GT - Isa 42

KJV <Strong's #> - 8 I [am] the LORD <03068>: that [is] my name <08034>: and my glory <03519> will I not give <05414> to another <0312>, neither my praise <08416> to graven <06456> images.

KJV - 8 I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

NRSV - 8 I am the LORD, that is my name; my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to idols.

TEV - "The LORD's Servant" - 8 "I alone am the LORD your God. No other god may share my glory; I will not let idols share my praise. 9 The things I predicted have now come true. Now I will tell you of new things even before they begin to happen."

RR1 - 2Co 6

KJV <Strong's #> - 14 Be ye not unequally <2086> yoked <2086> together <2086> with unbelievers <571>: for what <5101> fellowship <3352> hath righteousness <1343> with unrighteousness <458>? and what <5101> communion <2842> hath light <5457> with darkness <4655>?

16 And what <5101> agreement <4783> hath the temple <3485> of God <2316> with idols <1497>? for ye are the temple <3485> of the living <2198> God <2316>; as God <2316> hath said <2036>, I will dwell <1774> in them, and walk <1704> in [them]; and I will be their God <2316>, and they shall be my people <2992>. 17 Wherefore <1352> come <1831> out from among <3319> them, and be ye separate <873>, saith <3004> the Lord <2962>, and touch <680> not the unclean <169> [thing]; and I will receive <1523> you, 18 And will be a Father <3962> unto you, and ye shall be my sons <5207> and daughters <2364>, saith <3004> the Lord <2962> Almighty <3841>.

KJV - 14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

NRSV - 14 Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness?

16 What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, "I will live in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you, 18 and I will be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

TEV - "Warning against Pagan Influences" - 14 Do not try to work together as equals with unbelievers, for it cannot be done. How can right and wrong be partners? How can light and darkness live together? 15 How can Christ and the Devil agree? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 How can God's temple come to terms with pagan idols? For we are the temple of the living God! As God himself has said, "I will make my home with my people and live among them; I will be their God, and they shall be my people." 17 And so the Lord says, "You must leave them and separate yourselves from them. Have nothing to do with what is unclean, and I will accept you. 18 I will be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."

RR2 - 2Co 10

KJV <Strong's #> - 3 For though we walk <4043> in the flesh <4561>, we do not war <4754> after <2596> the flesh <4561>: 4 (For the weapons <3696> of our warfare <4752> [are] not carnal <4559>, but mighty <1415> through God <2316> to the pulling <2506> down <2506> of strong <3794> holds <3794>;) 5 Casting <2507> down <2504> imaginations <3053>, and every <3956> high <5313> thing <5313> that exalteth <1869> itself against <2596> the knowledge <1108> of God <2316>, and bringing <163> into captivity <163> every <3956> thought <3540> to the obedience <5218> of Christ <5547>;

KJV - 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

NRSV - 3 Indeed, we live as human beings, but we do not wage war according to human standards; 4 for the weapons of our warfare are not merely human, but they have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments 5 and every proud obstacle raised up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to obey Christ.

TEV - "Paul Defends His Ministry" - 1 I, Paul, make a personal appeal to you -- I who am said to be meek and mild when I am with you, but harsh with you when I am away. By the gentleness and kindness of Christ 2 I beg you not to force me to be harsh when I come; for I am sure I can deal harshly with those who say that we act from worldly motives. 3 It is true that we live in the world, but we do not fight from worldly motives. 4 The weapons we use in our fight are not the world's weapons but God's powerful weapons, which we use to destroy strongholds. We destroy false arguments; 5 we pull down every proud obstacle that is raised against the knowledge of God; we take every thought captive and make it obey Christ. 6 And after you have proved your complete loyalty, we will be ready to punish any act of disloyalty.

B1 - Isa 52

KJV <Strong's #> - 2 Shake <05287> thyself from the dust <06083>; arise <06965>, [and] sit <03427> down, O Jerusalem <03389>: loose <06605> thyself from the bands <04147> of thy neck <06677>, O captive <07628> daughter <01323> of Zion <06726>. 3 For thus <03541> saith <0559> the LORD <03068>, Ye have sold <04376> yourselves for nought <02600>;...

KJV - 2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion. 3 For thus saith the Lord, Ye have sold yourselves for nought;…

NRSV - 2 Shake yourself from the dust, rise up, O captive Jerusalem; loose the bonds from your neck, O captive daughter Zion! 3 For thus says the LORD: You were sold for nothing,...

