers, picking up the heads of grain which they left. It so happened that she was in a field that belonged to Boaz. 4 Some time later Boaz himself arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the workers. "The LORD be with you!" he said. "The LORD bless you!" they answered. 5 Boaz asked the man in charge, "Who is that young woman?" 6 The man answered, "She is the foreign girl who came back from Moab with Naomi. 7 She asked me to let her follow the workers and gather grain. She has been working since early morning and has just now stopped to rest for a while under the shelter." 8 Then Boaz said to Ruth, "Let me give you some advice. Don't gather grain anywhere except in this field. Work with the women here; 9 watch them to see where they are reaping and stay with them. I have ordered my men not to molest you. And whenever you are thirsty, go and drink from the water jars that they have filled." 10 Ruth bowed down with her face touching the ground, and said to Boaz, "Why should you be so concerned about me? Why should you be so kind to a foreigner?" 11 Boaz answered, "I have heard about everything that you have done for your mother-in-law since your husband died. I know how you left your father and mother and your own country and how you came to live among a people you had never known before. 12 May the LORD reward you for what you have done. May you have a full reward from the LORD God of Israel, to whom you have come for protection!"

KJV - 30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? 31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. 33 And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

NRSV - 30 He also said, "With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; 32 yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade." 33 With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it;

TEV - "The Parable of the Mustard Seed" - 30 "What shall we say the Kingdom of God is like?" asked Jesus. "What parable shall we use to explain it? 31 It is like this. A man takes a mustard seed, the smallest seed in the world, and plants it in the ground. 32 After a while it grows up and becomes the biggest of all plants. It puts out such large branches that the birds come and make their nests in its shade." 33 Jesus preached his message to the people, using many other parables like these; he told them as much as they could understand. 34 He would not speak to them without using parables, but when he was alone with his disciples, he would explain everything to them.

KJV <Strong's #> - 21 And when Jesus <2424> was passed <1276> over <1276> again <3825> by ship <4143> unto the other <4008> side <4008>, much <4183> people <3793> gathered <4863> unto him:...

25 And a certain <5100> woman <1135>, which had <1510> an issue <4511> of blood <129> twelve <1427> years <2094>, 26 And had suffered <3958> many <4183> things of many <4183> physicians <2395>, and had spent <1159> all <3956> that she had <3844>, and was nothing <3367> bettered <5623>, but rather <3123> grew <2064> worse <5501>, 27 When she had heard <191> of Jesus <2424>, came <2064> in the press <3793> behind <3693>, and touched <680> his garment <2440>. 28 For she said <3004>, If <2579> I may touch <680> but his clothes <2440>, I shall be whole <4982>. 29 And straightway <2112> the fountain <4077> of her blood <129> was dried <3583> up; and she felt <1097> in [her] body <4983> that she was healed <2390> of that plague <3148>.

KJV - 21 And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him:...

25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, 26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. 29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

NRSV - 21 When Jesus had crossed again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd gathered around him;...

25 Now there was a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years. 26 She had endured much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had; and she was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 She had heard about Jesus, and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 for she said, "If I but touch his clothes, I will be made well." 29 Immediately her hemorrhage stopped; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.

TEV - "Jairus' Daughter and the Woman Who Touched Jesus' Cloak" - 21 Jesus went back across to the other side of the lake. There at the lakeside a large crowd gathered around him. 22 Jairus, an official of the local synagogue, arrived, and when he saw Jesus, he threw himself down at his feet 23 and begged him earnestly, "My little daughter is very sick. Please come and place your hands on her, so that she will get well and live!" 24 Then Jesus started off with him. So many people were going along with Jesus that they were crowding him from every side. 25 There was a woman who had suffered terribly from severe bleeding for twelve years, 26 even though she had been treated by many doctors. She had spent all her money, but instead of getting better she got worse all the time. 27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came in the crowd behind him, 28 saying to herself, "If I just touch his clothes, I will get well." 29 She touched his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once; and she had the feeling inside herself that she was healed of her trouble. 30 At once Jesus knew that power had gone out of him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" 31 His disciples answered, "You see how the people are crowding you; why do you ask who touched you?"

KJV <Strong's #> - 10 Rejoice <08055> ye with Jerusalem <03389>, and be glad <01528> with her, all <03605> ye that love <0157> her:..

12 For thus <03541> saith <0559> the LORD <03068>, Behold <02005>, I will extend <05186> peace <07965> to her like a river <05104>, and the glory <03519> of the Gentiles <01471> like a flowing <07857> stream <05158>: then shall ye suck <03243>, ye shall be borne <05375> upon [her] sides <06654>, and be dandled <08173> upon [her] knees <01290>. 13 As one <0376> whom <0834> his mother <0517> comforteth <05162>, so <03651> will I comfort <05162> you; and ye shall be comforted <05162> in Jerusalem <03389>. 14 And when ye see <07200> [this], your heart <03820> shall rejoice <07797>, and your bones <06106> shall flourish <06524> like an herb <01877>:...

KJV - 10 Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her:...

12 For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. 13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 14 And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb:...

NRSV - 10 Rejoice with Jerusalem, and be glad for her, all you who love her;...

12 For thus says the LORD: I will extend prosperity to her like a river, and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing stream; and you shall nurse and be carried on her arm, and dandled on her knees. 13 As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 14 You shall see, and your heart shall rejoice; your bodies shall flourish like the grass;...

