RR - Eph 2

KJV <Strong's #> - 4 ...God <2316>, who is rich <4145> in mercy <1656>, for his great <4183> love <26> wherewith <3739> he loved <25> us, 5 Even <2532> when we were dead <3498> in sins <3900>, hath quickened <4806> us together <4806> with Christ <5547>, (by grace <5485> ye are saved <4982>;)

13 But now <3570> in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424> ye who <3739> sometimes <4218> were far <3112> off <3112> are made <1096> nigh <1451> by the blood <129> of Christ <5547>. 14 For he is our peace <1515>, who <3739> hath made <4160> both <297> one <1520>, and hath broken <3089> down the middle <3320> wall of partition <5418> [between us]; 15 Having abolished <2673> in his flesh <4561> the enmity <2189>, [even] the law <3551> of commandments <1785> [contained] in ordinances <1378>; for to make <2936> in himself <1438> of twain <1417> one <1520> new <2537> man <444>, [so] making <4160> peace <1515>; 16 And that he might reconcile <604> both <297> unto God <2316> in one <1520> body <4983> by the cross <4716>, having slain <615> the enmity <2189> thereby <846>: 17 And came <2064> and preached <2097> peace <1515> to you which <3588> were afar <3112> off, and to them that were nigh <1451>. 18 For through <1223> him we both <297> have <2192> access <4318> by one <1520> Spirit <4151> unto the Father <3962>. 19 Now <3767> therefore <686> ye are no <3765> more <3765> strangers <3581> and foreigners <3941>, but fellowcitizens <4847> with the saints <40>, and of the household <3609> of God <2316>;

KJV - 4 ...God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. 18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

NRSV - 4 ...God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ -- by grace you have been saved --

13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.14 For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us.15 He has abolished the law with its commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new humanity in place of the two, thus making peace,16 and might reconcile both groups to God in one body through the cross, thus putting to death that hostility through it.17 So he came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near;18 for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father.19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God,

TEV - "From Death to Life" - 4 But God's mercy is so abundant, and his love for us is so great, 5 that while we were spiritually dead in our disobedience he brought us to life with Christ. It is by God's grace that you have been saved. 6 In our union with Christ Jesus he raised us up with him to rule with him in the heavenly world. 7 He did this to demonstrate for all time to come the extraordinary greatness of his grace in the love he showed us in Christ Jesus. 8...9 For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it.10 God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do.

"One in Christ" - 11 You Gentiles by birth -- called "the uncircumcised" by the Jews, who call themselves the circumcised (which refers to what men do to their bodies) -- remember what you were in the past. 12 At that time you were apart from Christ. You were foreigners and did not belong to God's chosen people. You had no part in the covenants, which were based on God's promises to his people, and you lived in this world without hope and without God. 13 But now, in union with Christ Jesus you, who used to be far away, have been brought near by the sacrificial death of Christ. 14 For Christ himself has brought us peace by making Jews and Gentiles one people. With his own body he broke down the wall that separated them and kept them enemies. 15 He abolished the Jewish Law with its commandments and rules, in order to create out of the two races one new people in union with himself, in this way making peace. 16 By his death on the cross Christ destroyed their enmity; by means of the cross he united both races into one body and brought them back to God. 17 So Christ came and preached the Good News of peace to all -- to you Gentiles, who were far away from God, and to the Jews, who were near to him. 18 It is through Christ that all of us, Jews and Gentiles, are able to come in the one Spirit into the presence of the Father. 19 So then, you Gentiles are not foreigners or strangers any longer; you are now fellow citizens with God's people and members of the family of God. 20 You, too, are built upon the foundation laid by the apostles and prophets, the cornerstone being Christ Jesus himself. 21 He is the one who holds the whole building together and makes it grow into a sacred temple dedicated to the Lord. 22 In union with him you too are being built together with all the others into a place where God lives through his Spirit.