TEV - "God Will Rescue Jerusalem" - 1 Jerusalem, be strong and great again! Holy city of God, clothe yourself with splendor! The heathen will never enter your gates again. 2 Shake yourself free, Jerusalem! Rise from the dust and sit on your throne! Undo the chains that bind you, captive people of Zion! 3 The Sovereign LORD says to his people, "When you became slaves, no money was paid for you; in the same way nothing will be paid to set you free. 4 When you went to live in Egypt as foreigners, you did so of your own free will; Assyria, however, took you away by force and paid nothing for you. 5 And now in Babylonia the same thing has happened: you are captives, and nothing was paid for you. Those who rule over you boast and brag and constantly show contempt for me. 6 In time to come you will acknowledge that I am God and that I have spoken to you."

B2 - Psa 33

KJV <Strong's #> - 3 Sing <07891> unto him a new <02319> song <07892>;...

6 By the word <01697> of the LORD <03068> were the heavens <08064> made <06213>; and all <03605> the host <06635> of them by the breath <07307> of his mouth <06310>.

9 For he spake <0559>, and it was [done]; he commanded <06680>, and it stood <05975> fast.

11 The counsel <06098> of the LORD <03068> standeth <05975> for ever <05769>, the thoughts <04284> of his heart <03820> to all generations <01755>.

KJV - 3 Sing unto him a new song;…

6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

11 The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

NRSV - 3 Sing to him a new song;...

6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and all their host by the breath of his mouth.

9 For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.

11 The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

TEV - "A Song of Praise" - 1 All you that are righteous, shout for joy for what the LORD has done; praise him, all you that obey him. 2 Give thanks to the LORD with harps, sing to him with stringed instruments. 3 Sing a new song to him, play the harp with skill, and shout for joy! 4 The words of the LORD are true, and all his works are dependable. 5 The LORD loves what is righteous and just; his constant love fills the earth. 6 The LORD created the heavens by his command, the sun, moon, and stars by his spoken word. 7 He gathered all the seas into one place; he shut up the ocean depths in storerooms. 8 Worship the LORD, all the earth! Honor him, all peoples of the world! 9 When he spoke, the world was created; at his command everything appeared. 10 The LORD frustrates the purposes of the nations; he keeps them from carrying out their plans. 11 But his plans endure forever; his purposes last eternally. 12 Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD; happy are the people he has chosen for his own!

B3 - Psa 94

KJV <Strong's #> - 11 The LORD <03068> knoweth <03045> the thoughts <04284> of man <0120>, that they [are] vanity <01892>.

15 But judgment <04941> shall return <07725> unto righteousness <06664>: and all <03605> the upright <03477> in heart <03820> shall follow <0310> it.

KJV - 11 The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

15 But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

NRSV - 11 The LORD knows our thoughts, that they are but an empty breath.

15 for justice will return to the righteous, and all the upright in heart will follow it.

TEV - "God the Judge of All" - 8 My people, how can you be such stupid fools? When will you ever learn? 9 God made our ears -- can't he hear? He made our eyes -- can't he see? 10 He scolds the nations -- won't he punish them? He is the teacher of all men -- hasn't he any knowledge? 11 The LORD knows what they think; he knows how senseless their reasoning is. 12 LORD, how happy is the person you instruct, the one to whom you teach your law! 13 You give him rest from days of trouble until a pit is dug to trap the wicked. 14 The LORD will not abandon his people; he will not desert those who belong to him. 15 Justice will again be found in the courts, and all righteous people will support it.

B4 - Exo 3

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 Now Moses <04872> kept <07462> the flock <06629> of Jethro <03503> his father <02859> in law <02859>, the priest <03548> of Midian <04080>: and he led <05090> the flock <06629> to the backside <0310> of the desert <04057>, and came <0935> to the mountain <02022> of God <0430>, [even] to Horeb <02722>.

7 And the LORD <03068> said <0559>, I have surely seen <07200> the affliction <06040> of my people <05971> which <0834> [are] in Egypt <04714>, and have heard <08085> their cry <06818> by reason <06440> of their taskmasters <05065>; for I know <03045> their sorrows <04341>;

10 Come <03212> now <06258> therefore, and I will send <07971> thee unto Pharaoh <06547>, that thou mayest bring <03318> forth <03318> my people <05971> the children <01121> of Israel <03478> out of Egypt <04714>.

KJV - 1 Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

7 And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

NRSV - 1 Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian; he led his flock beyond the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

7 Then the LORD said, "I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed, I know their sufferings,

10 So come, I will send you to Pharaoh to bring my people, the Israelites, out of Egypt."

TEV - "God Calls Moses" - 1 One day while Moses was taking care of the sheep and goats of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, he led the flock across the desert and came to Sinai, the holy mountain. 2 There the angel of the LORD appeared to him as a flame coming from the middle of a bush. Moses saw that the bush was on fire but that it was not burning up. 3 "This is strange," he thought. "Why isn't the bush burning up? I will go closer and see." 4 When the LORD saw that Moses was coming closer, he called to him from the middle of the bush and said, "Moses! Moses!" He answered, "Yes, here I am."