TEV - "The LORD Judges the Nations" - 7 "My holy city is like a woman who suddenly gives birth to a child without ever going into labor. 8 Has anyone ever seen or heard of such a thing? Has a nation ever been born in a day? Zion will not have to suffer long, before the nation is born. 9 Do not think that I will bring my people to the point of birth and not let them be born." The LORD has spoken. 10 Rejoice with Jerusalem; be glad for her, all you that love this city! Rejoice with her now, all you that have mourned for her! 11 You will enjoy her prosperity, like a child at its mother's breast. 12 The LORD says, "I will bring you lasting prosperity; the wealth of the nations will flow to you like a river that never goes dry. You will be like a child that is nursed by its mother, carried in her arms, and treated with love. 13 I will comfort you in Jerusalem, as a mother comforts her child. 14 When you see this happen, you will be glad; it will make you strong and healthy. Then you will know that I, the LORD, help those who obey me, and I show my anger against my enemies." 15 The LORD will come with fire. He will ride on the wings of a storm to punish those he is angry with. 16 By fire and sword he will punish all the people of the world whom he finds guilty -- and many will be put to death.

KJV <Strong's #> - 9 For the LORD'S <03068> portion <02506> [is] his people <05971>; Jacob <03290> [is] the lot <02256> of his inheritance <05159>.

11 As an eagle <05404> stirreth <05782> up her nest <07064>, fluttereth <07363> over <05921> her young <01469>, spreadeth <06566> abroad <06566> her wings <03671>, taketh <03947> them, beareth <05375> them on <05921> her wings <084>: 12 [So] the LORD <03068> alone <0909> did lead <05148> him, and [there was] no <0369> strange <05236> god <0410> with him. 13 He made him ride <07392> on <05921> the high <01116> places of the earth <0776>, that he might eat <0398> the increase <08570> of the fields <07704>;...

KJV - 9 For the Lord's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings: 12 So the Lord alone did lead him, and there was no strange god with him. 13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields;...

NRSV - 9 the LORD's own portion was his people, Jacob his allotted share.

11 As an eagle stirs up its nest, and hovers over its young; as it spreads its wings, takes them up, and bears them aloft on its pinions, 12 the LORD alone guided him; no foreign god was with him. 13 He set him atop the heights of the land, and fed him with produce of the field;...

TEV - "The Song of Moses" - 7 "Think of the past, of the time long ago; ask your fathers to tell you what happened, ask the old men to tell of the past. 8 The Most High assigned nations their lands; he determined where peoples should live. He assigned to each nation a heavenly being, 9 but Jacob's descendants he chose for himself. 10 "He found them wandering through the desert, a desolate, wind-swept wilderness. He protected them and cared for them, as he would protect himself. 11 Like an eagle teaching its young to fly, catching them safely on its spreading wings, the LORD kept Israel from falling. 12 The LORD alone led his people without the help of a foreign god. 13 "He let them rule the highlands, and they ate what grew in the fields. They found wild honey among the rocks; their olive trees flourished in stony ground. 14 Their cows and goats gave plenty of milk; they had the best sheep, goats, and cattle, the finest wheat, and the choicest wine.

KJV

King James Version (KJV) -- Dr. Benjamin Blayney's 1769 revision of the KJV. Almost all of today's printed and electronic editions of the KJV are based upon Dr. Blayney's 1769 revision, which like many of its KJV-revision predecessors, does not include the Apocrypha and the marginal notes that were in the original 1611 edition of the KJV. Spelling and punctuation also are quite different from the 1611 edition. Even in today's editions of the KJV, there remain some punctuation and spelling differences among major publishers.

In the KJV texts above, the strike-through words are those that were not in the original Hebrew (OT), Aramaic (Daniel only), or Greek (NT) texts of the Bible. [Bold-type bracketed words] are additions or corrections to enable the KJV text to better conform to what today's scholars believe to have been the original text, as published in the United Bible Society's definitive Hebrew Old Testament (Biblica Hebraica Stuttsgartensia) and Greek New Testament, 4th Revised Edition). [Regular-type bracketed words] are those words that are italized in the printed edition of the KJV. They are words that were added by the KJV translators without any corresponding Hebrew or Greek words.

Strong's numbers

Strong's numbers identify the Hebrew (OT) or Greek words (NT) from which the KJV words were translated, and they are enclosed in less-than and greater-than signs < >. Keep in mind that the Strong's numbers do not necessarily represent the Hebrew and Greek words in the original texts. They represent the Hebrew and Greek texts from which the KJV was translated. The following two resources are available to use the Strong's numbers:

On each Bible citation toolbar -- You will find links to Strong's Heb and Strong's Gr lexicons, which will enable you to use the Strong's numbers to explore the Hebrew and Greek words in the texts from which the KJV was translated. When inputting Strong's number into one of those online lexicons, delete any preceding zeros (0's). The easiest way to do this is to copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the number (1 to 4 digits) from the KJV text to the online lexicon's input field, then click on the lexicon's "Find" button.

On each Bible citation toolbar and S&H toolbar -- You will find a Strong's S&H link. This provides links to descriptions of those Hebrew and Greek words that are used in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Each word is identified by its respective Strong's numbers.