B1 - Psa 51

KJV <Strong's #> - 15 O Lord <0136>, open <06605> thou my lips <08193>; and my mouth <06310> shall shew <05046> forth thy praise <08416>. 16 For thou desirest <02654> not sacrifice <02077>; else would I give <05414> [it]: thou delightest <07521> not in burnt <05930> offering. 17 The sacrifices <02077> of God <0430> [are] a broken <07665> spirit <07307>: a broken <07665> and a contrite <01794> heart <03820>, O God <0430>, thou wilt not despise <0959>.

KJV - 15 O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. 16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

NRSV - 15 O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.16 For you have no delight in sacrifice; if I were to give a burnt offering, you would not be pleased.17 The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

TEV - "A Prayer for Forgiveness" - 14 Spare my life, O God, and save me, and I will gladly proclaim your righteousness. 15 Help me to speak, Lord, and I will praise you. 16 You do not want sacrifices, or I would offer them; you are not pleased with burnt offerings. 17 My sacrifice is a humble spirit, O God; you will not reject a humble and repentant heart.

B2 - Psa 4

KJV <Strong's #> - 5 Offer <02076> the sacrifices <02077> of righteousness <06664>, and put your trust <0982> in the LORD <03068>.

KJV - 5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.

NRSV - 5 Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.

TEV - "Evening Prayer for Help" - 4 Tremble with fear and stop sinning; think deeply about this, when you lie in silence on your beds. 5 Offer the right sacrifices to the LORD, and put your trust in him. 6 There are many who pray: "Give us more blessings, O LORD. Look on us with kindness!" 7 But the joy that you have given me is more than they will ever have with all their grain and wine. 8 When I lie down, I go to sleep in peace; you alone, O LORD, keep me perfectly safe.

B3 - Titus 2

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 ...speak <2980> thou the things which <3739> become <4241> sound <5198> doctrine <1319>:

7 In all <3956> things shewing <3930> thyself <4572> a pattern <5179> of good <2570> works <2041>: in doctrine <1319> [shewing] uncorruptness <90>, gravity <4587>, sincerity <861>,

11 For the grace <5485> of God <2316> that bringeth <4992> salvation <4992> hath appeared <2014> to all <3956> men <444>, 12 Teaching <3811> us that, denying <720> ungodliness <763> and worldly <2886> lusts <1939>, we should live <2198> soberly <4996>, righteously <1346>, and godly <2153>, in this <3588> present <3568> world <165>; 13 Looking <4327> for that blessed <3107> hope <1680>, and the glorious <1391> appearing <2015> of the great <3173> God <2316> and our Saviour <4990> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>; 14 Who <3739> gave <1325> himself <1438> for us, that he might redeem <3084> us from all <3956> iniquity <458>, and purify <2511> unto himself <1438> a peculiar <4041> people <2992>, zealous <2207> of good <2570> works <2041>.

KJV - 1 ...speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; 14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

NRSV - 1 ...as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine.

7 Show yourself in all respects a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, gravity,

11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all,12 training us to renounce impiety and worldly passions, and in the present age to live lives that are self-controlled, upright, and godly,13 while we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.14 He it is who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify for himself a people of his own who are zealous for good deeds.

TEV - "Sound Doctrine" - 1 But you must teach what agrees with sound doctrine. 2 Instruct the older men to be sober, sensible, and self-controlled; to be sound in their faith, love, and endurance. 3 In the same way instruct the older women to behave as women should who live a holy life. They must not be slanderers or slaves to wine. They must teach what is good, 4 in order to train the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, and to be good housewives who submit themselves to their husbands, so that no one will speak evil of the message that comes from God. 6 In the same way urge the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In all things you yourself must be an example of good behavior. Be sincere and serious in your teaching. 8 Use sound words that cannot be criticized, so that your enemies may be put to shame by not having anything bad to say about us. 9 Slaves are to submit themselves to their masters and please them in all things. They must not talk back to them 10 or steal from them. Instead, they must show that they are always good and faithful, so as to bring credit to the teaching about God our Savior in all they do. 11 For God has revealed his grace for the salvation of all mankind. 12 That grace instructs us to give up ungodly living and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this world, 13 as we wait for the blessed Day we hope for, when the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ will appear. 14 He gave himself for us, to rescue us from all wickedness and to make us a pure people who belong to him alone and are eager to do good. 15 Teach these things and use your full authority as you encourage and rebuke your hearers. Let none of them look down on you.

