KJV <Strong's #> - 3 If <0518> thou, LORD <03050>, shouldest mark <08104> iniquities <05771>, O Lord <0136>, who <04310> shall stand <05975>? 4 But [there is] forgiveness <05547> with thee, that thou mayest be feared <03372>. 5 I wait <06960> for the LORD <03068>, my soul <05315> doth wait <06960>, and in his word <01697> do I hope <03176>. 6 My soul <05315> [waiteth] for the Lord <0136> more than they that watch <08104> for the morning <01242>: [I say, more than] they that watch <08104> for the morning <01242>. 7 Let Israel <03478> hope <03176> in the LORD <03068>: for with the LORD <03068> [there is] mercy <02617>, and with him [is] plenteous <07235> redemption <06304>. 8 And he shall redeem <06299> Israel <03478> from all <03605> his iniquities <05771>.

KJV - 3 If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? 4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. 5 I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope. 6 My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning. 7 Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. 8 And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

NRSV - 3 If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? 4 But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered. 5 I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; 6 my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning. 7 O Israel, hope in the LORD! For with the LORD there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem. 8 It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

TEV - "A Prayer for Help" - 1 From the depths of my despair I call to you, LORD. 2 Hear my cry, O Lord; listen to my call for help! 3 If you kept a record of our sins, who could escape being condemned? 4 But you forgive us, so that we should stand in awe of you. 5 I wait eagerly for the LORD's help, and in his word I trust. 6 I wait for the Lord more eagerly than watchmen wait for the dawn -- than watchmen wait for the dawn. 7 Israel, trust in the LORD, because his love is constant and he is always willing to save. 8 He will save his people Israel from all their sins.

KJV - 5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:

12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it:...

13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will direct all his ways:...

NRSV - 5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; besides me there is no god. I arm you, though you do not know me,

12 I made the earth, and created humankind upon it;...

13 I have aroused Cyrus in righteousness, and I will make all his paths straight;...

TEV - "The LORD Appoints Cyrus" - 5 "I am the LORD; there is no other god. I will give you the strength you need, although you do not know me. 6 I do this so that everyone from one end of the world to the other may know that I am the LORD and that there is no other god. 7 I create both light and darkness; I bring both blessing and disaster. I, the LORD, do all these things. 8 I will send victory from the sky like rain; the earth will open to receive it and will blossom with freedom and justice. I, the LORD, will make this happen."

"The LORD of Creation and History" - 9 Does a clay pot dare argue with its maker, a pot that is like all the others? Does the clay ask the potter what he is doing? Does the pot complain that its maker has no skill? 10 Does anyone dare say to his parents, "Why did you make me like this?" 11 The LORD, the holy God of Israel, the one who shapes the future, says: "You have no right to question me about my children or to tell me what I ought to do! 12 I am the one who made the earth and created mankind to live there. By my power I stretched out the heavens; I control the sun, the moon, and the stars. 13 I myself have stirred Cyrus to action to fulfill my purpose and put things right. I will straighten out every road that he travels. He will rebuild my city, Jerusalem, and set my captive people free. No one has hired him or bribed him to do this." The LORD Almighty has spoken.

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 ...Absalom <053> the son <01121> of David <01732> had a fair <03303> sister <0269>, whose name <08034> [was] Tamar <08559>; and Amnon <0550> the son <01121> of David <01732> loved <0157> her.

6 So Amnon <0550> lay <07901> down <07901>, and made himself sick <02470>: and when the king <04428> was come <0935> to see <07200> him, Amnon <0550> said <0559> unto the king <04428>, I pray <04994> thee, let Tamar <08559> my sister <0269> come <0935>, and make <03823> me a couple <08147> of cakes <03834> in my sight <05869>, that I may eat <01262> at her hand <03027>.

11 And when she had brought <05066> [them] unto him to eat <0398>, he took hold <02388> of her, and said <0559> unto her, Come <0935> lie <07901> with me, my sister <0269>. 12 And she answered <0559> him, Nay <0408>, my brother <0251>, do <06213> not force <06031> me; for no <03808> such <03651> thing <03651> ought to be done <06213> in Israel <03478>: do <06213> not thou this <02063> folly <05039>.

