GT - Isa 45

KJV <Strong's #> - 22 Look <06437> unto me, and be ye saved <03467>, all the ends <0657> of the earth <0776>: for I [am] God <0410>, and [there is] none <0369> else <05750>.

KJV - 22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.

NRSV - 22 Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.

TEV - "The LORD of the World and the Idols of Babylon" - 22 "Turn to me now and be saved, people all over the world! I am the only God there is. 23 My promise is true, and it will not be changed. I solemnly promise by all that I am: Everyone will come and kneel before me and vow to be loyal to me. 24 "They will say that only through me are victory and strength to be found; but all who hate me will suffer disgrace. 25 I, the LORD, will rescue all the descendants of Jacob, and they will give me praise.

RR1 - Isa 55

KJV <Strong's #> - 9 For [as] the heavens <08064> are higher <01361> than the earth <0776>, so <03651> are my ways <01870> higher <01361> than your ways <01870>, and my thoughts <04284> than your thoughts <04284>. 10 For as the rain <01653> cometh <03381> down <03381>, and the snow <07950> from heaven <08064>, and returneth <07725> not thither <08033>, but watereth <07301> the earth <0776>, and maketh it bring <03205> forth <03205> and bud <06779>, that it may give <05414> seed <02233> to the sower <02232>, and bread <03899> to the eater <0398>: 11 So <03651> shall my word <01697> be that goeth <03318> forth <03318> out of my mouth <06310>: it shall not return <07725> unto me void <07387>, but it shall accomplish <06213> that which <0834> I please <02654>, and it shall prosper <06743> [in the thing] whereto <0834> I sent <07971> it. 12 For ye shall go <03318> out with joy <08057>, and be led <02986> forth <02986> with peace <07965>:...

KJV - 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. 12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace:...

NRSV - 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and succeed in the thing for which I sent it. 12 For you shall go out in joy, and be led back in peace;...

TEV - "God's Offer of Mercy" - 6 Turn to the LORD and pray to him, now that he is near. 7 Let the wicked leave their way of life and change their way of thinking. Let them turn to the LORD, our God; he is merciful and quick to forgive. 8 "My thoughts," says the LORD, "are not like yours, and my ways are different from yours. 9 As high as the heavens are above the earth, so high are my ways and thoughts above yours. 10 "My word is like the snow and the rain that come down from the sky to water the earth. They make the crops grow and provide seed for planting and food to eat. 11 So also will be the word that I speak -- it will not fail to do what I plan for it; it will do everything I send it to do. 12 "You will leave Babylon with joy; you will be led out of the city in peace. The mountains and hills will burst into singing, and the trees will shout for joy. 13 Cypress trees will grow where now there are briers; myrtle trees will come up in place of thorns. This will be a sign that will last forever, a reminder of what I, the LORD, have done."

RR2 - Isa 45

KJV <Strong's #> - 2 I will go <03212> before <06440> thee, and make the crooked <01921> places straight <03474>: I will break <07665> in pieces the gates <01817> of brass <05154>, and cut <01438> in sunder the bars <01280> of iron <01270>:

5 I [am] the LORD <03068>, and [there is] none <0369> else <05750>, [there is] no <0369> God <0430> beside <02108> me:...

19 I have not spoken <01696> in secret <05643>, in a dark <02822> place <04725> of the earth <0776>: I said <0559> not unto the seed <02233> of Jacob <03290>, Seek <01245> ye me in vain <08414>: I the LORD <03068> speak <01696> righteousness <06664>, I declare <05046> things that are right <04339>.

KJV - 2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me:...

19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the Lord speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

NRSV - 2 I will go before you and level the mountains, I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut through the bars of iron,

5 I am the LORD, and there is no other; besides me there is no god...

19 I did not speak in secret, in a land of darkness; I did not say to the offspring of Jacob, "Seek me in chaos." I the LORD speak the truth, I declare what is right.

TEV - "The LORD Appoints Cyrus" - 1 The LORD has chosen Cyrus to be king. He has appointed him to conquer nations; he sends him to strip kings of their power; the LORD will open the gates of cities for him. To Cyrus the LORD says, 2 "I myself will prepare your way, leveling mountains and hills. I will break down bronze gates and smash their iron bars. 3 I will give you treasures from dark, secret places; then you will know that I am the LORD and that the God of Israel has called you by name.

5 "I am the LORD; there is no other god. I will give you the strength you need, although you do not know me. 6 I do this so that everyone from one end of the world to the other may know that I am the LORD and that there is no other god. 7 I create both light and darkness; I bring both blessing and disaster. I, the LORD, do all these things. 8 I will send victory from the sky like rain; the earth will open to receive it and will blossom with freedom and justice. I, the LORD, will make this happen."