7 Then the LORD said, "I have seen how cruelly my people are being treated in Egypt; I have heard them cry out to be rescued from their slave drivers. I know all about their sufferings, 8 and so I have come down to rescue them from the Egyptians and to bring them out of Egypt to a spacious land, one which is rich and fertile and in which the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites now live. 9 I have indeed heard the cry of my people, and I see how the Egyptians are oppressing them. 10 Now I am sending you to the king of Egypt so that you can lead my people out of his country." 11 But Moses said to God, "I am nobody. How can I go to the king and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"

B5 - Exo 4

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 And Moses <04872> answered <06030> and said <0559>, But, behold <02005>, they will not believe <0539> me, nor <03808> hearken <08085> unto my voice <06963>: for they will say <0559>, The LORD <03068> hath not appeared <07200> unto thee.

2 And the LORD <03068> said <0559> unto him, What <04100> [is] that in thine hand <03027>? And he said <0559>, A rod <04294>. 3 And he said <0559>, Cast <07993> it on the ground <0776>. And he cast <07993> it on the ground <0776>, and it became <01961> a serpent <05175>; and Moses <04872> fled <05127> from before <06440> it. 4 And the LORD <03068> said <0559> unto Moses <04872>, Put <07971> forth <07971> thine hand <03027>, and take <0270> it by the tail <02180>. And he put <07971> forth <07971> his hand <03027>, and caught <02388> it, and it became <01961> a rod <04294> in his hand <03709>:

KJV - 1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice:…

2 And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. 3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. 4 And the Lord said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:

NRSV - 1 Then Moses answered, "But suppose they do not believe me or listen to me, but say, "The LORD did not appear to you."'

2 The LORD said to him, "What is that in your hand?" He said, "A staff." 3 And he said, "Throw it on the ground." So he threw the staff on the ground, and it became a snake; and Moses drew back from it. 4 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Reach out your hand, and seize it by the tail" -- so he reached out his hand and grasped it, and it became a staff in his hand --

TEV - "God Gives Moses Miraculous Power" - 1 Then Moses answered the LORD, "But suppose the Israelites do not believe me and will not listen to what I say. What shall I do if they say that you did not appear to me?" 2 So the LORD asked him, "What are you holding?" "A walking stick," he answered. 3 The LORD said, "Throw it on the ground." When Moses threw it down, it turned into a snake, and he ran away from it. 4 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Reach down and pick it up by the tail." So Moses reached down and caught it, and it became a walking stick again. 5 The LORD said, "Do this to prove to the Israelites that the LORD, the God of their ancestors, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, has appeared to you."

B6 - Exo 4

KJV <Strong's #> - 6 And the LORD <03068> said <0559> furthermore <05750> unto him, Put <0935> now <04994> thine hand <03027> into thy bosom <02436>. And he put <0935> his hand <03027> into his bosom <02436>: and when he took <03318> it out, behold <02009>, his hand <03027> [was] leprous <06879> as snow <07950>. 7 And he said <0559>, Put <07725> thine hand <03027> into <0413> thy bosom <02436> again <07725>. And he put <07725> his hand <03027> into <0413> his bosom <02436> again <07725>; and plucked <03318> it out of his bosom <02436>, and, behold <02009>, it was turned <07725> again <07725> as his [other] flesh <01320>. 8 And it shall come <01961> to pass, if <0518> they will not believe <0539> thee, neither <03808> hearken <08085> to the voice <06963> of the first <07223> sign <0226>, that they will believe <0539> the voice <06963> of the latter <0314> sign <0226>.

KJV - 6 And the Lord said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. 7 And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again; and plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other flesh. 8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of the latter sign.

NRSV - 6 Again, the LORD said to him, "Put your hand inside your cloak." He put his hand into his cloak; and when he took it out, his hand was leprous, as white as snow. 7 Then God said, "Put your hand back into your cloak" -- so he put his hand back into his cloak, and when he took it out, it was restored like the rest of his body -- 8 "If they will not believe you or heed the first sign, they may believe the second sign.

TEV - "God Gives Moses Miraculous Power" - 6 The LORD spoke to Moses again, "Put your hand inside your robe." Moses obeyed; and when he took his hand out, it was diseased, covered with white spots, like snow. 7 Then the LORD said, "Put your hand inside your robe again." He did so, and when he took it out this time, it was healthy, just like the rest of his body. 8 The LORD said, "If they will not believe you or be convinced by the first miracle, then this one will convince them. 9 If in spite of these two miracles they still will not believe you, and if they refuse to listen to what you say, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the ground. The water will turn into blood."

B7 - Psa 56

KJV <Strong's #> - 4 In God <0430> I will praise <01984> his word <01697>, in God <0430> I have put my trust <0982>; I will not fear <03372> what <04100> flesh <01320> can do <06213> unto me.