14 Howbeit he would <014> not hearken <08085> unto her voice <06963>: but, being stronger <02388> than she, forced <06031> her, and lay <07901> with her. 15 Then Amnon <0550> hated <08130> her exceedingly;...

17 Then he called <07121> his servant <05288> that ministered <08334> unto him, and said <0559>, Put <07971> now <04994> this <02063> [woman] out from me, and bolt <05274> the door <01817> after <0310> her.

19 And Tamar <08559> put <03947> ashes <0665> on <05921> her head <07218>, and rent <07167> her garment <03801> of divers <06446> colours <06446> that [was] on <05921> her, and laid <07760> her hand <03027> on <05921> her head <07218>, and went <03212> on crying <02201>.

KJV - 1 ...Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

6 So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.

11 And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister. 12 And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.

14 Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her. 15 Then Amnon hated her exceedingly;...

17 Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.

19 And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colours that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying.

NRSV - 1 ...David's son Absalom had a beautiful sister whose name was Tamar; and David's son Amnon fell in love with her.

6 So Amnon lay down, and pretended to be ill; and when the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, "Please let my sister Tamar come and make a couple of cakes in my sight, so that I may eat from her hand."

11 But when she brought them near him to eat, he took hold of her, and said to her, "Come, lie with me, my sister." 12 She answered him, "No, my brother, do not force me; for such a thing is not done in Israel; do not do anything so vile!

14 But he would not listen to her; and being stronger than she, he forced her and lay with her. 15 Then Amnon was seized with a very great loathing for her;...

17 He called the young man who served him and said, "Put this woman out of my presence, and bolt the door after her."

19 But Tamar put ashes on her head, and tore the long robe that she was wearing; she put her hand on her head, and went away, crying aloud as she went.

TEV - "Amnon and Tamar" - 1 David's son Absalom had a beautiful unmarried sister named Tamar. Amnon, another of David's sons, fell in love with her. 2 He was so much in love with her that he became sick, because it seemed impossible for him to have her; as a virgin, she was kept from meeting men. 3 But he had a friend, a very shrewd man named Jonadab, the son of David's brother Shammah. 4 Jonadab said to Amnon, "You are the king's son, yet day after day I see you looking sad. What's the matter?" "I'm in love with Tamar, the sister of my half brother Absalom," he answered. 5 Jonadab said to him, "Pretend that you are sick and go to bed. When your father comes to see you, say to him, "Please ask my sister Tamar to come and feed me. I want her to fix the food here where I can see her, and then serve it to me herself." 6 So Amnon pretended that he was sick and went to bed. King David went to see him, and Amnon said to him, "Please let Tamar come and make a few cakes here where I can see her, and then serve them to me herself." 7 So David sent word to Tamar in the palace: "Go to Amnon's house and fix him some food." 8 She went there and found him in bed. She took some dough, prepared it, and made some cakes there where he could see her. Then she baked the cakes 9 and emptied them out of the pan for him to eat, but he wouldn't. He said, "Send everyone away" -- and they all left. 10 Then he said to her, "Bring the cakes here to my bed and serve them to me yourself." She took the cakes and went over to him. 11 As she offered them to him, he grabbed her and said, "Come to bed with me!" 12 "No," she said. "Don't force me to do such a degrading thing! That's awful! 13 How could I ever hold up my head in public again? And you -- you would be completely disgraced in Israel. Please, speak to the king, and I'm sure that he will give me to you." 14 But he would not listen to her; and since he was stronger than she was, he overpowered her and raped her. 15 Then Amnon was filled with a deep hatred for her; he hated her now even more than he had loved her before. He said to her, "Get out!" 16 "No," she answered. "To send me away like this is a greater crime than what you just did!" But Amnon would not listen to her; 17 he called in his personal servant and said, "Get this woman out of my sight! Throw her out and lock the door!" 18 The servant put her out and locked the door. Tamar was wearing a long robe with full sleeves, the usual clothing for an unmarried princess in those days. 19 She sprinkled ashes on her head, tore her robe, and with her face buried in her hands went away crying. 20 When her brother Absalom saw her, he asked, "Has Amnon molested you? Please, sister, don't let it upset you so much. He is your half brother, so don't tell anyone about it." So Tamar lived in Absalom's house, sad and lonely.

KJV - 17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.

NRSV - 17 No weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, says the LORD.