"The LORD of Creation and History" - 18 The LORD created the heavens -- he is the one who is God! He formed and made the earth -- he made it firm and lasting. He did not make it a desolate waste, but a place for people to live. It is he who says, "I am the LORD, and there is no other god. 19 I have not spoken in secret or kept my purpose hidden. I did not require the people of Israel to look for me in a desolate waste. I am the LORD, and I speak the truth; I make known what is right."

B1 - Joh 1

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 In the beginning <746> was the Word <3056>, and the Word <3056> was with God <2316>, and the Word <3056> was God <2316>.

3 All <3956> things were made <1096> by [through] <1223> him; and without <5565> him was not any <1520> thing made <1096> that was made <1096>.

KJV - 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

3 All things were made by [through] him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

NRSV - 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

3 All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being

TEV - "The Word of Life" - 1 Before the world was created, the Word already existed; he was with God, and he was the same as God. 2 From the very beginning the Word was with God. 3 Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him. 4 The Word was the source of life, and this life brought light to mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.

B2 - Psa 92

KJV <Strong's #> - 5 O LORD <03068>, how <04100> great <01431> are thy works <04639>! [and] thy thoughts <04284> are very <03966> deep <06009>.

KJV - 5 O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

NRSV - 5 How great are your works, O LORD! Your thoughts are very deep!

TEV - "A Song of Praise" - 5 How great are your actions, LORD! How deep are your thoughts! 6 This is something a fool cannot know; a stupid man cannot understand: 7 the wicked may grow like weeds, those who do wrong may prosper; yet they will be totally destroyed, 8 because you, LORD, are supreme forever. 9 We know that your enemies will die, and all the wicked will be defeated. 10 You have made me as strong as a wild ox; you have blessed me with happiness. 11 I have seen the defeat of my enemies and heard the cries of the wicked.

B3 - Psa 33

KJV <Strong's #> - 4 For the word <01697> of the LORD <03068> [is] right <03477>; and all <03605> his works <04640> [are done] in truth <0530>. 5 He loveth <0157> righteousness <06666> and judgment <04941>: the earth <0776> is full <04390> of the goodness <02617> of the LORD <03068>.

10 The LORD <03068> bringeth <06331> the counsel <06098> of the heathen <01471> to nought <06331>: he maketh the devices <04284> of the people <05971> of none <05106> effect <05106>.

22 Let thy mercy <02617>, O LORD <03068>, be upon us, according as we hope <03176> in thee.

KJV - 4 For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth. 5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

10 The Lord bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

NRSV - 4 For the word of the LORD is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. 5 He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD.

10 The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; he frustrates the plans of the peoples.

22 Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you.

TEV - "A Song of Praise" - 1 All you that are righteous, shout for joy for what the LORD has done; praise him, all you that obey him. 2 Give thanks to the LORD with harps, sing to him with stringed instruments. 3 Sing a new song to him, play the harp with skill, and shout for joy! 4 The words of the LORD are true, and all his works are dependable. 5 The LORD loves what is righteous and just; his constant love fills the earth. 6 The LORD created the heavens by his command, the sun, moon, and stars by his spoken word. 7 He gathered all the seas into one place; he shut up the ocean depths in storerooms. 8 Worship the LORD, all the earth! Honor him, all peoples of the world! 9 When he spoke, the world was created; at his command everything appeared. 10 The LORD frustrates the purposes of the nations; he keeps them from carrying out their plans. 11 But his plans endure forever; his purposes last eternally. 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD; happy are the people he has chosen for his own!

20 We put our hope in the LORD; he is our protector and our help. 21 We are glad because of him; we trust in his holy name. 22 May your constant love be with us, LORD, as we put our hope in you.

B4 - Psa 19

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 To the chief Musician <05329>, A Psalm <04210> of David <01732>. The heavens <08064> declare <05608> the glory <03519> of God <0410>; and the firmament <07549> sheweth <05046> his handywork.

7 The law <08451> of the LORD <03068> [is] perfect <08549>, converting <07725> the soul <05315>: the testimony <05715> of the LORD <03068> [is] sure <0539>, making wise <02449> the simple <06612>.

KJV - 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

NRSV - 1 The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the decrees of the LORD are sure, making wise the simple;

TEV - "God's Glory in Creation" - 1 How clearly the sky reveals God's glory! How plainly it shows what he has done! 2 Each day announces it to the following day; each night repeats it to the next.