KJV - 4 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

NRSV - 4 In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I am not afraid; what can flesh do to me?

TEV - "A Prayer of Trust in God" - 1 Be merciful to me, O God, because I am under attack; my enemies persecute me all the time. 2 All day long my opponents attack me. There are so many who fight against me. 3 When I am afraid, O LORD Almighty, I put my trust in you. 4 I trust in God and am not afraid; I praise him for what he has promised. What can a mere human being do to me?

B8 - Isa 33

KJV <Strong's #> - 20 Look <02372> upon Zion <06726>, the city <07151> of our solemnities <04150>: thine eyes <05869> shall see <07200> Jerusalem <03389> a quiet <07600> habitation <05116>, a tabernacle <0168> [that] shall not be taken <06813> down; not one of the stakes <03489> thereof shall ever <05331> be removed <05265>, neither <01077> shall any <03605> of the cords <02256> thereof be broken <05423>.

24 And the inhabitant <07934> shall not say <0559>, I am sick <02470>: the people <05971> that dwell <03427> therein [shall be] forgiven <05375> [their] iniquity <05771>.

KJV - 20 Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.

24 And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.

NRSV - 20 Look on Zion, the city of our appointed festivals! Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet habitation, an immovable tent, whose stakes will never be pulled up, and none of whose ropes will be broken.

24 And no inhabitant will say, "I am sick"; the people who live there will be forgiven their iniquity.

TEV - "The Glorious Future" - 17 Once again you will see a king ruling in splendor over a land that stretches in all directions. 18 Your old fears of foreign tax collectors and spies will be only a memory. 19 You will no longer see any arrogant foreigners who speak a language that you can't understand. 20 Look at Zion, the city where we celebrate our religious festivals. Look at Jerusalem! What a safe place it will be to live in! It will be like a tent that is never moved, whose pegs are never pulled up and whose ropes never break. 21 The LORD will show us his glory. We will live beside broad rivers and streams, but hostile ships will not sail on them. 22...23 All the rigging on those ships is useless; the sails cannot be spread! We will seize all the wealth of enemy armies, and there will be so much that even lame men can get a share. The LORD himself will be our king; he will rule over us and protect us. 24 No one who lives in our land will ever again complain of being sick, and all sins will be forgiven.

B9 - Joh 6

KJV <Strong's #> - 63 It is the spirit <4151> that quickeneth <2227>; the flesh <4561> profiteth <5623> nothing <3762>:...

KJV - 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:…

NRSV - 63 It is the spirit that gives life; the flesh is useless...

TEV - "The Words of Eternal Life" - 61 Without being told, Jesus knew that they were grumbling about this, so he said to them, "Does this make you want to give up? 62 Suppose, then, that you should see the Son of Man go back up to the place where he was before? 63 What gives life is God's Spirit; man's power is of no use at all. The words I have spoken to you bring God's life-giving Spirit. 64 Yet some of you do not believe." (Jesus knew from the very beginning who were the ones that would not believe and which one would betray him.) 65 And he added, "This is the very reason I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father makes it possible for him to do so."

B10 - Mar 3

KJV <Strong's #> - 7 ...Jesus <2424> withdrew <402> himself with his disciples <3101> to the sea <2281>: and a great <4183> multitude <4128> from Galilee <1056> followed <190> him, and from Judaea <2449>, 8 And from Jerusalem <2414>, and from Idumaea <2401>, and [from] beyond <4008> Jordan <2446>; and they about <4012> Tyre <5184> and Sidon <4605>, a great <4183> multitude <4128>, when they had heard <191> what <3745> great <3745> things he did <4160>, came <2064> unto him.

KJV - 7 … Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea, 8 And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.

NRSV - 7 Jesus departed with his disciples to the sea, and a great multitude from Galilee followed him; 8 hearing all that he was doing, they came to him in great numbers from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, beyond the Jordan, and the region around Tyre and Sidon.

TEV - "A Crowd by the Lake" - 7 Jesus and his disciples went away to Lake Galilee, and a large crowd followed him. They had come from Galilee, from Judea, 8 from Jerusalem, from the territory of Idumea, from the territory on the east side of the Jordan, and from the region around the cities of Tyre and Sidon. All these people came to Jesus because they had heard of the things he was doing. 9 The crowd was so large that Jesus told his disciples to get a boat ready for him, so that the people would not crush him. 10 He had healed many people, and all the sick kept pushing their way to him in order to touch him. 11 And whenever the people who had evil spirits in them saw him, they would fall down before him and scream, "You are the Son of God!"