B4 - 2Th 3

KJV <Strong's #> - 5 ...the Lord <2962> direct <2720> your <5216> hearts <2588> into <1519> the love <26> of God <2316>, and into <1519> the patient <5281> waiting for Christ <5547>.

18 The grace <5485> of our Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547> [be] with you all <3956>...

KJV - 5 ...the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all...

NRSV - 5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.

18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with all of you...

TEV - "Pray for Us" - 1 Finally, our brothers, pray for us that the Lord's message may continue to spread rapidly and be received with honor, just as it was among you. 2 Pray also that God will rescue us from wicked and evil people; for not everyone believes the message. 3 But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and keep you safe from the Evil One. 4 And the Lord gives us confidence in you, and we are sure that you are doing and will continue to do what we tell you. 5 May the Lord lead you into a greater understanding of God's love and the endurance that is given by Christ.

"Final Words" - 16 May the Lord himself, who is our source of peace, give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with you all. 17 With my own hand I write this: Greetings from Paul. This is the way I sign every letter; this is how I write. 18 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

B5 - 1Jo 4

KJV <Strong's #> - 10 Herein <5129> is love <26>, not that we loved <25> God <2316>, but that he loved <25> us, and sent <649> his Son <5207> [to be] the propitiation <2434> for our sins <266>.

14 And we have seen <2300> and do testify <3140> that the Father <3962> sent <649> the Son <5207> [to be] the Saviour <4990> of the world <2889>.

KJV - 10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

NRSV - 10 In this is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.

14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father has sent his Son as the Savior of the world.

TEV - "God Is Love" - 7 Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9 And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him. 10 This is what love is: it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven. 11 Dear friends, if this is how God loved us, then we should love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God, but if we love one another, God lives in union with us, and his love is made perfect in us. 13 We are sure that we live in union with God and that he lives in union with us, because he has given us his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and tell others that the Father sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.

B6 - Luk 15

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 Then <1161> drew near <1448> unto him all <3956> the publicans <5057> and sinners <268> for to hear <191> him.

3 And he spake <2036> this <5026> parable <3850> unto them, saying <3004>, 4 What <5101> man <444> of you, having <2192> an hundred <1540> sheep <4263>, if he lose <622> one <1520> of them, doth not leave <2641> the ninety <1768> and nine <1768> in the wilderness <2048>, and go <4198> after <1909> that which is lost <622>, until <2193> he find <2147> it? 5 And when he hath found <2147> [it], he layeth <2007> [it] on <1909> his shoulders <5606>, rejoicing <5463>. 6 And when he cometh <2064> home <3624>, he calleth <4779> together <4779> [his] friends <5384> and neighbours <1069>, saying <3004> unto them, Rejoice <4796> with me; for I have found <2147> my sheep <4263> which <3588> was lost <622>.

KJV - 1 Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying, 4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? 5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

NRSV - 1 Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming near to listen to him.

3 So he told them this parable:4 "Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it?5 When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices.6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, "Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep that was lost.'

TEV - "The Lost Sheep" - 1 One day when many tax collectors and other outcasts came to listen to Jesus, 2 the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law started grumbling, "This man welcomes outcasts and even eats with them!" 3 So Jesus told them this parable: 4 "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them -- what does he do? He leaves the other ninety-nine sheep in the pasture and goes looking for the one that got lost until he finds it. 5 When he finds it, he is so happy that he puts it on his shoulders 6 and carries it back home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says to them, "I am so happy I found my lost sheep. Let us celebrate!' 7 In the same way, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine respectable people who do not need to repent.

B7 - Joh 10

KJV <Strong's #> - 7 ...Verily <281>, verily <281>, I say <3004> unto you, I am <1510> the door <2374> of the sheep <4263>.