"The Law of the LORD" - 7 The law of the LORD is perfect; it gives new strength. The commands of the LORD are trustworthy, giving wisdom to those who lack it. 8 The laws of the LORD are right, and those who obey them are happy. The commands of the LORD are just and give understanding to the mind. 9 Reverence for the LORD is good; it will continue forever. The judgments of the LORD are just; they are always fair. 10 They are more desirable than the finest gold; they are sweeter than the purest honey.

B5 - Psa 119

KJV <Strong's #> - 125 I [am] thy servant <05650>; give me understanding <0995>, that I may know <03045> thy testimonies <05713>.

KJV - 125 I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.

NRSV - 125 I am your servant; give me understanding, so that I may know your decrees.

TEV - "Obedience to the Law of the LORD" - 121 I have done what is right and good; don't abandon me to my enemies! 122 Promise that you will help your servant; don't let arrogant men oppress me! 123 My eyes are tired from watching for your saving help, for the deliverance you promised. 124 Treat me according to your constant love, and teach me your commands. 125 I am your servant; give me understanding, so that I may know your teachings. 126 LORD, it is time for you to act, because people are disobeying your law. 127 I love your commands more than gold, more than the finest gold.

B6 - Job 33

KJV <Strong's #> - 22 ...his soul <05315> draweth near <07126> unto the grave <07845>, and his life <02416> to the destroyers <04191>. 23 If <0518> there be a messenger <04397> with him, an interpreter <03887>, one <0259> among <04480> a thousand <0505>, to shew <05046> unto man <0120> his uprightness <03476>: 24 Then he is gracious <02603> unto him, and saith <0559>, Deliver <06308> him from going <03381> down <03381> to the pit <07845>: I have found <04672> a ransom <03724>. 25 His flesh <01320> shall be fresher <07375> than a child's <05290>: he shall return <07725> to the days <03117> of his youth <05934>: 26 He shall pray <06279> unto God <0433>, and he will be favourable <07520> unto him: and he shall see <07200> his face <06440> with joy <08643>: for he will render <07725> unto man <0582> his righteousness <06666>.

28 He will deliver <06299> his soul <05315> from going <05674> into the pit <07845>, and his life <02416> shall see <07200> the light <0216>. 29 Lo <02005>, all <03605> these <0428> [things] worketh <06466> God <0410> oftentimes with man <01397>, 30 To bring <07725> back <07725> his soul <05315> from the pit <07845>, to be enlightened <0215> with the light <0216> of the living <02416>.

KJV - 22 ...his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers. 23 If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: 24 Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom. 25 His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth: 26 He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.

28 He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light. 29 Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, 30 To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

NRSV - 22 Their souls draw near the Pit, and their lives to those who bring death. 23 Then, if there should be for one of them an angel, a mediator, one of a thousand, one who declares a person upright, 24 and he is gracious to that person, and says, "Deliver him from going down into the Pit; I have found a ransom; 25 let his flesh become fresh with youth; let him return to the days of his youthful vigor.' 26 Then he prays to God, and is accepted by him, he comes into his presence with joy, and God repays him for his righteousness.

28 He has redeemed my soul from going down to the Pit, and my life shall see the light.' 29 "God indeed does all these things, twice, three times, with mortals, 30 to bring back their souls from the Pit, so that they may see the light of life.

TEV - "The Speeches of Elihu" - 20 The sick man loses his appetite, and even the finest food looks revolting. 21 His body wastes away to nothing; you can see all his bones; 22 he is about to go to the world of the dead. 23 Perhaps an angel may come to his aid -- one of God's thousands of angels, who remind men of their duty. 24 In mercy the angel will say, "Release him! He is not to go down to the world of the dead. Here is the ransom to set him free." 25 His body will grow young and strong again; 26 when he prays, God will answer him; he will worship God with joy; God will set things right for him again. 27 He will say in public, "I have sinned. I have not done right, but God spared me. 28 He kept me from going to the world of the dead, and I am still alive." 29 God does all this again and again; 30 he saves a person's life, and gives him the joy of living. 31 Now, Job, listen to what I am saying; be quiet and let me speak. 32 But if you have something to say, let me hear it; I would gladly admit you are in the right. 33 But if not, be quiet and listen to me, and I will teach you how to be wise.

B7 - Isa 52

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 Awake <05782>, awake <05782>; put <03847> on thy strength <05797>, O Zion <06726>; put <03847> on thy beautiful <08597> garments <0899>, O Jerusalem <03389>, the holy <06944> city <05892>: for henceforth <06258> there shall no <03808> more come <0935> into thee the uncircumcised <06189> and the unclean <02931>.