B11 - Mar 5

KJV <Strong's #> - 25 And a certain <5100> woman <1135>, which had <1510> an issue <4511> of blood <129> twelve <1427> years <2094>, 26 And had suffered <3958> many <4183> things of many <4183> physicians <2395>, and had spent <1159> all <3956> that she had <3844>, and was nothing <3367> bettered <5623>, but rather <3123> grew <2064> worse <5501>, 27 When she had heard <191> of Jesus <2424>, came <2064> in the press <3793> behind <3693>, and touched <680> his garment <2440>. 28 For she said <3004>, If <2579> I may touch <680> but his clothes <2440>, I shall be whole <4982>. 29 And straightway <2112> the fountain <4077> of her blood <129> was dried <3583> up; and she felt <1097> in [her] body <4983> that she was healed <2390> of that plague <3148>.

34 And he said <2036> unto her, Daughter <2364>, thy faith <4102> hath made <4982> thee whole <4982>; go <5217> in peace <1515>, and be whole <5199> of thy plague <3148>.

KJV - 25 And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, 26 And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, 27 When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. 28 For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. 29 And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

34 And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.

NRSV - 25 Now there was a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years. 26 She had endured much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had; and she was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 She had heard about Jesus, and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 for she said, "If I but touch his clothes, I will be made well." 29 Immediately her hemorrhage stopped; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease.

34 He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease."

TEV - "Jairus' Daughter and the Woman Who Touched Jesus' Cloak" - 25 There was a woman who had suffered terribly from severe bleeding for twelve years, 26 even though she had been treated by many doctors. She had spent all her money, but instead of getting better she got worse all the time. 27 She had heard about Jesus, so she came in the crowd behind him, 28 saying to herself, "If I just touch his clothes, I will get well." 29 She touched his cloak, and her bleeding stopped at once; and she had the feeling inside herself that she was healed of her trouble. 30 At once Jesus knew that power had gone out of him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" 31 His disciples answered, "You see how the people are crowding you; why do you ask who touched you?" 32 But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. 33 The woman realized what had happened to her, so she came, trembling with fear, knelt at his feet, and told him the whole truth. 34 Jesus said to her, "My daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your trouble." 35 While Jesus was saying this, some messengers came from Jairus' house and told him, "Your daughter has died. Why bother the Teacher any longer?"

KJV <Strong's #> - 1 Unto thee, O LORD <03068>, do I lift <05375> up my soul <05315>.

18 Look <07200> upon mine affliction <06040> and my pain <05999>; and forgive <05375> all <03605> my sins <02403>.

KJV - 1 Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain;…

NRSV - 1 To you, O LORD, I lift up my soul.

18 Consider my affliction and my trouble,...

TEV - "A Prayer for Guidance and Protection" - 1 To you, O LORD, I offer my prayer; 2 in you, my God, I trust. Save me from the shame of defeat; don't let my enemies gloat over me! 3 Defeat does not come to those who trust in you, but to those who are quick to rebel against you.

15 I look to the LORD for help at all times, and he rescues me from danger. 16 Turn to me, LORD, and be merciful to me, because I am lonely and weak. 17 Relieve me of my worries and save me from all my troubles. 18 Consider my distress and suffering and forgive all my sins. 19 See how many enemies I have; see how much they hate me. 20 Protect me and save me; keep me from defeat. I come to you for safety. 21 May my goodness and honesty preserve me, because I trust in you.

B13 - Psa 116

KJV <Strong's #> - 3 The sorrows <02256> of death <04194> compassed <0661> me, and the pains <04712> of hell <07585> gat hold <04672> upon me: I found <04672> trouble <06869> and sorrow <03015>. 4 Then called <07121> I upon the name <08034> of the LORD <03068>; O LORD <03068>, I beseech <0577> thee, deliver <04422> my soul <05315>. 5 Gracious <02587> [is] the LORD <03068>, and righteous <06662>; yea, our God <0430> [is] merciful <07355>.

KJV - 3 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. 4 Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul. 5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.

NRSV - 3 The snares of death encompassed me; the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me; I suffered distress and anguish. 4 Then I called on the name of the LORD: "O LORD, I pray, save my life!" 5 Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; our God is merciful.

TEV - "A Man Saved from Death Praises God" - 1 I love the LORD, because he hears me; he listens to my prayers. 2 He listens to me every time I call to him. 3 The danger of death was all around me; the horrors of the grave closed in on me; I was filled with fear and anxiety. 4 Then I called to the LORD, "I beg you, LORD, save me!" 5 The LORD is merciful and good; our God is compassionate. 6 The LORD protects the helpless; when I was in danger, he saved me. 7 Be confident, my heart, because the LORD has been good to me.

B14 - Isa 54

KJV <Strong's #> - 11 O thou afflicted <06041>, tossed with tempest <05590>, [and] not comforted <05162>, behold <02009>, I will lay <07257> thy stones <068> with fair <06320> colours <06320>, and lay thy foundations <03245> with sapphires <05601>.