9 I am <1510> the door <2374>: by me if <1437> any <5100> man enter <1525> in, he shall be saved <4982>, and shall go <1525> in and out, and find <2147> pasture <3542>.

14 I am <1510> the good <2570> shepherd <4166>, and know <1097> my [sheep], and am known <1097> of <5259> mine <3588 + 1699> [mine <21 + 1699> know <1097> me <1473>]. 15 As the Father <3962> knoweth <1097> me, even <2504> so know <1097> I the Father <3962>: and I lay <5087> down my life <5590> for the sheep <4263>. 16 And other <243> sheep <4263> I have <2192>, which <3739> are not of this <5026> fold <833>: them also <2548> I must <1163> bring <71>, and they shall hear <191> my voice <5456>; and there shall be <1096, 3 pers. sg. fut. mid. dep. indic.> [they will become <1096, 3 pers pl. fut. mid. dep. indic.>] one <3391> fold <4167>, [and] one <1520> shepherd <4166>.

30 I and [my] Father <3962> are one <1520>.

KJV - 7 ...Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine [mine know me]. 15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. 16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be [they will become] one fold, and one shepherd.

30 I and my Father are one.

NRSV - 7 ..."Very truly, I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep.

9 I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture.

14 I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me,15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep.16 I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

30 The Father and I are one."

TEV - "Jesus the Good Shepherd" - 7 So Jesus said again, "I am telling you the truth: I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All others who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the gate. Whoever comes in by me will be saved; he will come in and go out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life -- life in all its fullness. 11 "I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep. 12 When the hired man, who is not a shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees a wolf coming, he leaves the sheep and runs away; so the wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them. 13 The hired man runs away because he is only a hired man and does not care about the sheep. 14...15 I am the good shepherd. As the Father knows me and I know the Father, in the same way I know my sheep and they know me. And I am willing to die for them. 16 There are other sheep which belong to me that are not in this sheep pen. I must bring them, too; they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock with one shepherd.

"Jesus Is Rejected" - 25 Jesus answered, "I have already told you, but you would not believe me. The deeds I do by my Father's authority speak on my behalf; 26 but you will not believe, for you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never die. No one can snatch them away from me. 29 What my Father has given me is greater than everything, and no one can snatch them away from the Father's care. 30 The Father and I are one."

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 And [Jesus] entered <1525> and passed <1330> through <1330> Jericho <2410>. 2 And, behold <2400>, [there was] a man <435> named <2564> Zacchaeus <2195>, which <846> was the chief <754> among the publicans <754>, and he was rich <4145>. 3 And he sought <2212> to see <1492> Jesus <2424> who <5101> he was; and could <1410> not for the press <3793>, because <3754> he was little <3398> of stature <2244>. 4 And he ran <4390> before <1715>, and climbed <305> up into <1909> a sycomore <4809> tree <4809> to see <1492> him: for he was to pass <1330> that [way]. 5 And when <5613> Jesus <2424> came <2064> to the place <5117>, he looked <308> up, and <2532> saw <1492> him <846>, and said <2036> unto him, Zacchaeus <2195>, make <4692> haste <4692>, and come <2597> down <2597>; for to day <4594> I must <1163> abide <3306> at <1722> thy house <3624>. 6 And he made <4692> haste <4692>, and came <2597> down <2597>, and received <5264> him joyfully <5463>. 7 And when they saw <1492> [it], they all <537> murmured <1234>, saying <3004>, That he was gone <1525> to be guest <2647> with a man <435> that is a sinner <268>. 8 And Zacchaeus <2195> stood <2476>, and said <2036> unto the Lord <2962>; Behold <2400>, Lord <2962>, the half <2255> of my goods <5224> I give <1325> to the poor <4434>; and if <1487> I have taken any <5100> thing from any <1536> man by false <4811> accusation <4811>, I restore <591> [him] fourfold <5073>. 9 And Jesus <2424> said <2036> unto him, This <4594> day <4594> is salvation <4991> come <1096> to this <5129> house <3624>, forsomuch <2530> as he also <2532> is a son <5207> of Abraham <11>. 10 For the Son <5207> of man <444> is come <2064> to seek <2212> and to save <4982> that which was lost <622>.