7 How <04100> beautiful <04998> upon the mountains <02022> are the feet <07272> of him that bringeth <01319> good <02896> tidings <01319>, that publisheth <08085> peace <07965>; that bringeth <01319> good <02896> tidings <01319> of good <02896>, that publisheth <08085> salvation <03444>; that saith <0559> unto Zion <06726>, Thy God <0430> reigneth <04427>!

KJV - 1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion;...

7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!

NRSV - 1 Awake, awake, put on your strength, O Zion! Put on your beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; for the uncircumcised and the unclean shall enter you no more.

7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns."

TEV - "God Will Rescue Jerusalem" - 1 Jerusalem, be strong and great again! Holy city of God, clothe yourself with splendor! The heathen will never enter your gates again. 2 Shake yourself free, Jerusalem! Rise from the dust and sit on your throne! Undo the chains that bind you, captive people of Zion!

7 How wonderful it is to see a messenger coming across the mountains, bringing good news, the news of peace! He announces victory and says to Zion, "Your God is king!" 8 Those who guard the city are shouting, shouting together for joy. They can see with their own eyes the return of the LORD to Zion.

B8 - Job 37

KJV <Strong's #> - 23 [Touching] the Almighty <07706>, we cannot <03808> find <04672> him out: [he is] excellent <07689> in power <03581>, and in judgment <04941>, and in plenty <07230> of justice <06666>: he will not afflict <06031>.

KJV - 23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.

NRSV - 23 The Almighty -- we cannot find him; he is great in power and justice, and abundant righteousness he will not violate.

TEV - "The Speeches of Elihu" - 20 I won't ask to speak with God; why should I give him a chance to destroy me? 21 And now the light in the sky is dazzling, too bright for us to look at it; and the sky has been swept clean by the wind. 22 A golden glow is seen in the north, and the glory of God fills us with awe. 23 God's power is so great that we cannot come near him; he is righteous and just in his dealings with men. 24 No wonder, then, that everyone is awed by him, and that he ignores those who claim to be wise.

B9 - Job 38

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 Then the LORD <03068> answered <06030> Job <0347> out of the whirlwind <05591>, and said <0559>, 2 Who <04310> [is] this <02088> that darkeneth <02821> counsel <06098> by words <04405> without <01097> knowledge <01847>?

4 Where <0375> wast <01961> thou when I laid the foundations <03245> of the earth <0776>?...

33 Knowest <03045> thou the ordinances <02708> of heaven <08064>? canst thou set <07760> the dominion <04896> thereof in the earth <0776>?

36 Who <04310> hath put <07896> wisdom <02451> in the inward <02910> parts? or <0176> who <04310> hath given <05414> understanding <0998> to the heart <07907>?

KJV - 1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, 2 Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?...

33 Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

36 Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the heart?

NRSV - 1 Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind: 2 "Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?

4 "Where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth?...

33 Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you establish their rule on the earth?

36 Who has put wisdom in the inward parts, or given understanding to the mind?

TEV - "The LORD Answers Job" - 1 Then out of the storm the LORD spoke to Job. 2 Who are you to question my wisdom with your ignorant, empty words? 3 Stand up now like a man and answer the questions I ask you. 4 Were you there when I made the world? If you know so much, tell me about it. 5 Who decided how large it would be? Who stretched the measuring line over it? Do you know all the answers? 6 What holds up the pillars that support the earth? Who laid the cornerstone of the world? 7 In the dawn of that day the stars sang together, and the heavenly beings shouted for joy.

31 Can you tie the Pleiades together or loosen the bonds that hold Orion? 32 Can you guide the stars season by season and direct the Big and the Little Dipper? 33 Do you know the laws that govern the skies, and can you make them apply to the earth? 34 Can you shout orders to the clouds and make them drench you with rain? 35 And if you command the lightning to flash, will it come to you and say, "At your service"? 36 Who tells the ibis when the Nile will flood, or who tells the rooster that rain will fall? 37 Who is wise enough to count the clouds and tilt them over to pour out the rain, 38 rain that hardens the dust into lumps?

B10 - Job 40

KJV <Strong's #> - 10 Deck <05710> thyself now <04994> [with] majesty <01347> and excellency <01363>; and array <03847> thyself with glory <01935> and beauty <01926>.

KJV - 10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

NRSV - 10 "Deck yourself with majesty and dignity; clothe yourself with glory and splendor.