14 In righteousness <06666> shalt thou be established <03559>: thou shalt be far <07368> from oppression <06233>; for thou shalt not fear <03372>: and from terror <04288>; for it shall not come <07126> near <07126> thee.

KJV - 11 O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.

14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

NRSV - 11 O afflicted one, storm-tossed, and not comforted, I am about to set your stones in antimony, and lay your foundations with sapphires.

14 In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you.

TEV - "The Future Jerusalem" - 11 The LORD says, "O Jerusalem, you suffering, helpless city, with no one to comfort you, I will rebuild your foundations with precious stones. 12 I will build your towers with rubies, your gates with stones that glow like fire, and the wall around you with jewels. 13 "I myself will teach your people and give them prosperity and peace. 14 Justice and right will make you strong. You will be safe from oppression and terror. 15 If anyone attacks you, he does it without my consent; whoever fights against you will fall.

B15 - Isa 32

KJV <Strong's #> - 17 And the work <04639> of righteousness <06666> shall be peace <07965>; and the effect <05656> of righteousness <06666> quietness <08252> and assurance <0983> for ever <05769>. 18 And my people <05971> shall dwell <03427> in a peaceable <07965> habitation <05116>, and in sure <04009> dwellings <04908>, and in quiet <07600> resting <04496> places;

KJV - 17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever. 18 And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

NRSV - 17 The effect of righteousness will be peace, and the result of righteousness, quietness and trust forever. 18 My people will abide in a peaceful habitation, in secure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

TEV - "Judgment and Restoration" - 15 But once more God will send us his spirit. The wasteland will become fertile, and fields will produce rich crops. 16 Everywhere in the land righteousness and justice will be done. 17 Because everyone will do what is right, there will be peace and security forever. 18 God's people will be free from worries, and their homes peaceful and safe. (19 But hail will fall on the forests, and the city will be torn down.) 20 How happy everyone will be with plenty of water for the crops and safe pasture everywhere for the donkeys and cattle.

B16 - Pro 21

KJV <Strong's #> - 17 He that loveth <0157> pleasure <08057> [shall be] a poor <04270> man <0376>: he that loveth <0157> wine <03196> and oil <08081> shall not be rich <06238>.

KJV - 17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

NRSV - 17 Whoever loves pleasure will suffer want; whoever loves wine and oil will not be rich.

TEV - "Solomon's Proverbs" - 14 If someone is angry with you, a gift given secretly will calm him down. 15 When justice is done, good people are happy, but evil people are brought to despair. 16 Death is waiting for anyone who wanders away from good sense. 17 Indulging in luxuries, wine, and rich food will never make you wealthy. 18 The wicked bring on themselves the suffering they try to cause good people. 19 Better to live out in the desert than with a nagging, complaining wife. 20 Wise people live in wealth and luxury, but stupid people spend their money as fast as they get it.

B17 - 1Jo 2

KJV <Strong's #> - 15 Love <25> not the world <2889>, neither <3366> the things [that are] in the world <2889>. If <1437> any <5100> man love <25> the world <2889>, the love <26> of the Father <3962> is not in him. 16 For all <3956> that [is] in the world <2889>, the lust <1939> of the flesh <4561>, and the lust <1939> of the eyes <3788>, and the pride <212> of life <979>, is not of the Father <3962>, but is of the world <2889>. 17 And the world <2889> passeth <3855> away, and the lust <1939> thereof <846>: but he that doeth <4160> the will <2307> of God <2316> abideth <3306> for ever <165>.

KJV - 15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

NRSV - 15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world; 16 for all that is in the world -- the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, the pride in riches -- comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 And the world and its desire are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever.

TEV - "The New Command" - 14 I write to you, my children, because you know the Father. I write to you, fathers, because you know him who has existed from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong; the word of God lives in you, and you have defeated the Evil One. 15 Do not love the world or anything that belongs to the world. If you love the world, you do not love the Father. 16 Everything that belongs to the world -- what the sinful self desires, what people see and want, and everything in this world that people are so proud of -- none of this comes from the Father; it all comes from the world. 17 The world and everything in it that people desire is passing away; but he who does the will of God lives forever.