KJV - 1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. 4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. 6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. 7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. 8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. 9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

NRSV - 1 He entered Jericho and was passing through it.2 A man was there named Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was rich.3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was short in stature.4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see him, because he was going to pass that way.5 When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, hurry and come down; for I must stay at your house today."6 So he hurried down and was happy to welcome him.7 All who saw it began to grumble and said, "He has gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner."8 Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, "Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor; and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much."9 Then Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he too is a son of Abraham.10 For the Son of Man came to seek out and to save the lost."

TEV - "Jesus and Zacchaeus" - 1 Jesus went on into Jericho and was passing through. 2 There was a chief tax collector there named Zacchaeus, who was rich. 3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he was a little man and could not see Jesus because of the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead of the crowd and climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus, who was going to pass that way. 5 When Jesus came to that place, he looked up and said to Zacchaeus, "Hurry down, Zacchaeus, because I must stay in your house today." 6 Zacchaeus hurried down and welcomed him with great joy. 7 All the people who saw it started grumbling, "This man has gone as a guest to the home of a sinner!" 8 Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Listen, sir! I will give half my belongings to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will pay him back four times as much." 9 Jesus said to him, "Salvation has come to this house today, for this man, also, is a descendant of Abraham. 10 The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

B9 - Mat 15

KJV <Strong's #> - 21 ...Jesus <2424> went <1831> thence <1564>, and departed <402> into <1519> the coasts <3313> of Tyre <5184> and Sidon <4605>. 22 And, behold <2400>, a woman <1135> of Canaan <5478> came <1831> out of the same <1565> coasts <3725>, and cried <2905> unto him, saying <3004>, Have mercy <1653> on me, O Lord <2962>, [thou] Son <5207> of David <1138>; my daughter <2364> is grievously <2560> vexed <1139> with a devil <1139>. 23 But he answered <611> her not a word <3056>. And his disciples <3101> came <4334> and besought <2065> him, saying <3004>, Send <630> her away <630>; for she crieth <2896> after <3693> us.

25 Then <1161> came <2064> she and worshipped <4352> him, saying <3004>, Lord <2962>, help <997> me. 26 But he answered <611> and said <2036>, It is not meet <2570> to take <2983> the children's <5043> bread <740>, and to cast <906> [it] to dogs <2952>. 27 And she said <2036>, Truth <3483>, Lord <2962>: yet <1063> the dogs <2952> eat <2068> of the crumbs <5589> which <3588> fall <4098> from their masters <2962>' table <5132>. 28 Then <5119> Jesus <2424> answered <611> and said <2036> unto her, O woman <1135>, great <3173> [is] thy faith <4102>: be it unto thee even as thou wilt <2309>. And her daughter <2364> was made <2390> whole <2390> from that very <1565> hour <5610>.

KJV - 21 ...Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

NRSV - 21 Jesus left that place and went away to the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22 Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon." 23 But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, "Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us."

25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me." 26 He answered, "It is not fair to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs." 27 She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." 28 Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed instantly.

TEV - "A Woman's Faith" - 21 Jesus left that place and went off to the territory near the cities of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman who lived in that region came to him. "Son of David!" she cried out. "Have mercy on me, sir! My daughter has a demon and is in a terrible condition." 23 But Jesus did not say a word to her. His disciples came to him and begged him, "Send her away! She is following us and making all this noise!" 24 Then Jesus replied, "I have been sent only to the lost sheep of the people of Israel." 25 At this the woman came and fell at his feet. "Help me, sir!" she said. 26 Jesus answered, "It isn't right to take the children's food and throw it to the dogs." 27 "That's true, sir," she answered, "but even the dogs eat the leftovers that fall from their masters' table." 28 So Jesus answered her, "You are a woman of great faith! What you want will be done for you." And at that very moment her daughter was healed.