TEV - "The LORD Answers Job" - 7 Stand up now like a man, and answer my questions. 8 Are you trying to prove that I am unjust -- to put me in the wrong and yourself in the right? 9 Are you as strong as I am? Can your voice thunder as loud as mine? 10 If so, stand up in your honor and pride; clothe yourself with majesty and glory. 11 Look at those who are proud; pour out your anger and humble them. 12 Yes, look at them and bring them down; crush the wicked where they stand. 13 Bury them all in the ground; bind them in the world of the dead.

B11 - Job 42

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 Then Job <0347> answered <06030> the LORD <03068>, and said <0559>, 2 I know <03045> that thou canst <03201> do every <03605> [thing], and [that] no <03908> thought <04209> can be withholden <01219> from thee.

5 I have heard <08085> of thee by the hearing <08088> of the ear <0241>: but now <06258> mine eye <05869> seeth <07200> thee.

KJV - 1 Then Job answered the Lord, and said, 2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.

5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.

NRSV - 1 Then Job answered the LORD: 2 "I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.

5 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you;

TEV - "Job" - 1 Then Job answered the LORD. 2 I know, LORD, that you are all-powerful; that you can do everything you want. 3 You ask how I dare question your wisdom when I am so very ignorant. I talked about things I did not understand, about marvels too great for me to know. 4 You told me to listen while you spoke and to try to answer your questions. 5 In the past I knew only what others had told me, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. 6 So I am ashamed of all I have said and repent in dust and ashes.

B12 - Pro 3

KJV <Strong's #> - 24 When <0518> thou liest <07901> down <07901>, thou shalt not be afraid <06342>: yea, thou shalt lie <07901> down <07901>, and thy sleep <08142> shall be sweet <06148>. 25 Be not afraid <03372> of sudden <06597> fear <06343>, neither of the desolation <07722> of the wicked <07563>, when <03588> it cometh <0935>. 26 For the LORD <03068> shall be thy confidence <03689>, and shall keep <08104> thy foot <07272> from being taken <03921>.

KJV - 24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet. 25 Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh. 26 For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

NRSV - 24 If you sit down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. 25 Do not be afraid of sudden panic, or of the storm that strikes the wicked; 26 for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.

TEV - "Advice to Young Men" - 21 Son, hold on to your wisdom and insight. Never let them get away from you. 22 They will provide you with life -- a pleasant and happy life. 23 You can go safely on your way and never even stumble. 24 You will not be afraid when you go to bed, and you will sleep soundly through the night. 25 You will not have to worry about sudden disasters, such as come on the wicked like a storm. 26 The LORD will keep you safe. He will not let you fall into a trap.

B13 - Deu 18

KJV <Strong's #> - 13 Thou shalt be perfect <08549> with the LORD <03068> thy God <0430>.

KJV - 13 Thou shalt be perfect with the Lord thy God.

NRSV - 13 You must remain completely loyal to the LORD your God.

TEV - "Warning against Pagan Practices" - 9 "When you come into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, don't follow the disgusting practices of the nations that are there. 10 Don't sacrifice your children in the fires on your altars; and don't let your people practice divination or look for omens or use spells 11 or charms, and don't let them consult the spirits of the dead. 12 The LORD your God hates people who do these disgusting things, and that is why he is driving those nations out of the land as you advance. 13 Be completely faithful to the LORD."

B14 - Psa 139

KJV <Strong's #> - 11 If I say <0559>, Surely <0389> the darkness <02822> shall cover <07779> me; even the night <03915> shall be light <0216> about <01157> me. 12 Yea <01571>, the darkness <02822> hideth <02721> not from thee; but the night <03915> shineth <0215> as the day <03117>: the darkness <02825> and the light <0219> [are] both alike [to thee].

17 How <04100> precious <03365> also are thy thoughts <07454> unto me, O God <0410>! how <04100> great <06105> is the sum <07218> of them! 18 [If] I should count <05608> them, they are more <07235> in number than the sand <02344>: when I awake <06974>, I am still <05750> with thee.

KJV - 11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me [and the light around me shall become night]. 12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

NRSV - 11 If I say, "Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light around me become night," 12 even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is as bright as the day, for darkness is as light to you.

17 How weighty to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18 I try to count them -- they are more than the sand; I come to the end -- I am still with you.

TEV - "God's Complete Knowledge and Care" - 7 Where could I go to escape from you? Where could I get away from your presence? 8 If I went up to heaven, you would be there; if I lay down in the world of the dead, you would be there. 9 If I flew away beyond the east or lived in the farthest place in the west, 10 you would be there to lead me, you would be there to help me. 11 I could ask the darkness to hide me or the light around me to turn into night, 12 but even darkness is not dark for you, and the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are the same to you.

17 O God, how difficult I find your thoughts; how many of them there are! 18 If I counted them, they would be more than the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.