TEV - "The Future Jerusalem" - 16 "I create the blacksmith, who builds a fire and forges weapons. I also create the soldier, who uses the weapons to kill. 17 But no weapon will be able to hurt you; you will have an answer for all who accuse you. I will defend my servants and give them victory." KJV - 4 Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth, 5 That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

27 The heaven shall reveal his iniquity;...

NRSV - 4 Do you not know this from of old, ever since mortals were placed on earth, 5 that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy of the godless is but for a moment?

27 The heavens will reveal their iniquity,...

TEV - "The Second Dialogue" - 4 Surely you know that from ancient times, when man was first placed on earth, 5 no wicked man has been happy for long. 6 He may grow great, towering to the sky, so great that his head reaches the clouds, 7 but he will be blown away like dust. Those who used to know him will wonder where he has gone. 8 He will vanish like a dream, like a vision at night, and never be seen again. 9 He will disappear from the place where he used to live; 10 and his sons will make good what he stole from the poor.

24 When he tries to escape from an iron sword, a bronze bow will shoot him down. 25 An arrow sticks through his body; its shiny point drips with his blood, and terror grips his heart. 26 Everything he has saved is destroyed; a fire not lit by human hands burns him and all his family. 27 Heaven reveals this man's sin, and the earth gives testimony against him. 28 All his wealth will be destroyed in the flood of God's anger. 29 This is the fate of wicked men, the fate that God assigns to them.

KJV <Strong's #> - 3 For I was envious <07065> at the foolish <01984>, [when] I saw <07200> the prosperity <07965> of the wicked <07563>.

8 They are corrupt <04167>, and speak <01696> wickedly <07451> [concerning] oppression <06233>: they speak <01696> loftily <04791>.

11 And they say <0559>, How <0349> doth God <04010> know <03045>? and is there knowledge <01844> in the most <05945> High <05945>?

16 When I thought <02803> to know <03045> this <02063>, it [was] too painful <05999> for me; 17 Until <05704> I went <0935> into <0413> the sanctuary <04720> of God <0410>; [then] understood <0995> I their end <0319>.

KJV - 3 ...I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

8 They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.

11 And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?

16 When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

NRSV - 3 For I was envious of the arrogant; I saw the prosperity of the wicked.

8 They scoff and speak with malice; loftily they threaten oppression.

11 And they say, "How can God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?"

16 But when I thought how to understand this, it seemed to me a wearisome task, 17 until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I perceived their end.

TEV - "The Justice of God" - 1 God is indeed good to Israel, to those who have pure hearts. 2 But I had nearly lost confidence; my faith was almost gone 3 because I was jealous of the proud when I saw that things go well for the wicked. 4 They do not suffer pain; they are strong and healthy. 5 They do not suffer as other people do; they do not have the troubles that others have. 6 And so they wear pride like a necklace and violence like a robe; 7 their hearts pour out evil, and their minds are busy with wicked schemes. 8 They laugh at other people and speak of evil things; they are proud and make plans to oppress others. 9 They speak evil of God in heaven and give arrogant orders to men on earth, 10 so that even God's people turn to them and eagerly believe whatever they say. 11 They say, "God will not know; the Most High will not find out." 12 That is what the wicked are like. They have plenty and are always getting more. 13 Is it for nothing, then, that I have kept myself pure and have not committed sin? 14 O God, you have made me suffer all day long; every morning you have punished me. 15 If I had said such things, I would not be acting as one of your people. 16 I tried to think this problem through, but it was too difficult for me 17 until I went into your Temple. Then I understood what will happen to the wicked.

NRSV - 35 I have seen the wicked oppressing, and towering like a cedar of Lebanon. 36 Again I passed by, and they were no more; though I sought them, they could not be found. 37 Mark the blameless, and behold the upright, for there is posterity for the peaceable. 38 But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; the posterity of the wicked shall be cut off.

TEV - "The Destiny of the Wicked and of the Good" - 35 I once knew a wicked man who was a tyrant; he towered over everyone like a cedar of Lebanon; 36 but later I passed by, and he wasn't there; I looked for him, but couldn't find him. 37 Notice the good man, observe the righteous man; a peaceful man has descendants, 38 but sinners are completely destroyed, and their descendants are wiped out.