B10 - Gal 3

KJV <Strong's #> - 26 For ye are all <3956> the children <5207> of God <2316> by [through] <1223> faith <4102> in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>.

28 There is neither <3756> Jew <2453> nor <3761> Greek <1672>, there is neither <3756> bond <1401> nor <3761> free <1658>, there is neither <3756> male <730> nor <3761> female <2338>: for ye are all <3956> one <1520> in Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>.

KJV - 26 For ye are all the children of God by [through] faith in Christ Jesus.

28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

NRSV - 26 for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.

28 There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.

TEV - "The Purpose of the Law" - 26 It is through faith that all of you are God's sons in union with Christ Jesus. 27 You were baptized into union with Christ, and now you are clothed, so to speak, with the life of Christ himself. 28 So there is no difference between Jews and Gentiles, between slaves and free men, between men and women; you are all one in union with Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are the descendants of Abraham and will receive what God has promised.

B11 - Mat 20

KJV <Strong's #> - 17 And Jesus <2424> going <305> up to Jerusalem <2414> took <3880> the twelve <1427> disciples <3101> apart <2398> in the way <3598>, and said <2036> unto them, 18 Behold <2400>, we go <305> up to Jerusalem <2414>; and the Son <5207> of man <444> shall be betrayed <3860> unto the chief <749> priests <749> and unto the scribes <1122>, and they shall condemn <2632> him to death <2288>, 19 And shall deliver <3860> him to the Gentiles <1484> to mock <1702>, and to scourge <3146>, and to crucify <4717> [him]: and the third <5154> day <2250> he shall rise <450> again <450>.

KJV - 17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, 18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem: and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.

NRSV - 17 While Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside by themselves, and said to them on the way,18 "See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death;19 then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised."

TEV - "Jesus Speaks a Third Time about His Death" - 17 As Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and spoke to them privately, as they walked along. 18 "Listen," he told them, "we are going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the teachers of the Law. They will condemn him to death 19 and then hand him over to the Gentiles, who will make fun of him, whip him, and crucify him; but three days later he will be raised to life."

B12 - Joh 16

KJV <Strong's #> - 16 A little <3397> while <3397>, and ye shall not see <2334> me: and again <3825>, a little <3397> while <3397>, and ye shall see <3700> me, because <3754> I go <5217> to the Father <3962>.

KJV - 16 A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.

NRSV - 16 "A little while, and you will no longer see me, and again a little while, and you will see me."

TEV - "Sadness and Gladness" - 16 "In a little while you will not see me any more, and then a little while later you will see me." 17 Some of his disciples asked among themselves, "What does this mean? He tells us that in a little while we will not see him, and then a little while later we will see him; and he also says, "It is because I am going to the Father.' 18 What does this "a little while' mean? We don't know what he is talking about!"

B13 - Joh 17

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 These <5023> words spake <2980> Jesus <2424>, and lifted <1869> up his eyes <3788> to heaven <3772>, and said <2036>, Father <3962>, the hour <5610> is come <2064>; glorify <1392> thy Son <5207>, that thy Son <5207> also <2532> may glorify <1392> thee:

6 I have manifested <5319> thy name <3686> unto the men <444> which <3739> thou gavest <1325> me out of the world <2889>: thine <4671> they were, and thou gavest <1325> them me; and they have kept <5083> thy word <3056>.

10 And all <3956> mine <1699> are thine <4674>, and thine <4674> are mine <1699>; and I am glorified <1392> in them.

20 Neither <1161> pray <2065> I for these <5130> alone <3440>, but for them also <2532> which shall believe <4100> on <1519> me through <1223> their word <3056>; 21 That they all <3956> may be one <1520>; as thou, Father <3962>, [art] in me, and I in thee, that they also <2532> may be one <1520> in us: that the world <2889> may believe <4100> that thou hast sent <649> me. 22 And the glory <1391> which <3739> thou gavest <1325> me I have given <1325> them; that they may be one <1520>, even <2531> as we are one <1520>: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made <5048> perfect <5048> in one <1520>;...