B15 - Jer 1

KJV <Strong's #> - 7 ...the LORD <03068> said <0559> unto me, Say <0559> not, I [am] a child <05288>: for thou shalt go <03212> to all <03605> that I shall send <07971> thee, and whatsoever I command <06680> thee thou shalt speak <01696>. 8 Be not afraid <03372> of their faces <06440>: for I [am] with thee to deliver <05337> thee, saith <05002> the LORD <03068>.

KJV - 7 ...the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. 8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.

NRSV - 7 ...the LORD said to me, "Do not say, "I am only a boy'; for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and you shall speak whatever I command you, 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the LORD."

TEV - "The Call of Jeremiah" - 4 The LORD said to me, 5 "I chose you before I gave you life, and before you were born I selected you to be a prophet to the nations." 6 I answered, "Sovereign LORD, I don't know how to speak; I am too young." 7 But the LORD said to me, "Do not say that you are too young, but go to the people I send you to, and tell them everything I command you to say. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I will be with you to protect you. I, the LORD, have spoken!" 9 Then the LORD reached out, touched my lips, and said to me, "Listen, I am giving you the words you must speak. 10 Today I give you authority over nations and kingdoms to uproot and to pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant."

B16 - Isa 66

KJV <Strong's #> - 13 As one <0376> whom <0834> his mother <0517> comforteth <05162>, so <03651> will I comfort <05162> you;...

KJV - 13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you;...

NRSV - 13 As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you;...

TEV - "The LORD Judges the Nations" - 12 The LORD says, "I will bring you lasting prosperity; the wealth of the nations will flow to you like a river that never goes dry. You will be like a child that is nursed by its mother, carried in her arms, and treated with love. 13 I will comfort you in Jerusalem, as a mother comforts her child. 14 When you see this happen, you will be glad; it will make you strong and healthy. Then you will know that I, the LORD, help those who obey me, and I show my anger against my enemies." 15 The LORD will come with fire. He will ride on the wings of a storm to punish those he is angry with. 16 By fire and sword he will punish all the people of the world whom he finds guilty -- and many will be put to death.

B17 - Mat 21

KJV <Strong's #> - ...Blessed <2127> [is] he that cometh <2064> in the name <3686> of the Lord <2962>;...

12 And Jesus <2424> went <1525> into <1519> the temple <2411> of God <2316>, and cast <1544> out all <3956> them that sold <4453> and bought <59> in the temple <2411>, and overthrew <2690> the tables <5132> of the moneychangers <2855>, and the seats <2515> of them that sold <4453> doves <4058>, 13 And said <3004> unto them, It is written <1125>, My house <3624> shall be called <2564> the house <3624> of prayer <4335>;...

14 And the blind <5185> and the lame <5560> came <4334> to him in the temple <2411>; and he healed <2323> them.

KJV - 9 ...Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord;...

12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, 13 And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer;...

14 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.

NRSV - 9 ...Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!...

12 Then Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 He said to them, "It is written, "My house shall be called a house of prayer';...

14 The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he cured them.

TEV - "The Triumphant Entry into Jerusalem" - 4 This happened in order to make come true what the prophet had said: 5 "Tell the city of Zion, Look, your king is coming to you! He is humble and rides on a donkey and on a colt, the foal of a donkey." 6 So the disciples went and did what Jesus had told them to do: 7 they brought the donkey and the colt, threw their cloaks over them, and Jesus got on. 8 A large crowd of people spread their cloaks on the road while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds walking in front of Jesus and those walking behind began to shout, "Praise to David's Son! God bless him who comes in the name of the Lord! Praise be to God!"

"Jesus Goes to the Temple" - 12 Jesus went into the Temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the stools of those who sold pigeons, 13 and said to them, "It is written in the Scriptures that God said, "My Temple will be called a house of prayer.' But you are making it a hideout for thieves!" 14 The blind and the crippled came to him in the Temple, and he healed them. 15 The chief priests and the teachers of the Law became angry when they saw the wonderful things he was doing and the children shouting in the Temple, "Praise to David's Son!" 16 So they asked Jesus, "Do you hear what they are saying?" "Indeed I do," answered Jesus. "Haven't you ever read this scripture? "You have trained children and babies to offer perfect praise." 17 Jesus left them and went out of the city to Bethany, where he spent the night.

B18 - Joh 2

KJV <Strong's #> - 18 Then <3767> answered <611> the Jews <2453> and said <2036> unto him, What <5101> sign <4592> shewest <1166> thou unto us, seeing that thou doest <4160> these <5023> things? 19 Jesus <2424> answered <611> and said <2036> unto them, Destroy <3089> this <5126> temple <3485>, and in three <5140> days <2250> I will raise <1453> it up.