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 And when he had called <4341> unto [him] his twelve <1427> disciples <3101>, he gave <1325> them power <1849> [against] unclean <169> spirits <4151>, to cast <1544> them out, and to heal <2323> all <3956> manner of sickness <3554> and all <3956> manner of disease <3119>.

28 And fear <5399> not them which <3588> kill <615> the body <4983>, but are not able <1410> to kill <615> the soul <5590>: but rather <3123> fear <5399> him which <3588> is able <1410> to destroy <622> both <2532> soul <5590> and body <4983> in hell <1067>.

KJV - 1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. 8 Heal the sick, [raise the dead,] cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils [demons]: freely ye have received, freely give.

28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

NRSV - 1 Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness.

5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, 6 but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 As you go, proclaim the good news, "The kingdom of heaven has come near.' 8 Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment.

28 Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

TEV - "The Twelve Apostles" - 1 Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and every sickness. 2 These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (called Peter) and his brother Andrew; James and his brother John, the sons of Zebedee; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew, the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Patriot, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus.

"The Mission of the Twelve" - 5 These twelve men were sent out by Jesus with the following instructions: "Do not go to any Gentile territory or any Samaritan towns. 6 Instead, you are to go to the lost sheep of the people of Israel. 7 Go and preach, "The Kingdom of heaven is near!' 8 Heal the sick, bring the dead back to life, heal those who suffer from dreaded skin diseases, and drive out demons. You have received without paying, so give without being paid. 9 Do not carry any gold, silver, or copper money in your pockets; 10 do not carry a beggar's bag for the trip or an extra shirt or shoes or a walking stick. A worker should be given what he needs.

"Whom to Fear" - 26 "So do not be afraid of people. Whatever is now covered up will be uncovered, and every secret will be made known. 27 What I am telling you in the dark you must repeat in broad daylight, and what you have heard in private you must announce from the housetops. 28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather be afraid of God, who can destroy both body and soul in hell. 29 For only a penny you can buy two sparrows, yet not one sparrow falls to the ground without your Father's consent. 30 As for you, even the hairs of your head have all been counted. 31 So do not be afraid; you are worth much more than many sparrows!

NRSV - 1 But a man named Ananias, with the consent of his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property; 2 with his wife's knowledge, he kept back some of the proceeds, and brought only a part and laid it at the apostles' feet. 3 "Ananias," Peter asked, "why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? 4 While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!" 5 Now when Ananias heard these words, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard of it.

TEV - "Ananias and Sapphira" - 1 But there was a man named Ananias, who with his wife Sapphira sold some property that belonged to them. 2 But with his wife's agreement he kept part of the money for himself and turned the rest over to the apostles. 3 Peter said to him, "Ananias, why did you let Satan take control of you and make you lie to the Holy Spirit by keeping part of the money you received for the property? 4 Before you sold the property, it belonged to you; and after you sold it, the money was yours. Why, then, did you decide to do such a thing? You have not lied to men -- you have lied to God!" 5 As soon as Ananias heard this, he fell down dead; and all who heard about it were terrified. 6 The young men came in, wrapped up his body, carried him out, and buried him.

KJV <Strong's #> - 36 Now <1161> there was at <1722> Joppa <2445> a certain <5100> disciple <3102> named <3686> Tabitha <5000>, which <3739> by interpretation <1329> is called <3004> Dorcas <1393>: this <3778> woman was full <4134> of good <18> works <2041> and almsdeeds <1654> which <3739> she did <4160>. 37 And it came <1096> to pass in those <1565> days <2250>, that she was sick <770>, and died <599>: whom when they had washed <3068>, they laid <5087> [her] in an upper <5253> chamber <5253>. 38 And forasmuch <5607> as Lydda <3069> was nigh <1451> to Joppa <2445>, and the disciples <3101> had heard <191> that Peter <4074> was there <846>, they sent <649> unto him two <1417> men <435>, desiring <3870> [him] that he would not delay <3635> to come <1330> to them. 39 Then <1161> Peter <4074> arose <450> and went <4905> with them. When he was come <3854>, they brought <321> him into <1519> the upper <5253> chamber <5253>: and all <3956> the widows <5503> stood <3936> by him weeping <2799>, and shewing <1925> the coats <5509> and garments <2440> which <3745> Dorcas <1393> made <4160>, while she was with them. 40 But Peter <4074> put <1544> them all <3956> forth <1854>, and kneeled <5087> <1119> down, and prayed <4336>; and turning <1994> [him] to the body <4983> said <2036>, Tabitha <5000>, arise <450>. And she opened <455> her eyes <3788>: and when she saw <1492> Peter <4074>, she sat <339> up. 41 And he gave <1325> her [his] hand <5495>, and lifted <450> her up, and when he had called <5455> the saints <40> and widows <5503>, presented <3936> her alive <2198>.