26 And I have declared <1107> unto them thy name <3686>, and will declare <1107> [it]: that the love <26> wherewith <3739> thou hast loved <25> me may be in them, and I in them.

KJV - 1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

10 And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.

20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one;...

26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

NRSV - 1 After Jesus had spoken these words, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you,

6 "I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.

10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I have been glorified in them.

20 "I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, 21 that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, 23 I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one,...

26 I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them."

TEV - "Jesus Prays for His Disciples" - 1 After Jesus finished saying this, he looked up to heaven and said, "Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your Son, so that the Son may give glory to you. 2 For you gave him authority over all mankind, so that he might give eternal life to all those you gave him. 3 And eternal life means to know you, the only true God, and to know Jesus Christ, whom you sent. 4 I have shown your glory on earth; I have finished the work you gave me to do. 5 Father! Give me glory in your presence now, the same glory I had with you before the world was made. 6 "I have made you known to those you gave me out of the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me. They have obeyed your word, 7 and now they know that everything you gave me comes from you. 8 I gave them the message that you gave me, and they received it; they know that it is true that I came from you, and they believe that you sent me. 9 "I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those you gave me, for they belong to you. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine; and my glory is shown through them.

20 "I pray not only for them, but also for those who believe in me because of their message. 21 I pray that they may all be one. Father! May they be in us, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they be one, so that the world will believe that you sent me. 22 I gave them the same glory you gave me, so that they may be one, just as you and I are one: 23 I in them and you in me, so that they may be completely one, in order that the world may know that you sent me and that you love them as you love me. 24 "Father! You have given them to me, and I want them to be with me where I am, so that they may see my glory, the glory you gave me; for you loved me before the world was made. 25 Righteous Father! The world does not know you, but I know you, and these know that you sent me. 26 I made you known to them, and I will continue to do so, in order that the love you have for me may be in them, and so that I also may be in them."

B14 - Eph 4

KJV <Strong's #> - 7 ...unto every <1538> one <1520> of us is given <1325> grace <5485> according <2596> to the measure <3358> of the gift <1431> of Christ <5547>.

11 And he gave <1325> some <3588>, apostles <652>; and some <3588>, prophets <4396>; and some <3588>, evangelists <2099>; and some <3588>, pastors <4166> and teachers <1320>; 12 For the perfecting <2677> of the saints <40>, for the work <2041> of the ministry <1248>, for the edifying <3619> of the body <4983> of Christ <5547>: 13 Till <3360> we all <3956> come <2658> in the unity <1775> of the faith <4102>, and of the knowledge <1922> of the Son <5207> of God <2316>, unto a perfect <5046> man <435>, unto the measure <3358> of the stature <2244> of the fulness <4138> of Christ <5547>:

KJV - 7 ...unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

NRSV - 7 ...each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ's gift.

11 The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,13 until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.

TEV - "The Unity of the Body" - 7 Each one of us has received a special gift in proportion to what Christ has given. 8 As the scripture says, "When he went up to the very heights, he took many captives with him; he gave gifts to mankind." 9 Now, what does "he went up" mean? It means that first he came down to the lowest depths of the earth. 10 So the one who came down is the same one who went up, above and beyond the heavens, to fill the whole universe with his presence. 11 It was he who "gave gifts to mankind"; he appointed some to be apostles, others to be prophets, others to be evangelists, others to be pastors and teachers. 12 He did this to prepare all God's people for the work of Christian service, in order to build up the body of Christ. 13 And so we shall all come together to that oneness in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God; we shall become mature people, reaching to the very height of Christ's full stature. 14 Then we shall no longer be children, carried by the waves and blown about by every shifting wind of the teaching of deceitful men, who lead others into error by the tricks they invent.