B18 - Eph 4

KJV <Strong's #> - 17 This <5124> I say <3004> therefore <3767>, and testify <3143> in the Lord <2962>, that ye henceforth <3371> walk <4043> not <3371> as other <3062> Gentiles <1484> walk <4043>, in the vanity <3153> of their mind <3563>, 18 Having the understanding <1271> darkened <4654>, being <5607> alienated <526> from the life <2222> of God <2316> through <1223> the ignorance <52> that is in them, because <1223> of the blindness <4457> of their heart <2588>: 19 Who <3748> being past <524> feeling <524> have given <3860> themselves <1438> over <3860> unto lasciviousness <766>, to work <2039> all <3956> uncleanness <167> with greediness <4124>. 20 But ye have not so <3779> learned <3129> Christ <5547>; 21 If <1489> so <3779> be that ye have heard <191> him, and have been taught <1321> by him, as the truth <225> is in Jesus <2424>: 22 That ye put <659> off <659> concerning <2596> the former <4387> conversation <391> the old <3820> man <444>, which <3588> is corrupt <5351> according <2596> to the deceitful <539> lusts <1939>; 23 And be renewed <365> in the spirit <4151> of your <5216> mind <3563>; 24 And that ye put <1746> on <1746> the new <2537> man <444>, which <3588> after <2596> God <2316> is created <2936> in righteousness <1343> and true <225> holiness <3742>.

KJV - 17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

NRSV - 17 Now this I affirm and insist on in the Lord: you must no longer live as the Gentiles live, in the futility of their minds. 18 They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of their ignorance and hardness of heart. 19 They have lost all sensitivity and have abandoned themselves to licentiousness, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. 20 That is not the way you learned Christ! 21 For surely you have heard about him and were taught in him, as truth is in Jesus. 22 You were taught to put away your former way of life, your old self, corrupt and deluded by its lusts, 23 and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, 24 and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.

TEV - "The New Life in Christ" - 17 In the Lord's name, then, I warn you: do not continue to live like the heathen, whose thoughts are worthless 18 and whose minds are in the dark. They have no part in the life that God gives, for they are completely ignorant and stubborn. 19 They have lost all feeling of shame; they give themselves over to vice and do all sorts of indecent things without restraint. 20 That was not what you learned about Christ! 21 You certainly heard about him, and as his followers you were taught the truth that is in Jesus. 22 So get rid of your old self, which made you live as you used to -- the old self that was being destroyed by its deceitful desires. 23 Your hearts and minds must be made completely new, 24 and you must put on the new self, which is created in God's likeness and reveals itself in the true life that is upright and holy.

B19 - Isa 42

KJV <Strong's #> - 5 Thus <03541> saith <0559> God <0410> the LORD <03068>, he that created <01254> the heavens <08064>, and stretched <05186> them out; he that spread <07554> forth the earth <0776>, and that which cometh <06631> out of it; he that giveth <05414> breath <05397> unto the people <05971> upon it, and spirit <07307> to them that walk <01980> therein:

KJV - 5 Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:

NRSV - 5 Thus says God, the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people upon it and spirit to those who walk in it:

TEV - "The LORD's Servant" - 5 God created the heavens and stretched them out; he fashioned the earth and all that lives there; he gave life and breath to all its people. And now the LORD God says to his servant, 6 "I, the LORD, have called you and given you power to see that justice is done on earth. Through you I will make a covenant with all peoples; through you I will bring light to the nations. 7 You will open the eyes of the blind and set free those who sit in dark prisons.

B20 - Isa 29

KJV <Strong's #> - 16 Surely <0518> your turning <02017> of things upside down shall be esteemed <02803> as the potter's <03335> clay <02563>: for shall the work <04639> say <0559> of him that made <06213> it, He made <06213> me not? or shall the thing framed <03336> say <0559> of him that framed <03335> it, He had no <03808> understanding <0995>?

KJV - 16 Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

NRSV - 16 You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay? Shall the thing made say of its maker, "He did not make me"; or the thing formed say of the one who formed it, "He has no understanding"?

TEV - "Hope for the Future" - 15 Those who try to hide their plans from the LORD are doomed! They carry out their schemes in secret and think no one will see them or know what they are doing. 16 They turn everything upside down. Which is more important, the potter or the clay? Can something a man has made tell him, "You didn't make me"? Or can it say to him, "You don't know what you are doing"? 17 As the saying goes, before long the dense forest will become farmland, and the farmland will go back to forest.

B21 - Jer 29

KJV <Strong's #> - 11 For I know <03045> the thoughts <04284> that I think <02803> toward <05921> you, saith <05002> the LORD <03068>, thoughts <04284> of peace <07965>, and not of evil <07451>, to give <05414> you an expected <08615> end <0319>.

13 And ye shall seek <01245> me, and find <04672> [me], when <03588> ye shall search <01875> for me with all <03605> your heart <03824>.

KJV - 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

NRSV - 11 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.

13 When you search for me, you will find me; if you seek me with all your heart,

TEV - "Jeremiah's Letter to the Jews in Babylonia" - 10 "The LORD says, "When Babylonia's seventy years are over, I will show my concern for you and keep my promise to bring you back home. 11 I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for. 12 Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you. 13 You will seek me, and you will find me because you will seek me with all your heart. 14 Yes, I say, you will find me, and I will restore you to your land. I will gather you from every country and from every place to which I have scattered you, and I will bring you back to the land from which I had sent you away into exile. I, the LORD, have spoken.'