KJV - 36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did. 37 And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber. 38 And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. 39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.

NRSV - 36 Now in Joppa there was a disciple whose name was Tabitha, which in Greek is Dorcas. She was devoted to good works and acts of charity. 37 At that time she became ill and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in a room upstairs. 38 Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, who heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him with the request, "Please come to us without delay." 39 So Peter got up and went with them; and when he arrived, they took him to the room upstairs. All the widows stood beside him, weeping and showing tunics and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was with them. 40 Peter put all of them outside, and then he knelt down and prayed. He turned to the body and said, "Tabitha, get up." Then she opened her eyes, and seeing Peter, she sat up. 41 He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then calling the saints and widows, he showed her to be alive.

TEV - "Peter in Lydda and Joppa" - 36 In Joppa there was a woman named Tabitha, who was a believer. (Her name in Greek is Dorcas, meaning "a deer.") She spent all her time doing good and helping the poor. 37 At that time she got sick and died. Her body was washed and laid in a room upstairs. 38 Joppa was not very far from Lydda, and when the believers in Joppa heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him with the message, "Please hurry and come to us." 39 So Peter got ready and went with them. When he arrived, he was taken to the room upstairs, where all the widows crowded around him, crying and showing him all the shirts and coats that Dorcas had made while she was alive. 40 Peter put them all out of the room, and knelt down and prayed; then he turned to the body and said, "Tabitha, get up!" She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up. 41 Peter reached over and helped her get up. Then he called all the believers, including the widows, and presented her alive to them. 42 The news about this spread all over Joppa, and many people believed in the Lord. 43 Peter stayed on in Joppa for many days with a tanner of leather named Smon.

Save me, my God! You punish all my enemies and leave them powerless to harm me. 8 Victory comes from the LORD -- may he bless his people.

KJV

King James Version (KJV) -- Dr. Benjamin Blayney's 1769 revision of the KJV. Almost all of today's printed and electronic editions of the KJV are based upon Dr. Blayney's 1769 revision, which like many of its KJV-revision predecessors, does not include the Apocrypha and the marginal notes that were in the original 1611 edition of the KJV. Spelling and punctuation also are quite different from the 1611 edition. Even in today's editions of the KJV, there remain some punctuation and spelling differences among major publishers.

In the KJV texts above, the strike-through words are those that were not in the original Hebrew (OT), Aramaic (Daniel only), or Greek (NT) texts of the Bible. [Bold-type bracketed words] are additions or corrections to enable the KJV text to better conform to what today's scholars believe to have been the original text, as published in the United Bible Society's definitive Hebrew Old Testament (Biblica Hebraica Stuttsgartensia) and Greek New Testament, 4th Revised Edition). [Regular-type bracketed words] are those words that are italized in the printed edition of the KJV. They are words that were added by the KJV translators without any corresponding Hebrew or Greek words.

Strong's numbers

Strong's numbers identify the Hebrew (OT) or Greek words (NT) from which the KJV words were translated, and they are enclosed in less-than and greater-than signs < >. Keep in mind that the Strong's numbers do not necessarily represent the Hebrew and Greek words in the original texts. They represent the Hebrew and Greek texts from which the KJV was translated. The following two resources are available to use the Strong's numbers:

On each Bible citation toolbar -- You will find links to Strong's Heb and Strong's Gr lexicons, which will enable you to use the Strong's numbers to explore the Hebrew and Greek words in the texts from which the KJV was translated. When inputting Strong's number into one of those online lexicons, delete any preceding zeros (0's). The easiest way to do this is to copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the number (1 to 4 digits) from the KJV text to the online lexicon's input field, then click on the lexicon's "Find" button.

On each Bible citation toolbar and S&H toolbar -- You will find a Strong's S&H link. This provides links to descriptions of those Hebrew and Greek words that are used in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Each word is identified by its respective Strong's numbers.