21 But he spake <3004> of the temple <3485> of his body <4983>. 22 When <3753> therefore <3767> he was risen <1453> from the dead <3498>, his disciples <3101> remembered <3415> that he had said <3004> this <5124> unto them; and they believed <4100> the scripture <1124>, and the word <3056> which <3739> Jesus <2424> had said <2036>.

KJV - 18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things? 19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

21 But he spake of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

NRSV - 18 The Jews then said to him, "What sign can you show us for doing this?" 19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up."

21 But he was speaking of the temple of his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

TEV - "Jesus Goes to the Temple" - 18 The Jewish authorities came back at him with a question, "What miracle can you perform to show us that you have the right to do this?" 19 Jesus answered, "Tear down this Temple, and in three days I will build it again." 20 "Are you going to build it again in three days?" they asked him. "It has taken forty-six years to build this Temple!" 21 But the temple Jesus was speaking about was his body. 22 So when he was raised from death, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and they believed the scripture and what Jesus had said.

B19 - Joh 3

KJV <Strong's #> - 16 For God <2316> so <3779> loved <25> the world <2889>, that he gave <1325> his only <3439> begotten <3439> Son <5207>, that whosoever <3588> believeth <4100> in him should not perish <622>, but have <2192> everlasting <166> life <2222>. 17 For God <2316> sent <649> not his Son <5207> into <1519> the world <2889> to condemn <2919> the world <2889>; but that the world <2889> through <1223> him might be saved <4982>.

KJV - 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

NRSV - 16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. 17 "Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

TEV - "Jesus and Nicodemus" - 14 As Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the desert, in the same way the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its savior.

B20 - Act 5

KJV <Strong's #> - 12 And by the hands <5495> of the apostles <652> were many <4183> signs <4592> and wonders <5059> wrought <1096> among <1722> the people <2992>;...

17 Then <1161> the high <749> priest <749> rose <450> up, and all <3956> they that were with him, (which is the sect <139> of the Sadducees <4523>,) and were filled <4130> with indignation <2205>, 18 And laid <1911> their hands <5495> on <1909> the apostles <652>, and put <5087> them in the common <1219> prison <5084>.

KJV - 12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people;...

17 Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation, 18 And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.

NRSV - 12 Now many signs and wonders were done among the people through the apostles...

17 Then the high priest took action; he and all who were with him (that is, the sect of the Sadducees), being filled with jealousy, 18 arrested the apostles and put them in the public prison.

TEV - "Miracles and Wonders" - 12 Many miracles and wonders were being performed among the people by the apostles. All the believers met together in Solomon's Porch. 13 Nobody outside the group dared join them, even though the people spoke highly of them. 14 But more and more people were added to the group -- a crowd of men and women who believed in the Lord. 15 As a result of what the apostles were doing, sick people were carried out into the streets and placed on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by. 16 And crowds of people came in from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing those who were sick or who had evil spirits in them; and they were all healed.

"The Apostles Are Persecuted" - 17 Then the High Priest and all his companions, members of the local party of the Sadducees, became extremely jealous of the apostles; so they decided to take action. 18 They arrested the apostles and put them in the public jail. 19 But that night an angel of the Lord opened the prison gates, led the apostles out, and said to them, 20 "Go and stand in the Temple, and tell the people all about this new life." 21 The apostles obeyed, and at dawn they entered the Temple and started teaching. The High Priest and his companions called together all the Jewish elders for a full meeting of the Council; then they sent orders to the prison to have the apostles brought before them.

B21 - Act 16

KJV <Strong's #> - 25 And at <2596> midnight <3317> Paul <3972> and Silas <4609> prayed <4336>, and sang <5214> praises unto God <2316>: and the prisoners <1198> heard <1874> them. 26 And suddenly <869> there was a great <3173> earthquake <4578>, so <5620> that the foundations <2310> of the prison <1201> were shaken <4531>: and immediately <3916> all <3956> the doors <2374> were opened <455>, and every <3956> one's bands <1199> were loosed <447>.

40 And they went <1831> out of the prison <5438>, and entered <1525> into <1519> [the house of] Lydia <3070>: and when they had seen <1492> the brethren <80>, they comforted <3870> them, and departed <1831>.

KJV - 25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

40 And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.

NRSV - 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was an earthquake, so violent that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were unfastened.

40 After leaving the prison they went to Lydia's home; and when they had seen and encouraged the brothers and sisters there, they departed.