B22 - Rom 8

KJV <Strong's #> - 5 ...they that are after <2596> the flesh <4561> do mind <5426> the things of the flesh <4561>; but they that are after <2596> the Spirit <4151> the things of the Spirit <4151>.

9 But ye are not in the flesh <4561>, but in the Spirit <4151>, if <1512> so be that the Spirit <4151> of God <2316> dwell <3611> in you...

19 For the earnest <603> expectation <603> of the creature <2937> waiteth <553> for the manifestation <602> of the sons <5207> of God <2316>.

KJV - 5 …they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you…

19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.

NRSV - 5 ...those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

9 But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you...

19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God;

TEV - "The Conflict in Man" - 5 Those who live as their human nature tells them to, have their minds controlled by what human nature wants. Those who live as the Spirit tells them to, have their minds controlled by what the Spirit wants. 6 To be controlled by human nature results in death; to be controlled by the Spirit results in life and peace. 7 And so a person becomes an enemy of God when he is controlled by his human nature; for he does not obey God's law, and in fact he cannot obey it. 8 Those who obey their human nature cannot please God. 9 But you do not live as your human nature tells you to; instead, you live as the Spirit tells you to -- if, in fact, God's Spirit lives in you. Whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ lives in you, the Spirit is life for you because you have been put right with God, even though your bodies are going to die because of sin. 11 If the Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from death, lives in you, then he who raised Christ from death will also give life to your mortal bodies by the presence of his Spirit in you.

"The Future Glory" - 18 I consider that what we suffer at this present time cannot be compared at all with the glory that is going to be revealed to us. 19 All of creation waits with eager longing for God to reveal his sons. 20 For creation was condemned to lose its purpose, not of its own will, but because God willed it to be so. Yet there was the hope 21 that creation itself would one day be set free from its slavery to decay and would share the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 For we know that up to the present time all of creation groans with pain, like the pain of childbirth.

B23 - Rom 9

KJV <Strong's #> - 26 And it shall come <1511> to pass, [that] in the place <5117> where <3757> it was said <4483> unto them, Ye [are] not my people <2992>; there <1563> shall they be called <2564> the children <5207> of the living <2198> God <2316>.

KJV - 26 And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

NRSV - 26 "And in the very place where it was said to them, "You are not my people,' there they shall be called children of the living God."

TEV - "God's Anger and Mercy" - 25 This is what he says in the book of Hosea: "The people who were not mine I will call "My People.' The nation that I did not love I will call "My Beloved.' 26 And in the very place where they were told, "You are not my people,' there they will be called the sons of the living God."

KJV

King James Version (KJV) -- Dr. Benjamin Blayney's 1769 revision of the KJV. Almost all of today's printed and electronic editions of the KJV are based upon Dr. Blayney's 1769 revision, which like many of its KJV-revision predecessors, does not include the Apocrypha and the marginal notes that were in the original 1611 edition of the KJV. Spelling and punctuation also are quite different from the 1611 edition. Even in today's editions of the KJV, there remain some punctuation and spelling differences among major publishers. In the KJV texts above, the strike-through words are those that were not in the original Hebrew (OT), Aramaic (Daniel only), or Greek (NT) texts of the Bible. [Bold-type bracketed words] are additions or corrections to enable the KJV text to better conform to what today's scholars believe to have been the original text, as published in the United Bible Society's definitive Hebrew Old Testament (Biblica Hebraica Stuttsgartensia) and Greek New Testament, 4th Revised Edition). [Regular-type bracketed words] are those words that are italized in the printed edition of the KJV. They are words that were added by the KJV translators without any corresponding Hebrew or Greek words.

Strong's numbers

Strong's numbers identify the Hebrew (OT) or Greek words (NT) from which the KJV words were translated, and they are enclosed in less-than and greater-than signs < >. Keep in mind that the Strong's numbers do not necessarily represent the Hebrew and Greek words in the original texts. They represent the Hebrew and Greek texts from which the KJV was translated. The following two resources are available to use the Strong's numbers:

On each Bible citation toolbar -- You will find links to Strong's Heb and Strong's Gr lexicons, which will enable you to use the Strong's numbers to explore the Hebrew and Greek words in the texts from which the KJV was translated. When inputting Strong's number into one of those online lexicons, delete any preceding zeros (0's). The easiest way to do this is to copy (Ctrl-C) and paste (Ctrl-V) the number (1 to 4 digits) from the KJV text to the online lexicon's input field, then click on the lexicon's "Find" button.

On each Bible citation toolbar and S&H toolbar -- You will find a Strong's S&H link. This provides links to descriptions of those Hebrew and Greek words that are used in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Each word is identified by its respective Strong's numbers.