B15 - Heb 12

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 Wherefore <5105> seeing we also <2532> are compassed <4029> about <4029> with so <5118> great <5118> a cloud <3509> of witnesses <3144>, let us lay <659> aside <659> every <3956> weight <3591>, and the sin <266> which doth so easily beset <2139> [us], and let us run <5143> with patience <5281> the race <73> that is set <4295> before <4295> us, 2 Looking <872> unto Jesus <2424> the author <747> and finisher <5047> of [our] faith <4102>;...

KJV - 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith;...

NRSV - 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us,2 looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith,...

TEV - "God Our Father" - 1 As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us. 2 Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God's throne.

B16 - Rom 5

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 Therefore <3767> being justified <1344> by faith <4102>, we have <2192> peace <1515> with God <2316> through <1223> our Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>:

11 And not only <3440> [so], but we also <2532> joy <2744> in God <2316> through <1223> our Lord <2962> Jesus <2424> Christ <5547>, by whom <3739> we have now <3568> received <2983> the atonement <2643>.

KJV - 1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

NRSV - 1 Therefore, since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

11 But more than that, we even boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

TEV - "Right with God" - 1 Now that we have been put right with God through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 He has brought us by faith into this experience of God's grace, in which we now live. And so we boast of the hope we have of sharing God's glory! 3 We also boast of our troubles, because we know that trouble produces endurance, 4 endurance brings God's approval, and his approval creates hope. 5 This hope does not disappoint us, for God has poured out his love into our hearts by means of the Holy Spirit, who is God's gift to us. 6 For when we were still helpless, Christ died for the wicked at the time that God chose. 7 It is a difficult thing for someone to die for a righteous person. It may even be that someone might dare to die for a good person. 8 But God has shown us how much he loves us -- it was while we were still sinners that Christ died for us! 9 By his sacrificial death we are now put right with God; how much more, then, will we be saved by him from God's anger! 10 We were God's enemies, but he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Now that we are God's friends, how much more will we be saved by Christ's life! 11 But that is not all; we rejoice because of what God has done through our Lord Jesus Christ, who has now made us God's friends.

KJV

King James Version (KJV) -- Dr. Benjamin Blayney's 1769 revision of the KJV. Almost all of today's printed and electronic editions of the KJV are based upon Dr. Blayney's 1769 revision, which like many of its KJV-revision predecessors, does not include the Apocrypha and the marginal notes that were in the original 1611 edition of the KJV. Spelling and punctuation also are quite different from the 1611 edition. Even in today's editions of the KJV, there remain some punctuation and spelling differences among major publishers. In the KJV texts above, the strike-through words are those that were not in the original Hebrew (OT), Aramaic (Daniel only), or Greek (NT) texts of the Bible. [Bold-type bracketed words] are additions or corrections to enable the KJV text to better conform to what today's scholars believe to have been the original text, as published in the United Bible Society's definitive Hebrew Old Testament (Biblica Hebraica Stuttsgartensia) and Greek New Testament, 4th Revised Edition). [Regular-type bracketed words] are those words that are italized in the printed edition of the KJV. They are words that were added by the KJV translators without any corresponding Hebrew or Greek words.

Strong's numbers

Strong's numbers identify the Hebrew (OT) or Greek words (NT) from which the KJV words were translated, and they are enclosed in less-than and greater-than signs < >. Keep in mind that the Strong's numbers do not necessarily represent the Hebrew and Greek words in the original texts. They represent the Hebrew and Greek texts from which the KJV was translated. The following two resources are available to use the Strong's numbers:

On each Bible citation toolbar -- You will find links to Strong's Heb and Strong's Gr lexicons, which will enable you to use the Strong's numbers to explore the Hebrew and Greek words in the texts from which the KJV was translated. When inputting Strong's number into one of those online lexicons, delete any preceding zeros (0's). The easiest way to do this is to copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the number (1 to 4 digits) from the KJV text to the online lexicon's input field, then click on the lexicon's "Find" button.

On each Bible citation toolbar and S&H toolbar -- You will find a Strong's S&H link. This provides links to descriptions of those Hebrew and Greek words that are used in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Each word is identified by its respective Strong's numbers.