TEV - "In Prison at Philippi" - 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a violent earthquake, which shook the prison to its foundations. At once all the doors opened, and the chains fell off all the prisoners. 27 The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he thought that the prisoners had escaped; so he pulled out his sword and was about to kill himself. 28 But Paul shouted at the top of his voice, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!" 29 The jailer called for a light, rushed in, and fell trembling at the feet of Paul and Silas. 30 Then he led them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"

37 But Paul said to the police officers, "We were not found guilty of any crime, yet they whipped us in public -- and we are Roman citizens! Then they threw us in prison. And now they want to send us away secretly? Not at all! The Roman officials themselves must come here and let us out." 38 The police officers reported these words to the Roman officials; and when they heard that Paul and Silas were Roman citizens, they were afraid. 39 So they went and apologized to them; then they led them out of the prison and asked them to leave the city. 40 Paul and Silas left the prison and went to Lydia's house. There they met the believers, spoke words of encouragement to them, and left.

B22 - Phi 4

KJV <Strong's #> - 4 Rejoice <5463> in the Lord <2962> alway <3842>: [and] again <3825> I say <2046>, Rejoice <5463>.

7 And the peace <1515> of God <2316>, which <3588> passeth <5242> all <3956> understanding <3563>, shall keep <5432> your <5216> hearts <2588> and minds <3540> through <1722> Christ <5547> Jesus <2424>. 8 Finally <3063>, brethren <80>, whatsoever <3745> things are true <227>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] honest <4586>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] just <1342>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] pure <53>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] lovely <4375>, whatsoever <3745> things [are] of good <2163> report <2163>; if <1487> [there be] any <1536> virtue <703>, and if <1487> [there be] any <1536> praise <1868>, think <3049> on these <5023> things.

KJV - 4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

NRSV - 4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.

7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

TEV - "Instructions" - 1 So then, my brothers, how dear you are to me and how I miss you! How happy you make me, and how proud I am of you! -- this, dear brothers, is how you should stand firm in your life in the Lord. 2 Euodia and Syntyche, please, I beg you, try to agree as sisters in the Lord. 3 And you too, my faithful partner, I want you to help these women; for they have worked hard with me to spread the gospel, together with Clement and all my other fellow workers, whose names are in God's book of the living. 4 May you always be joyful in your union with the Lord. I say it again: rejoice! 5 Show a gentle attitude toward everyone. The Lord is coming soon. 6 Don't worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. 7 And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. 8 In conclusion, my brothers, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable. 9 Put into practice what you learned and received from me, both from my words and from my actions. And the God who gives us peace will be with you.

King James Version (KJV) -- Dr. Benjamin Blayney's 1769 revision of the KJV. Almost all of today's printed and electronic editions of the KJV are based upon Dr. Blayney's 1769 revision, which like many of its KJV-revision predecessors, does not include the Apocrypha and the marginal notes that were in the original 1611 edition of the KJV. Spelling and punctuation also are quite different from the 1611 edition. Even in today's editions of the KJV, there remain some punctuation and spelling differences among major publishers. In the KJV texts above, the strike-through words are those that were not in the original Hebrew (OT), Aramaic (Daniel only), or Greek (NT) texts of the Bible. [Bold-type bracketed words] are additions or corrections to enable the KJV text to better conform to what today's scholars believe to have been the original text, as published in the United Bible Society's definitive Hebrew Old Testament (Biblica Hebraica Stuttsgartensia) and Greek New Testament, 4th Revised Edition). [Regular-type bracketed words] are those words that are italized in the printed edition of the KJV. They are words that were added by the KJV translators without any corresponding Hebrew or Greek words.

Strong's numbers

Strong's numbers identify the Hebrew (OT) or Greek words (NT) from which the KJV words were translated, and they are enclosed in less-than and greater-than signs < >. Keep in mind that the Strong's numbers do not necessarily represent the Hebrew and Greek words in the original texts. They represent the Hebrew and Greek texts from which the KJV was translated. The following two resources are available to use the Strong's numbers:

On each Bible citation toolbar -- You will find links to Strong's Heb and Strong's Gr lexicons, which will enable you to use the Strong's numbers to explore the Hebrew and Greek words in the texts from which the KJV was translated. When inputting Strong's number into one of those online lexicons, delete any preceding zeros (0's). The easiest way to do this is to copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the number (1 to 4 digits) from the KJV text to the online lexicon's input field, then click on the lexicon's "Find" button.

On each Bible citation toolbar and S&H toolbar -- You will find a Strong's S&H link. This provides links to descriptions of those Hebrew and Greek words that are used in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Each word is identified by its respective Strong's numbers.
